Love the idea, hate the transmission. Not a huge fan at all. Although they apparently are quite good.

how about a classic truck? I came across a listing for a 1992 Chevy C1500 for $20k the other day. 1 owner and less than 10,000 miles. It's a butt-ugly turquoise color but a nice jet black paint job would solve that problem.

Small update (I know you guys have been on the edge of your car seats Getting the BMW looked at from a shop that specializes on German cars. The dealer gave an estimate of $2600 to replace the CV/axles. The independent shop said he could do it for $600. Still like the Bimmer and would like to get a few more years out of it. but that WRX will be our next car.

That's why you go to independents!

Exactly. A friend had a Ferrari that the dealer wanted $3,300 to replace the a/c system on. A buddy who runs a shop replaced the one faulty part for $160.

Coming from a more refined BMW I had to look up what "hoon about" meant. Lol I never was interested in Subies. But after test driving every new car available, the WRX is were we landed. It'll be my wife's daily driver and she loves driving it. Only complaint she has is the "Boy Racer" stigma.

As long as she doesn't put a Chock Full O' Nuts can on the tailpipe, she shouldn't have to worry about anything.

People love their mods. No garage and no mechanical aptitude, so I stick to stock.

I totally flogged my GTI for the first year I had it, then our first kid showed up and now I pretend to be an adult *sigh*

I have a ten month old and flog the family BMW. My poor old M Couoe had plenty of track time and general abuse. Still looking at the Focus RS and used 997's, but also just realized used DB9's and Vantages are "reasonably" priced.

Friends don't let friends drive stock. Dynotech tuning my buddies shop right in Seekonk if you feel the need to get power after warranty expires of course.
No way around it the WRX will have the more masculine lines and a boy racer feel. It's a "rally" car and inside feels like it. It isn't a BMW and doesn't try to be.
Cool cars. I've never been a boxer motor fan.

Used 09+ vantage V8's are pretty reasonable and you get a ton of car for the money. Step up to around 75k and you can find a Ferrari 360.... I will be interested to see how the RS turns out when the wheels hit the road. The current AWD system in the Taurus is horrible built like glass. Clunks and clicks. Hopefully they did it right the car could be amazing.

1969 Ford F250 1970 Ford F250 Here's a couple more mint condition Ford trucks with low mileage I found on CL. It's too bad I live in MN. It's almost pointless to drive one of these beauties with all the salt they use on the roads here during the winter months

Don't drive it during the winter. After the salt gets washed away use it as a summer car.
Can always coat the bottom with fluid film. As long as we live on a planet with oxygen there will be rust oh yes there will be rust.

Don't use it to much during the winter but it's a shame not to. It's a Tank

Fluid film is great. Hell I would spray the WRX with it.

I'm still wondering if Subaru will design something for the wrc, it'd be nice to see them back in rally racing, but they don't have a 1.4 liter, and all their cars are way too big. Anyway, fingers crossed for a pocket rocket from subie.
