I'm going to order that telegraph jacket/pants. The sizing is crazy, though. The 40 is between the 36 and 38 shirts on chest size. I noticed that too. It blows my whole "when in doubt, size for the shoulders" gameplan. The tailor can always fix that if the chest is a tent but when it's too small....no place to go.

After I measured my slimmest jacket, a 40r Banana Republic blazer at 41" per the TS fit guide I went ahead and ordered the 40 jacket and 33 pants in the espresso birdseye. It was my first order so I used the 15% off code and with $6 (!) shipping it only totaled $238.05. Seems like a pretty damn good deal. I liked the pant measurements except for the 15" cuff opening, but maybe it will be closer to 15.5" hemmed to a 34" inseam.

So size up from G shirt to TS? A Gustin XL classic = TS 44 for me. Just so happen to be wearing mine tonite. Don't mind the wrinkles (had it tucked earlier) and the color in the pic isn't quite right.

So size up from G shirt to TS? I've found the 42 and the Gustin Classic Large to be pretty similar, TS gives a little more space in the chest.

So size up from G shirt to TS? I think that all depends on your chest to belly ratio. If you look at the TS size guide, it tapers down from the chest then flares out a little at the bottom. The G shirts don't do that (they are much roomier). I have an XL G that fits tight in the shoulders but is crazy roomy from the chest down. I'm trying to decide between the 40 and 42 based on the fit guide--i'm 6'1"/180. I'm leaning toward the 40, but a bit worried about snugness below.

Gents, I recommend backing both colors if its in your budget. The black one is bad ass but I've actually received more compliments on the Moss Green.

So that's a 44 in the pic.

stinky - I'm 5'11" , 190lb (little bit of a bear belly) I've tryed a TS 42 and found it to snug all around. The 44" gives me a bit of room to work in. Problably a 43 would be perfect (but I'm not starting a 43UNITE! Campaign (oddly I haven't ordered a 37" Gustin yet

Thanks for the followup Diggy. I'm a bit concerned about your bear diet, though.
The smart money is on a 42 for me (I'm 6'1"/180), but I need to get at my Medium J Crew reg fit shirts to measure them. My wife might think it's a bit odd for me to be digging in the closet at 1130 while she's trying to sleep, though.
I want this shirt to fit well, but not snug. I just tried on a L Gap WS which is about 46 in the chest, and it is hella large on me.
If only I put this much thought and attention to detail into work and child-rearing . . .

Bear diet do increase belly fat. It's proven.
I like the black shirt...shod I back it or not is the question. Doing good not spending but it looks bad ass.

Trigger pulled on a 42 black. I had a discount code as well, so it was just over $70.
I noticed from Diggity's picture that the fabric is puckered at the stitching which tells me it will shrink a bit.

I noticed from Diggity's picture that the fabric is puckered at the stitching which tells me it will shrink a bit. Mine haven't shrunk at all stinky. I've cold washed and hang dried all three of mine and they haven't shrunk at all, fyi. I honestly was going to recommend a 40 for you but I don't want to confuse the issue any more. They just seem like they sewed up a little on the larger side imo, especially in the length, but maybe that was only the case with earlier rounds of the Mechanics shirt, I don't know. I'm 6'1'', cut down to about 182 now and the 40 is damn near perfect for me. The only issue I have with it is when I bend my elbows the forearms and sleeves get a bit tight. Not too much to where it's overly annoying but I wish they were a tad bit looser. Plus I roll my sleeves up most the time so when I do that it takes away the tightness when I bend my elbows.

Wait, a 40 works perfect for you? So that would make me like a 38? Or even a 36?

Guess so, seeing as I'm a 40 or 42 in TS.

Yeah, on a related note, I have the Railroad stripe in a 40. Feels a bit big on me now (I'm 5'11", 165-170lbs).
Actually, as I write this I realize I don't really wear it anymore because it is a bit too big... maybe I should offload it.

Okay, maybe I should move it down to a 40. The only thing that worries me is the stomach at 41"
