Anyone own a pair of Japan Blue? I think the JB0407 look like a cool pair. Memphis Cotton/Zimbabwe blend.
I'm curious on the quality of these though, whether or not they'd live up to IH or PBJ quality.

I'm curious on the quality of these though, whether or not they'd live up to IH or PBJ quality. My friend owns a pair of Japan Blues. They're good jeans, nothing wrong with them at all, and they have some interesting fabrics, but I don't personally feel they're quite to the same standard as IH or PHJ. I know many disagree, but I've always felt IH and PBJ were peferable to Momotaro and JB are from the same stable as Momo.

I've got a pair. Dont wear them that much. The fit is more slim then the Gustin slims (in the thigh mostly). I find the pocket openings to be very small. The denim itself is ok, but like I said I don't have much wear in them. From the get go the fabric seems a little uneventful. But I think Zim denim looks better with age/wear. Construction and hardwear I'd say is similar to Gustin (nothing jumps out as being much better or worse). I do like the Blue tread on the leg inseam. All and all I'd go with A pair of Gustins Zim's and save a $80.

DigDug, are yours the 020x cut? I've been eying the 040x cut which seems to have a little more room than G Slim. With OkayamaDenim's current pricing, they're less than G Zims and don't require the three or four month wait.

Thanks! I'm surprised that the 400 cut would be as slim as G, I thought The 200 fit was closer to G Slim.

Also in pic Gustin TShirt Also did a quik measure of the thighs. Came in at 12.25 compared to Gustins HA size 36 slim which is 13" So the Japan Blues are bit smaller. Upper block feels the same.

I like the non limited edition 16.5oz. better, they appear to run about $130. I like the cobalt thread running down the inseam.

My friend owns a pair of Japan Blues. Which I now own He only wore them once and had ordered a bit too small initially and then put on some weight. I swapped them for a pair of PRPS that were too big for me. They're the 14.8oz Model JB0401 pair: www.blueowl.us/product/japan-blue-148oz-tapered-vintage-raw-selvedge-denim-model-jb0401/Other than the PRPS not being of any use to me now, the main reason for swapping is that the JP's fit me like a dream. Going to use them as a daily wear pair and for taking out when it's raining or I run the risk of getting them dirty. I'd still maintain that, while they're very well made, they're not overly interesting but they're definitely a solid pair of jeans and, as I say, their 401 cut is perfect for me.
