Aside from the New Balance 996's, I grabbed a pair of these Vans - couldn't resist. It's not raw denim, but they'll look good with my denim. Vans in two-tone denim

Trying to find them for my Dad's 80th. Only found one site with them - size 8 only, but $330. If anyone finds these somewhere please let me know. US sizes 9, 9.5 and 10 here - if that helps? www.uptherestore.com/product/m996bhr A pair of these popped up on ebay, in my size, for $150. Seller has 100% rating. Question is, should I be concerned ?

The shoe is new enough that they should be expected to have some kind of proof of purchase (even if they bought second-hand). If they have that, it'd help to establish authenticity. On the other hand, I very much doubt anyone would be making fakes of these, they're not well known enough. Did the seller give a reason for the sale? Is that price BIN or a starting point?

Not generally a fan of Reebok but couldn't pass up this bargain... special edition collab with The Distinct Life, £120 ($179) reduced to £37 ($55)! The materials and construction on these is top-tier. Distinct Life x Reebok Olive GL6000.

That is the BIN price. Very little by way of description. It only says they are new, and only tried on for fitting. I agree, it would be pretty early in the game for fakes. The low price, and lack of information has me wondering what may be wrong with them. It's one of those " too good to be true " moments.

That is the pair. I've got a similar rationale. I think I'm going to throw caution to the wind. Wish me luck.

Not my first choice for a pair of 70's Chucks (its my last choice out of only 6 or so colors that they make). But for only $24 what the hell. My plan is to fade them (stick them in a sunny window) to tone them down. Maybe even bleach them.? Also Bought a pair of Surplus Green Lo's.

I kid, I've debated buying them too and overdying them, or trying Kakishibu. Seems like a light sanding and RIT dye might lead to interesting results and like you said, just bleaching them might be a fun experiment too. Bonus points if you can work in the dryer and a trip to the tailor to convert them to low tops. Hmm, maybe not. But maybe so:

I like the Kikishibu idea on a pair of Parchment colored ones. These may react oddly to that. Maybe an overdye or bleach or best yet a day in the Salt Mines.

I've been on a Saucony binge lately. All I do is look at pictures of the various styles and collabs out there. I think they have some of the tightest profiles out there. Now I found Asics Gel Lyte III's and that's a whole other obsession.\
Mind you I can't actually justify buying anything right now, and I already have too many shoes as my wife likes to point out.

Saucony have been putting out some great shoes over the last year or so - although my only issue with them is that a lot of their releases seem virtually indistinguishable from other shoes they've put out (even quite recently). And they like their grey almost as much as New Balance... Gel Lyte IIIs are one of my favourite silhouettes. Even in some of the more dubious colourways they always manage to look 'right'. Absolutely love the Japanese denim release from a month or two ago and am trying to convince mysel I really don't need anymore black trainers as the new 'Laser Etched' pack is also really nice (that wood panel heel counter is great!)

Those gel lytes are super fly. I've been eying the laser etched and denim ones too. Just too much money for shoes. I'm going to try to pick up this pair of Reebok GL 6000s later today. The Ventilators are also pretty cool.

Got a good deal on a pair of 70's Chucks (see above) But clearly they are for clowns. Thought I might wear them to embarrass the kids but decided to Bleach them instead. From what I've seen I should end up with a pair of off white (parchment). Was thinking of getting some Natural Indigo to dye them.

DigDug I think those look kind of amazing how they are! It's interesting that the red is super bright after the bleaching, but that steel blue is an amazing color.

It's interesting how the colors reacted. The steel blue was the Kelly Green, the off white was the blue, and the orange tongue was the red. The red stripe down the back didn't change at all. Its made of a different material (poly). I could wear them now and they would beat up nicely but I think I'll experiment more with them. And make my own pair of natural indigo's like 3sixteen did.

Those look great! I had no idea the heel stripe wasn't cotton. Should look great when they're dyed. Keep us posted.

Vans in two-tone denimHad these and finally sold them last year after sitting DS in my closet for years: www.nicekicks.com/2012/09/07/nice-kicks-vans-vault-present-the-duel/ always thought this forum would appreciate them; quality is through the roof but they run a half-size snug due to the gauge of leather & denim used. I never felt good about denim on foot (for me) so I never wore them. I do have and love my Harris Tweed Era though: sneakernews.com/2012/11/28/harris-tweed-x-vans-vault-era-46/ the two tone tweeds & contrasting eyelets are a really nice touch you only really notice in person. I like them so much that I've been trying to pick up a spare pair lately for later years. With any luck, one may still find either shoe posted in their size on eBay, but beware they are old and we're both limited.

Bleached Chucks..... These started out as black Oxfords. I used different concentrations of bleach to get the different shades of fade, i.e. 3 capsule in a sink of water for the darker base shade; a 50/50 mix for the medium shade; pure bleach for the more white shade

Dyed my bleached Chuck70's. Very cool how the indigo reacts with the air. They came out of the vat line green an after ten minutes turned indigo. Just have to decide which color laces
