This will be IronHeart friends soon. Just a throw back post. How we all have grown. Oh don't I know it. I have no problem admitting now that I was wrong, but at the time I posted that comment I truly meant every word. It was just not conceivable for me to spend that amount of money on IH gear but you are right, how we all have grown. I have learned two things since that post; never say never and Iron Heart jeans are worth the money.
Back then I felt pretty much the same as ickes. My attitude has also changed dramatically. I think Gustin is really like a gateway drug into higher quality denim. I also like ordering something and getting it within a week.

Quick question about the IH fits. What is the closest fit to the Gustin Slim fits? 666?

Quick question about the IH fits. What is the closest fit to the Gustin Slim fits? 666? Iron Heart releases a fit guide for every run of jeans they make so they don't have a generic fit guide that covers each fit. So if they release the 666 fit in an 18 oz Indigo and a 21 oz Indigo there will be a separate fit guide for each fabric. They are generally within the ballpark of each other but there will sometimes be differences between each fabric. So I would measure a pair of you best fitting Gustin slims compare them to the fit guides of whatever Iron Hearts you have your eye on. I would say the 777, 666, or 555 would be the three to check out. There is also the 633S over at SelfEdge that is a great fit..that's the fit I have. When you check the fit guide though be sure to see how Iron Heart measures their jeans because the thigh and knee are taken at different points than Gustins fit guide and it will affect the outcome.

Quick question about the IH fits. What is the closest fit to the Gustin Slim fits? 666? If it helps any, all of my Gustin jeans are 33W Slim but I wear a 32W in the IH-666S. The fit is very similar, although the Iron Hearts are slightly fuller from the knee to hem (we're talking between 0.25 to 0.5 an inch). The IH-666S is, IMO, quite simply one of the best cuts out there.

julian, I have my first pair of IH denim on the way. I wear a Gustin 34 Slim and ordered a pair of IH 666S-21 in a 34. The measurements, based on IH fit guides, seemed pretty close - with the exception of knee-to-hem. I thought about going with the 33 but was nervous it would be too small. Not in the mood for one of those excruciating break-in periods.

I think you did good by going with the 34 jamesr. Let us know how they turn out.

Should have them by the middle of next week. Pretty anxious to see how they turn out. If I like them as much as my IH shirts, I might be in trouble.

Jamesr - if I recall correctly, you're in Canada. How much does shipping from rukaten cost you and which shipping method do you choose?

Shipping cost depends on the weight of what you're ordering. Generally, the IH shirts have cost somewhere around $15, if I recall correctly. The jeans I just ordered were more. I am not sure of the exact conversion but, I think, around $25.
The good thing is you order, then get an email with the shipping cost. You have to reply accepting the shipping cost if you're okay with it. If not (I assume because I've always accepted), just respond saying, "no."
Everything has shipped EMS. It is crazy fast. I always get a tracking number and when I check can see it reached TO from Tokyo in a day, every time. Then it takes around three days to get to me.

I'm in Canada as well. The shipping is based on weight. The IH 634SR jeans that I ordered off of Rakuten (rodeo Bros), I was charged 3600 yen which is roughly $38 CAD.

Just checked for you. The shipping cost on the pair of IH666S-21 I ordered was 3200 yen. xe.com says that translates to $33CDN today.
Check out the shop named "vari". You can get free international shipping. I used them once and it turned out fine. I like Rodeo Bros better but you have to pay for shipping.

Untucked how are the 25oz coming? I just need someone to twist my arm. I'll say this... Someone here likened them to the 23oz Sacksquashers, and that is absolutely BLASPHEMOUS. the science put in to the IH denim shows IMMEDIATELY when you first wear them. I read on the IH forum that the warp and weft threads are of varied thickness, and further more, spun to different tightness levels. The fabric is notably heavy, but SOFT. After months of wearing my Sacksquashers, I got next to nowhere in breaking them in. The mill that made the denim only had 1 thought in mind: 23oz denim is merely 11.5oz denim doubled. After wearing my 666XHS, I know that's just simply not true. I could keep talking about this all day and make different little points, but it's just one of those things you just have to experience, like when people talk about PBJ's... Pictures and adjectives can give enough credit to these fabrics, you just have to touch and feel them in person. I can't imagine anyone who likes heavyweight denim disliking IH. At 3-4 months in on them, and after 3 hot soaks followed by air drying, and one hot hand wash followed by a machine dry, I'm absolutely in love with them, and have no fears of wearing them in the subtropical summer of Okinawa. These jeans will grow to be an old friend with a place in my wardrobe for years, like a good jacket.

jamesr and maurader - thank you both! maurader - where in Canada do you live? You're welcome. I'm in Montreal. My mom is from Montreal that's awesome! Man I might have to buy the 25oz 666. The 21oz also looks great but the sizing is a little bit funky. Iron heart friends anyone? Congrats jamesr on the IH purchase!

Thanks for pointing out the differences between the Gustin 23oz and the IH 25oz. You've got to admit that they do feel similar at first. I'm glad to hear the IH works out better in the long run. I spent about 4 months in the Gustin 23oz and they just started to get somewhere. I'm liking the IH 666 25oz so far. The fit is pretty cool too. They're definitely getting more comfortable much faster than the Gustins did.

I've been wearing mine for only ten days and there are already visible electric blue fades showing on mine, its ridiculous. The grey weft is going to produce some awesome fades. The feel of this fabric is very unique as well, never felt a fabric like it
