I like last years version of the Maritime, better than this latest drop. I don't really care for the contrasting buttons, or the wool on this one. I get why they offer something new, to shake things up, but sometimes you like the newer versions, and sometimes not. I agree that this one will function better as more of a jacket, and less of a shirt. If you like it though, spring for it, as it is TS quality, and should last a very long time, and life is short.

I like the charcoal version, but I agree that the Moss version look awful. The buttons look huge and stand out way too much.

I have a similar charcoal CPO already, and like the moss colored one better, but not with the appointments.

IIRC the Navy Maritime is a lighter fabric than the new Maritimes. Yes. The old Maritimes were 15 oz. (and then 16 oz.) Woolrich Melton wool (lighter, will breathe) vs. 19 oz. boiled/felted wool (thick, fibers really really tight together from the "boiling" process to make it wind resistant, will not breathe). The difference in feeling will be significant. There is no way for this to be worn as a shirt in my mind. It's a jacket. They should give up and call it that. I mean they are suggesting you wear it over their sweater. Felted wool is really for frigid temps. You northern Midwesterners and New Englanders could probably handle one. The rest of us, nah. Please don't buy this thinking you are getting a "shirt" or "shirt jac," guys. It's really just a pocketless wool jacket. For what it's worth, they do have it in the outerwear section of their site, and don't seem to be claiming it's not. edit: other than "shirt jacket", but I think that more refers to the style than it's warmth.

Also, that is a great looking sweater. It makes me a tiny bit sad inside that I don't like wearing sweaters. I'd probably have to get it anyway if it were indigo dyed.

Agreed, indigo dyed would have been much more enticing.

My dislike of sweaters may not be stronger than $100, but it's surely stronger than what rrl is surely asking for theirs..

Anyone back the maritime? If so is anyone sizing up as to get a fit that's better for an overshirt/jacket?
I like the moss. Feels fisherman-y to me.

I think how boring the world would be, if everyone wore the same thing.

A lot. I don't find the contrasting buttons out of place at all. They go together nicely. Both pretty neutral and fall-ish colors. I also like white buttons on chambray so call my crazy.

I just wish those were wood buttons instead of whatever they are ("Unbreakable light horn Japanese urea cat's eye buttons"), that would be a great look. A plasticky looking button on wool always rubs me the wrong way.

"a colorless crystalline compound that is the main nitrogenous breakdown product of protein metabolism in mammals and is excreted in urine" I'd guess it's synthesized for mass production, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out I'm wrong.

Yeah. Piss buttons. TS seems to have gone fully off of natural buttons and onto urea solely now. Wonder if they had reports or corozo breaking, or if this is solely just cost per button.

Really pumped for the hoodie and sweats. I have been on the lookout for a good option and this is at 15+oz and the color I want. Good thing I didn't go Reigning Champ. More excited for this than the Maritime...

I'm a big fan, and considering getting both. TS Size 42s are pretty much a perfect fitting shirt for me. These will be great with khakis and with jeans. Diggin' em bigtime.

Maybe I'll get the Pine. Maybe.
Just bought a couple more shirts from Proper Cloth...shit is addicting...and perfect fit...and amazing material...just not made here. Though, their physical presence is based in my city that counts for something, right?
