I just noticed that all pages have the same title: "Selvedge Style is a forum...". Can we pull the thread name into the page title? After looking at this a little bit, you can probably copy the bottom level "breadcrumb" into the <TITLE></TITLE> block. It's probably a page_title variable of some sort (python, php, I don't know what ProBoards is using). Yes yes, I know, I'm a giant geek. It's hard to turn off the QA part of my brain.

ok...my suggestion's going to be an exercise pedantic in nature but here goes... it seems there's a strong contingent of folks here that are all about MiUSA gear. there's also a group of folks that are very much into the Japanese denim scene and its manufacturers. the forums are set up to allow greater discussion around two MiUSA companies (well, one of them makes stuff, the other promises to) a handful of Japanese brands and then a catch-all "other" forum. the Japanese denim forums are picking up a bit of steam as of late but some of them only have the general discussion thread and most talk happens there. IH is breaking free a bit more to talk about the specific styles/models in their own threads which is great but i'd like to see that fostered more with the Onis, Samurais, and PBJs of the world. it also seems arbitrary as to which of these has been elevated out of the catch-all bucket. my suggestion is to have a "Japanese brands" forum which is a catch-all specific to those brands and encourage users to talk about the models/fits/etc in specific threads to help consolidate the information and break out of the general discussion mentality (of which there could be a general thread under Japanese for all discussion of course). i'm not sure if that's senseless rambling or clear but i guess i'm saying that i'd like to hang out in a Japanese themed collection of content when discussing those brands.

This seems like it would make specific information easier to find and streamline the "General Discussion" thread into something more meaningful.

Maybe you missed the discussions that were had about this is several different topics of the forum but there is a specific number the Mods have chosen that a brand must reach as far as views and posts go to determine it's popularity which then earns it's on topic on the main page. So it's basically determined by the members. I agree that it is better to have each brands thread broken down in to their particular models/fits/etc. much like how the IH thread has evolved at you mentioned. Please keep in mind that any member of the forum at any time can go in to a brands page and create a thread for any parituclar model/fit/etc. that's related to that brand. You could go to the Oni thread right now and create a thread for the 517xxbe fabric/cut for example. It's always something I try to remember to do when I go to a particular brands page if I have the time and the knowledge of that particular brands products but feel free to do so yourself as we encourage all members to do so.

gotcha, ickes. at this point it's a self-fulfilling prophecy that the displayed sub-forums are going to get more action than those in the other bucket (ie. is Samurai destined to live inactively out of sight -- or if there's discussion for the brand, the hope is people find its thread and post to it) making this a Gustin/Lawless forum. does the suggestion force things to look like the following: Denim- MiUSA o General Discussion o Gustin o Lawless o Brand X o Brand Y o Brand Z - Japanese o General Discussion o Iron Heart o Brand X o Brand Y o Brand Z Footwear o Boots o Sneakers o Whatever Outerwear o General Discussion o Whatever Accessories o Wallets o Whatever Marketplace o Sell/Trade o WTB o Feedback o Shops o Sales/Codes i'll get better at creating new threads when i have something to post in the sub-forums though which may help. to that end, with something like RgT, if i wanted to post something about their new fall line and flannels that are launching, should that continue to just be done in the collective RgT thread or is the intent that becomes its own thread in "other" and if enough RgT threads pop-up, it gets an elevated sub-forum?

Computer. The suggestion is to put the current breadcrumb text into the title tag of the page, instead of every page having "Selvedge Style is a forum for..." in it. I find it useful to jumping around to have the individual page names there. Here's what I see when I pull up the browsing history from the back button: Here's the breadcrumb info (circled) that should be showing up in the page's <TITLE></TITLE> block. I'm guessing that the page is a dynamic one (page.php or somesuch) and it pulls the data from a DB or something. This should be a customizable option. It's late, did I make any sense?

Not sure. There's a lot we can do, and not do here. As it is, it's a free service so we kinda get what we pay for. There's some things that I need to look at and Ill see if there's something there. Maybe @winterland knows, but off the top of my head I'm not sure...

Ok so I found out this was my doing as I added the title so it shows up in the search engines. I have removed the title and will keep an eye on if we get less hits from the search engines because of this. The title not only shows up in the search engine results, describing what we are all about but can help it the forum actually show up if the words people search are in the title. I did find out that leaving out the title can actually be ok as the search engine crawlers will still find whatever posts are recent resulting in varying topics and words that could help in our search results after all. It should function now as you were wanting. I will say that I never use the history as you do. Maybe some other members do.

What's the deal with always having to login to the site? Something must be busted. It's super annoying how can we fix it?

What's the deal with always having to login to the site? Something must be busted. It's super annoying how can we fix it? The only time I experience this is with Safari on the iPad. I haven't tried Chrome for iPad to determine whether it's the app or the device, though. Works fine on my iPhone, PC, and MacBook. Edit: I'm trying Chrome on iPad now to see if it makes a difference.

No issues on Safari with my iPad, iPhone or Mac. SONUVABITCH! Yeah it's fine on my iPhone, I can't find the setting on the iPad that's making it forget that the site exists every time I don't click for five minutes. I also don't really care enough to track it down because I don't have to use Safari on the iPad. I'm just trying to illustrate that bozer isn't entirely crazy, that I have seen the issue, but (for me) it's localized to that one browser on one device. Since others have confirmed it works for them, that indicates it's a browser settings/privacy issue. edit: When I said I don't use Safari anywhere else, I forgot about my iPhone.

I had this issue a few pages back with my iPhone. It took clearing the cookies and history and restarting to bring things back to normal. Porn must have been causing issues.

He's not crazy, but neither are we The site is fine. There are myriad places that one has to check on one's device(s) to get things sorted. I do this 12 hours a day, and I tested it all out before posting that there is no issue here. He's not crazy, but he's not found the solution on his end either...

I'm on Windows, using Google Chrome. It happens on multiple PC's using Chrome too. Really weird. I'm an IT guy too =)
Let me see if I can fix it. I figured it was happening to everyone.

I figured it out. It was because I had the gustin section of this site set as my bookmark, rather then just having the main site as the bookmark.

A sub-forum for "Break-In's"...
I have an idea of a sub-forum where people post individual threads inside for themselves and a particular piece from their wardrobe(i.e., "UnTucked's Mister Freedom Midnight Peacoat") to document it with pic and commentary, and others to view the journey, and comment.
I got this idea because I know I really want to beat up my peacoat for say, the next 30 days, and I thought it would be a cool way to document it. Then I realized, I think it would be better to have it as a sub-forum where others can do the same, and it being a sub-forum would keep each thread more guided and focused, rather than a single thread of jumbled stuff

I like the idea. I can post my Gustin Italian BxB as new and just repost that same picture once a year.
I can do the same for my Oni 575, the one pair of Oni that don't fade like crazy.
