Question on IH-666s sizing. I think these are sanforized, so if I usually buy a G 33 slim (33.5 inches) needing up to an inch of stretch in the waist to a 34 and change, I should by a 33 in IH because they're a 34 waist - is that about right? I think starting with a 33 inch measurement in IH would be too tight.

jray - the waist will only stretch under tension from your body. I won't stretch 1.5" if you only need .25" plus a belt helps to control it. Basically the waist needs to see stress to stretch. Of course if will stretch a bit under normal wear but it won't go bigger than what you are putting it through.

Thanks Brentkuz. I'll go with the true 34 waist which is a 33 in IH sizing.

Thanks Brentkuz. I'll go with the true 34 waist which is a 33 in IH sizing. Makes sense if you like Gustin slim. Going with the smaller size will get a tighter fit. Judging by the fit guide.

Judging by the fit guide the 21oz sanforized iron hearts should be the best size for me. Just so happens rodeo bros has them instock. Humm the 25oz 666 just seems too baggy in the lower leg.

I thought the same thing. The 666s-21 is a better fit for me too

Brent make sure you check the thigh measurements on those. For some reason this latest batch has some crazy tight thighs

jray ickes - I noticed the thighs were a bit tight but for size 36 they are 25" should be good. The smaller waist sizes do look small. On second thought they are a bit tight. I forgot IHUK measures differently. 12.5" might be a bit tight.

Alright - got me 634S. The feedback was spot on. First these these are beastly, second you can tell this is a just a solid jean. Getting the 634 was the right call, despite the hem size. Top block of the 34 is snug, so not sure I can find a 666 to get around the thighs for me. At 21ozs I'm gonna push these as long as I can, but gotta say - this denim is a whole lot softer than the super heavy slub I've been using for winter work.
Guess I'm bitten by the japan bug, time to find a McCoy, PBJ, or Oni in that 14-15 range.

The thighs on the G 33 slims are 22.9 and fit me a bit snug but stretch out so I think the IH's will be fine from the start.

That's right - I remember you saying that. I'll check and make sure. Thanks Ickes yeah it makes a difference. Believe me, Im not trying to discourage you from buying these at all, quite the opposite actually. Its just that this last batch sewed up really small in the thighs and its prevented several people on the IH forums from buying them, myself included

A w31 has a 10.6" thigh! And that's IH measured - right below the crotch.

So my "build your own custom jean" project IH 634SR just went out to Railcar for tapering. The IH jean I wanted didn't exist in nature so I decided to make it myself. I wanted unsanforized, a cut somewhere between the 666 and the 555 and I didn't want to pay US retail either. The 634SR showed up from Rodeo Bros last week and I did a hot soak in the tub for 1 hour with agitation to get all the shrink accounted for.
Last night I reviewed the 666 and 555 specs, measured and overlayed my favorite jeans with the 634 and nailed down my specs. I'm after something along the lines of a slim straight with a hem that is large enough to look good with boots but not the rather giant opening the pair comes with as sewn by IH. I also want the fit looser than most of my other denim as it's a really substantial fabric. A little room is a good thing.
Should have them back within two weeks. I'll post up fit pics.
This project is the ONLY thing keeping me from sizing down one size on a pair of 666's from Rakuten.....

The top block and thigh are right on. The leg is not so wide that i'm willing to have it altered. Thought about it however. Tempted. I'm somewhat hopeful that the leg will tighten up a bit with a few more soaks over time. Maybe it's just wishful thinking. I'm really curious how yours turns out and the cost of having it done.

I've ordered 634SR but I'm a little worried about the sizing. I'm 33 straight in Gustin and I ordered size 33 in IH as well. The waist sizing chart between Rodeo and IH uk are the same for 33 but different for size 34 (35.5 rodeo and 34.3 ihuk). And since the fabric is unsanforized and unwashed, these are pre-shrink measurements. They are supposed to shrink an inch in the waist but hopefully they will stretch back later. I hope I haven't made a mistake ordering 33 instead of 34 but the rodeo measurements for 34 look too big for me. Any thoughts?
