so my initial thoughts on my 20 oz Loomstate grey weft left hand twill Iron Hearts; This is a beautiful pair of jeans made with impeccable craftsmanship. Are they worth 400 bucks? IMO, its hard to say. Crazy you say? Well..,they are limited edition, will never be made again, 20 oz, Loomstate, grey weft, left hand twill....so its not exactly a fabric that you come across everyday. On top of that, t hese things fit great and there isn't a flaw to be found, anywhere. Your initial thoughts seem to be much the same as mine were with IH. Try as I might, I couldn't really see (or feel) what the reverence was all about. I mean, yes, great denim and excellent construction... but... And then I wore them, all day long, for four days in a row and I knew. They're worth every penny.

ickes how do you feel about the weight? I really want to jump into IH jeans but unsure if I should go for the 19 left hand twills or 25oz 666 cut. You guys don't make it easy to save money. Ickes how many pairs of jeans do you have?

When I tried them on before I soaked them I actually did not want to take them off, and these are 20 oz. The fit and the quality was just great to feel as I had them on my legs. I'm anxious to see how these age.

Ickes how many pairs of jeans do you have? The weight is probably pushing the limits for me right now. I tried the 26 oz and I tried the Heavyweights (23 oz) for a few days and initially I was thought it was neat to wear denim that heavy and I was determined to break them in. In hindsight though I don't think I would go over 21 oz now, it's just too much to realistically wear day to day I think. 20 oz is a good weight for heavyweight jeans. They are not for the faint of heart by any means but you can tell they are lighter than 26 oz imo. I believe you own the Super Heavies right? So 20 oz is only 2 oz more but in Loomstate form it feels crazy...lol...and I wonder what the post soak weight is as SelfEdge doesn't state that on their website. I know with the Gustins you gain an ounce post soak on their loomstates. So yeah, only time will really tell but at this point I am really diggin the 20 oz weight. As for how many jeans I have I honestly don't know at this point.

Based on what I have read, they'll probably be really good faders. Man, I really want a pair of IHs. Just don't think the majority of the cuts will work for me, specifically the hem. I am thinking even the 666 would be like a pair of bell bottoms on me. The 555s are a possibility but, unfortunately, I cannot get them from Japan so the price is very, very high. With the Canadian dollar lagging badly, I'd be looking at around $450. Hard for me to justify. That was one of the deciding factors for me picking this 20 oz loomstate pair jamesr. I wasn't sure if any of the Iron Heart fits were going to work for me and I had it narrowed down to a 666 fit and these (633 S). What I love about this fit is it's a fit created by SelfEdge and Iron Heart for this pair of jeans only and let me tell you it is a GREAT fit. It is exactly what it says it is, a straight fit in the top block that tapers down to more of a slim fit from the knee down. It's that perfect combo of a straight and slim fit and the cool part is that even though it is a straight fit in the top block, the rise is not super high like some of the straight fits. It's in between a straight and a slim fit in the rise. The cuff opening is also perfect on the 633S IMO, not too big but not too small. I think this fit would work good for you but I totally understand what you're saying, they are expensive and like I have said previously if it wasn't for my SelfEdge discount and store credit I probably would have never splurged on these.

It just depends on the the denim characteristic. Sometime it adds 3 oz. IH did a run of 20/23 oz denim which added weight post soak

Thanks bigblack, that's what I figured as well. Oh one thing I forgot to mention regarding the appearance of these. I said yesterday they look like a standard raw denim, similar to the Heavyweights, but after looking at them this morning post soak they definitely have more of an indigoxindigo or and indigoxblack look, with contrast stitching of course . Which makes sense since they are in IndigoxGrey. They look really cool.

So I finally used m SelfEdge store credit and discount and this is what I got; www.selfedge.com/jeans?product_id=1196I'm actually pretty excited about these. I never would normally purchase jeans this expensive but due to the circumstances I was able to snag this otherwise out of my league holy grail type pair. It was pretty cool to have this in my cart and after applying my store credit and discount seeing the total at 20 dollars. Now I cross my fingers and hope I sized right ickes, those are awesome. I've pretty much quit buying any sanforized denim unless it's super special. Not being a snob, I just have more than enough sanforized jeans. My last three purchases have been loomstate. I think you are in for some beautiful fades.

Alright, so you guys are probably tired of hearing me go on about my Iron Hearts but I just wanted to follow up a little bit now that they are soaked, dried, and I've worn them for a bit. These things are really amazing. Amazing quality, great fit, and the thing I like the best is that I can't believe how comfortable these are considering they were 20oz pre soak (so maybe 21oz now?). I'm wearing them right now, sitting down in a chair, knees bent at a ninety degree angle, and I'm comfortable. When I wore my Beasts it was a daily battle that made it feel like work to wear them every day and at the end of the day I was ready to take them off. Sitting in a chair and bending my knees like I am now would damn near cut off my circulation. With these Iron Hearts it is not the case. I just don't want to take them off. They really feel like they are already breaking in at this point. I can actually walk normal in these things and not feel like I'm walking like a robot zombie or something.
These are a great pair of jeans and I am more impressed with them now than I was when I first opened the package yesterday. I highly recommend Iron Hearts guys, especially this pair. Also, you have to love the Japanese to English translation that's on the back pocket tag on these;
"IT ACQUIRES BECAUSE OF THE COTON 100% AND TRUE GOODNESS IS UNDERSTOOD."
Lol..I couldn't have said it better myself...whatever the hell that means

It sure feels good to understand the true goodness doesn't it!

I do apologize for the poor quality fellas but here's two potato cam pics I took. One is a fit pic and the other is them hanging in my backyard post soak. I wore them in the tub for the soak; imgur.com/a/MEezD

Buttery soft and comfy, IF you size to your actual size. I think people run in to the "These are a task to break in" when they size down. But, they do stretch plenty.

Untucked - so I should order the size that applies to my fit such as gustin as opposed to sizing up one size?

Untucked - so I should order the size that applies to my fit such as gustin as opposed to sizing up one size? I picked the size that corresponded closest to my actual waist and thigh measurements. The IH-UK fit guide is spot on to the denim measurements. They are heavy, indeed. But, in my experience, they are not unruly. Overly tight pants will pinch and bite at creases if you size down, surely.

I wonder what the post soak weight is as SelfEdge doesn't state that on their website. From what I've learned over at sufu with unfanforized denim, post soak usually adds 1 - 1.5 oz. It just depends on the the denim characteristic. Sometime it adds 3 oz. IH did a run of 20/23 oz denim which added weight post soak Minor correction: The IH denim is 21/23, so it's a 2 oz change. The only post soak 3 oz change I know of is Samurai's 24/27.

So, you guys caused me to slip off my plan and I blame you. I was going along just fine on my "no new denim in 2015" plan, happy, overstocked with jeans, smugly declaring that I only get tempted by unsanforized stuff right now. I'm feeling cocky, that the only brand that could cause me to slip (IH) hasn't done any unsanforized denim lately. Smooth sailing.
Then you guys start talking, Rodeo Bros gets a shipment of IH 634sr and I'm clicking the "complete purchase" button within 24 hours like a mindless lemming.
Dammit.
Hope they fit though....
