A red GT4 passed me yesterday. Dear lord. I've been shopping used 997.2's, but will always prefer the Cayman to the 911, just need the back "seats." mid-engine for the win! If they weren't so damn stubborn they would have stopped trying to force the physics in the 911 long ago, but they just keep getting better, so who am I to judge? 993's were the peak. 911's with radiators are silly. Yet I still want one. Mainly because I can't afford a super low mileage 993 or any 1966 - 1971. Should we talk about Singers?

Dammit man I'd almost forgotten completely about those. Now I'm depressed again. heh By better I guess I mean "less and less likely to wrap themselves around trees". They'll never live down James Dean, even though that wasn't a 911.

Scary cars are fun cars. Up until they're not.

Rich morons push the cars and die when they bite. I also like the viper pre-electrical nannies. And cars with pop up headlights. I hate traction and stability control. Damn government safety mandates.

DigDug - what you listed wasn't 8k worth of maintenance if so find a new shop! Tires shop around Brakes do yourself Axel is kinda easy too especially if you're taking the wheel and caliper off for brakes anyways. Mounts can be a bitch. Honestly that all should be way less than 8k. You're getting screwed on that price. Also even if it's 6k....that's probably less than you will get hit with for first year depreciation....depending on the loan might be around your interest cost.

If you like the brz/frs check out the new miata. The new Miata looks sweet, I just hate convertibles.

You can get tires much cheaper at Discount, etc. do the brakes yourself, but don't forget a new sensor for One front and one rear. You could actually strip the interior trim to make the rear shock mounts accessible and save a few hundred. That alone was $600 on my old M Coupe. Didn't take long to learn to do it myself.

If you like the brz/frs check out the new miata. Had an NB before my M Coupe, but I need a back seat, otherwise I'd already have an ND on order.

Looks like we may be ordering a WRX ( There saying it could take a couple months to get). Wife is coming around to the sporty look. Automatic but it'll.be her daily run about town car.

Here are all four, the second to the front is the NC hartop, there was a traditional (and lighter and just all around better) soft top version too:

They have a hardtop convertible. The convertible hard-top doesn't appear to have carried over into the 2016 (at least not yet). However, 45 fewer horses than a brz for more money, and the brz includes a back seat for the semi-legless.

Isn't there supposed to be a new S2000 coming, too? It'd be nice to see Honda getting back on the performance game, but maybe what they've got going on in F1 right now is discouraging them.

The BRZ did nothing for me when I drove it. Very underpowered.

Of note, VW just comically underrates the GTI/A3 motor, it really makes around 260 crank HP.

Hknda has their collective head up their ass and can't get the NSX sorted, we're a decade away from something like a new S2k.
