I like retro styled tennis shoes. I currently wear NB 574's but like the 1300's as well. Can't bring myself to drop $160 on tennis shoes though. Also own A couple variants of the Adidas ZX500's ( red/grey, red/snakeskin). Also have Adidas Campus and shell toes that rarely get worn. NB stands out for me though cuz they last forever, especially the uppers. Never had issues with the toe holes that form from everyday use - Adidas is horrible in this dept, especially with their cheaper shoes

I used to wear lots of diferent sneakers, mainly skater-brands like fallen, airwalk, and such, but after beiong on the fedora lounge there has really only been one brand that has cut it and that is converse. I have not chosen the most vintage look tho, but have always gone for the most comfiest ones but still not over the top, like leather premium (that has a better sole), john varvatos, jack purcell and such. Cant find the exact ones I have but not far from theese: I implore anyone into Converse, or specifically Chuck Taylors, to pick up a pair of the 70's. SUCH a better shoe than the standard CTAS & Ox, and still far better than the comfier-than-usual CONS Pro edition of Chucks. I never had a pair of Chucks as an adult until a year or so ago, as one of my best friends works for Converse Corporate and sends me plenty at no charge (can't say no to that). I have got to say that the 70's are so much more dense/heavy, far more comfortable, and feel more tough or heavy duty than the normal / premium / pro Chucks. I also receive loads of compliments on my 70's, which I never in my life expected of wearing Chucks. I was a shoe collector, sneaker enthusiast, or "sneakerhead" from about 2003-2013. Living in smaller space after smaller space now, I've been slowly forced to give up the shoe collecting, and have streamlined quite a bit. Having used to buy at least one pair of Nike or Jordan shoes per month, it's really relieving to not be so caught up in it anymore. I love how tough and comfortable my 70's are (I have black, white, and navy lows; black, and yellow highs), the quality and dressed-up casual feel of my dressier premium leather Jack Purcells, and while I used to rave about Lunar / SolarSoft / Flyknit technology from Nike - I really haven't had a pair of Nike shoes on foot in months. I decided to pick up my first pair of adidas a couple weeks ago while we were on holiday in Paris, putting on between 15-20 miles on foot per day. I picked up a pair of the Y3 Yohji Boost (an adidas PureBoost shoe) and haven't stopped raving about it since. The PureBoost sole is just crazy to me, as it's softer and bouncier than anything I've ever had before, and kept tiredness, soreness, and foot fatigue away all day even when doing hours on foot and miles after miles. I'm already after getting a second pair, so I'm not limited to just this b/w colorway. Emphasis on most comfortable soles I've ever had on my feet. Having been charmed by adidas, I'm now looking to pick up a few silhouettes that I've always appreciated, like the Stan Smith and one or two of the new offerings from the Barbour x adidas collab this Fall. I do my best to aim for having 20 or less pairs of shoes though, so I gotta run a tight ship. My girlfriend is always reminding me of my 40+ pairs of Nikes, Jordans, and limited skateboarding shoes in a storage unit (that need to be sold).

Could you give me an example from ebay (if they are there) on what model the 70 is since many listings list all words in the dictionary its hard to know whats what. I also wonder, as a sneaker collector, did you ever use the Eric Coston k3 skatershoe, I had the black, with white sole and red underneath. I believe that shoe was made too well because I had them forever and they just went on going. It was the best sneaker I ever wore. They were very snug at the beginning (more then you are used to) but broke in like a dream.

Hell yes you can Diggity...It's all about how you carry yourself. If you sport them with confidence...They look great, in any color or design, ie: the flag, or the other wild designs. BUT...only with jeans and a T shirt, I wouldn't sport them with khakis and a nice shirt...of course, I've never tried that....maybe it's possible.

Here is a good post showing off some 70s and a short press write-up of them: blog.kithnyc.com/2013/03/converse-1970s-chuck-taylor-all-star-high-low-kith-nyc/Never had Kostons, I got out of skate shoes around 97/98 and back into them in 02/03. When I got back in, I was only into Nike SB and occasional (unusual) Vans offerings. Nowadays, if and when I ride a board it's just riding, no tricks, so I no longer wear skate footwear.

They are pretty nice ...I think @untucked , with his love of earthy tones, might like the butterscotch ones, but I don't know if he's a sneaker kinda guy. I think he's more of a boot guy. Even if he does like them, shipping to Japan could pose a problem. I'm for sure getting a pair, sorry wifey

Just picked up a pair of these at a stupidly reduced sale price (£105 down to £36!) The lack of overt branding that seems to have hurt the sales of them is one of the reasons I actually wanted them. Nike F.C. Real Bristol NSW Tiempo '94 SP 'Camo'

They just don't have much place in the current rendition of my wardrobe. I used to be a huge sneakerhead/collector, actually... But it started getting out of control; I was buying anywhere between 5-10 pairs of basketball shoes per month... Check the price out Jordans or LeBron James' and you will want to cry

Couldn't believe my luck last night, was browsing around for trainers and one of my grail pairs had a limited re-stock and the shop had my size. So happy to have these on their way to me - really thought I'd missed out (and wasn't going to pay the 40% premium on eBay) The leather sections are by Horween, niiiiiiiice.

Can you post some pics of your actual shoes here? Those looked great. Sure, here's a couple - they really don't do them any justice though. As soon as you pick these things up you sense the quality level.

As soon as you pick these things up you sense the quality level. Does the weird slant to the shoe affect walking? I think I would trip all the time... They have like a downward curvature...

They fit like a glove and are exceptionally comfortable. The Encap sole is great and, despite the 'sloping' appearance, you don't notice it at all once you're wearing them. I've not worn them for any extended period as yet, or even out of the house, but I'd confidently say they're the highest quality pair of trainers I own. There's a good overview of them here: www.crookedtongues.com/news/new-balance-m997pr-premium-at-a-price

www.greats.comAnybody have any experience with this brand? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger since I'll probably never break down and buy the $400 dollar Lanvin Sneakers I really want.

Julian I like the speckled nature of the soles. Fine looking sneakers though I would switch out for dark navy or brown laces.
