Is the signature edit feature broken? I can't get it to work in 2 browsers. Profile -> Edit Profile -> Personal -> Signature (toward the bottom). Right?? There is only an option to add a smiley and even that isn't working for me. Thanks for the help!! I think we disabled signatures for the forum to keep things clean looking. I could be wrong I will check into it. I still have one, but I can't do anything to it.

Could you pull PBJ out of Other Brands and put it under Selvedge with Oni, Iron Heart, etc? Thanks.

I think there may be too many brands on the main page of Selvedge. Gustin, TS, CF, and IH are definitely the heavy hitters and should be on the main page, while I think everything else should be in Other Brands.

It's better for keeping what we see as interesting vendors in the spotlight based on interest. The big guys already get plenty of play everywhere - we're trying to be a little more inclusive.

We moved the top four over from Other Brands to the main page, top four in terms of number of views and number of posts so I think for now it is good as it is. If interest starts to die off on any of the brands then we can take a look at them at a later date and move them if we see fit.

I can only see Ciano Farmer growing and beinga go to for custom clothing. Being heavy in canvas fabrics.
Bold prediction Lawless will shut down and will be moved into a new "vintage" section.
Other big name Japanese repro brands will gain popularity. The flat head, full count, the strike gold, real mccoys, buzz rickson.
This forum will continue to grow and evolve.
In the year 2000.

I think Oni would be better fit under the topic Rakuten, and that Rakuten should be on top. Also, there's some interest in N&F here, but it's just not nearly as big as the big 4.5: Gustin, CF, TS, IH, and .5 LD, so I thought it'd better make the Home Page look a bit less cluttered if they were left out of the top topics. The top topics are for the brands that will elicit sub topics, and N&F doesn't quite do it as well as a Rakuten topic would. Just my 2 cents.

Mods, is there a way to make this whole thing completely dynamic? You guys could, pick 5 spots or top X spots which are automatically allocated to the most "active" vendors. Active could be defined as most read / participated vendor threads. This way you don't need to decide and manually move things around. Vendors would automatically move in and out depending on the members interest. The more talked about the vendor is, the higher its priority in the list. And if people move on to different alternatives, it's priority automatically drops and it's moved to the "Other" list. Is there a programmatic hurdle in doing this?

i don't think any 'brands' should fall under a 'rakuten' board. rakuten is akin to a shop portal and in my opinion the discussions there should be specific to questions about ordering from rakuten, comments on particular vendors, restocks of items, and/or great finds/deals.
oni...like pbj and iron heart is a brand that can be found in the u.s. market as well. the only relation to rakuten is that you can get them for less than you can here in the states. i'd argue that ts doesn't belong under the 'selvedge' topic since their jeans aren't typically what is discussed here...but that's a very diminutive nit to pick.
my 'real' suggestion is for the mods to post a sticky on each of the 'new' brand boards encouraging people to create new relevant sub-topics like found in the gustin or lawless threads. a review thread, new finds, vendor suggestions, etc. as it is i can see people just continuing to add to the single catch all topic in each of those boards...which negates the value of having them in individual boards to begin with.

Yes, that sounds right. Rakuten does not belong under brands. It's not a brand. As you say, it's a shopping portal. Roughly similar to ebay (as it aggregates vendors). In other words, ebay and Rakuten are similar and you'd never think of ebay as a brand.
And individual brands don't belong under Rakuten.
Edit: I just checked the organization. Both ebay and Rakuten are under ...online retailers, so that seems right as it is.

I think Rakuten can very well be used as a topic because people on this forum don't really use Rakuten for anything but Japanese denims, unlike eBay. And it can be used very effectively with sub topics, instead of it just being it's own thread. Rakuten - IH subtopic, Rakuten - Oni subtopic, Rakuten - PBJ subtopic, etc to help organize it better.
And Oni isn't quite that popular here in this forum to be it's own topic, because people on this forum don't really shop for Oni here in the United States, but rather from Rakuten, where it would be a good place for Oni to be a subtopic of.
The same can't be said of PBJ or Iron Heart, because plenty of people will purchase those from retailers from all over the world.

An 'other brands' board...sure...but not a vendor driven board. If I were a newcomer looking for info on a brand I'd never think to 'oh, it's probably in the rakuten board' Then again, I'd also argue that oni is more popular than pbj, but that's likely personal bias talking.

I think PBJ wins on pictures (thanks @untucked), but the Demon Denim seems to be more readily available, so more people have that cell bitch in their hands right now. I think they're both pretty great, regardless of where you find them on the forum. Putting either one under Rakuten makes no sense though.

As I stated above fellas, the brands that we gave their own boards were the brands that are the most popular right now as far as number of views and/or posts. Oni has PBJ beat by a considerable amount, FYI. However PBJ is currently the most popular brand in the Other Brands board.
This is good convo though guys, keep it going and we are always open to suggestions and ideas.

Sorry no options on the forum for something like this. We are in a way doing this manually as we move up brands that are being talked about more.

Can we add a topic for General Retailers (I.e. JCrew, Banana, Uniqlo, etc.) I don't know where to post when talking about suiting from companies like JCrew. Or am I missing it somewhere.

Suggestion:
Move Oni and naked and famous back to the other brand category for lack of activity.

I just noticed that all pages have the same title: "Selvedge Style is a forum...". Can we pull the thread name into the page title?
