How's the construction on those Duluth overalls? Not that impressive. But these seem to be an older version so I'm not sure about the new ones. The elastic straps are a week link as they have been reported to overstretch. The fire hose canvas is ok but I dont see a big difference compared to DuckCanvas. They seem like they would be a good pair for Summer (lighter, not now that I've put a pound of wax on them) In the future I'll buy a pair of Carhartt's. For now I got them cheep and I liked the color better.

So I made this veg tan bifold wallet about a year ago. It has space for 4 cards plus pocket under each side. Pros: I absolutely love the design--it fits my needs perfectly. It's very functional, just the right size, holds exactly what I need and nothing more, and is just the right thickness. Cons: I chose bad leather. Experience has now taught me that you've got to get good veg tan leather (the older the animal the better) so that it turns that beautiful golden/orange/brown over time. Because I apparently bought craptastic leather, it has turned a dirty dark yellow/tan. It doesn't necessarily look bad, it just doesn't look like I want it to, and it never will. I was planning to make myself a veg tan gym bag over the holidays, and I think i'll make a replacement wallet while I'm at it. TL;DR: Buy good leather if you are going through the trouble of making something. Here's the original thread: selvedgestyle.com/thread/364/handmade-veg-tan-bifold-walletAnd what it looks like now:

Mixed up my own Solid Cologne. All in cost was about $40 but I have enough to make 30oz of the stuff and a very wide verity of scents. Plus these are some of the same ingredients for the home brew DYI waxed canvas.

So my Ikea table started to look very bad on the top. It was plain white like this: So I got some cheap pine-boards and micro-v-edged them with a hand-tool. I sanded them and broke off some split-ends along the board that werent sticking to the boards and just sanded out smooth to create some character. Then I f!@ked it up a little with some tools to create a coupple of small dents. Then stained dark 4 coats....sanded off and left the dark in the grooves....then walnut-stained it 2 coats and finnished with a grey hardwax. Here is the result: You can still pull out 2 legs and place the board so it becomes a table for 3 at each side, but the board is the standard white one, this one is imaculate tho. I saw a table similar to this for $1000 and I don't think I gave more then $200 for the wood and equipment. Got sore arms tho.

I made a "drift-wood"-mirror. Retail here: $250 and up Mine: $52 (but I already had the stain/wax and the metal-wire for hanging it) Bought a cheap mirror at IKEA. Pineboard that I selected with the right cut, making sure to get ones with the core in the middle. So I scraped out the core wich would happen in the sea, and then I did same as the table and felt the wood and pulled out whatever was a little loose so it came "natural" and random. I then made some bigger holes and irregularities to even it out until I felt it looked right. That was the fun part, now to make it look old I just had to brush back and forth many times with a steelbrusch (one that you use to remove rust with), this removes the soft-wood and leaves it uneven, also somewhat what happens in nature. Next I cut the corners using the 90-angle on a handsaw and sawed and then filed it so it fitted but not too perfect. Then walnutstain all over and smoked oak in the cracks. Then the liquid grey wax. I went a little crazy with the wax since driftwood is really more grey, but I wanted to match the table somewhat. I really worked the wax wet all over to get it into the grooves, and then dried off until it looked right but still kept some in the grooves. This had to be done many times since it changed the look after it had dried some. I'm kinda happy with it but the color is a little too red, but that's the stain I had. There is "driftwood"-stain to be bought, or if you don't have to match anything just sand it smooth and mix 50/50 white waterbased paint with water and it will look like real driftwood!

After 4 days of soaking in a bucket of bleach, I think I have the world's first and only IHSH-33WH western with gold thread and black snaps. More pics to come after washing and machine drying.

It's not that I didn't like my IHSH-33ind, I just had a hunch that a white one would totally rock, so I took the risk. I'll be filling the void with an IHSH-76 (17oz shirt/jac)lol.

If they made the ihsh-33 in off white/natural, I'd probably buy it.

my opinion is that it has turned out GREAT, from the perspective of it being an at home DIY project! I believe I proposed it a while ago, with no response from the powers that be, but I hope it can get some consideration.

Already posted it on the IH forum. I'll see what chaos comes from it lol Really demonstrates the durability & construction (4 days in bleach??). Looks ok/worn gold to me...but maybe you have more chapters to come, lol. Splendid shirts.

Everything I read online said it should be fine so long as there were no holes or tears in the fabric. The pic above, it's still very wet. The single layer areas are fairly white, and the collar, cuffs, yoke, placket and pockets all are darker because of the dual layers.

@untucked, that's exactly the shirt I want, but can't get it anywhere. I'd buy a new version in an instant.
I'm not brave enough to do that to a good shirt though, so I'll just have to hope that someone will make it sometime.

That's some balls right there. I get too much of a 70's disco cowboy feel from a white western I don't have the balls to wear it.

As in, I think Glen Campbell visited the future and is wearing this actual shirt in the video starting at 0:55 below. Of course, he has gone that extra mile and attached a sweet embroidered western bib to the front of his.

I have contemplated them..... But, wearing at the same time would be a huge faux pas.

A white denim tuxedo is far too formal for even the most skilled cowboy or ranch hand, lol
