Interested in the high kW version that can do 3.1 0-60 runs. Pretty sure my current place would burn down if I tried to charge at 220v though.

Tesla what a trend.
Love the idea but really let's see the car first. Reviews, test drives etc. Sight unseen (read driven) are you kidding me?
Idealists.

Buying a "cool electric" car. Nutty. Putting a deposit on a car that you don't know anything about besides the fact it's a tesla from elon musk. It's a car and electric there ya go. Hope it sucks like the Vega.

My manager has a S and just picked up his wife's X yesterday. I went with him in his S and that thing is just so much sweeter than my last e-hybrid. The technology was so out there and you guys need to check out the summon mode and autopilot videos on youtube.
Due to my current economic situation, I can only a afford a Tesla 3.... the $1k is totally refundable and it would be crazy if the 3 comes with an insane mode of some kind. I can totally use a car in the 3's.

I still don't see electric (read coal) cars will dominate the auto industry in the foreseeable future. It's going to take time.

Eventually electric will make sense. But we are far off from that point. Electric car fires are horrific and insanely dangerous.

Well, and barring any significant investment in renewables.

$35K with 0-60 in less than 6 seconds. DAMN. What's the range on it? And with a sudden flooding of the market of cheaper Tesla 3s, there's no way in hell you'll be able to get a spot at the mall to charge your Tesla anymore.

Btw, rumor has it that the fast version of the Tesla 3 will be in the high 3's to low 4's from 0-60. Free life-time super charging too. Forget about the tax credit. 150K pre-order as of now.

Also over 300 mile range for the dual motor versions.

I just bought a Mazda 6 GT. To think I could have waited for the Tesla for just a bit more money...maybe I will regret this.

I just bought a Mazda 6 GT. To think I could have waited for the Tesla for just a bit more money...maybe I will regret this. There are some interesting stories about Tesla supply issues. Guys with a cracked windshield waiting months for replacements and then losing certain technology because the replacement windshield didn't have the same cameras and sensors. Collision repairs are apparently a big mess and frequently Tesla just sends a new car and buys back the damaged one. Not having actual dealers in many states also creates issues and their ability to do over the air updates has caused a few brickings, etc. It will be interesting to see how they handle the extra scale this model will bring. The Roadster, S and X have all been pretty low volume cars and almost entirely supplemental vehicles. The 3 will become many peoples only car and previous issues that were less severe for folks with a back up plan will become show stoppers. I'm not sure Tesla is ready for this.

It looks like the Tesla 3 will have all the cool technology "hardware" but they (eg. autopilot) will not be enabled until you pay for the software update (similar to the S and X today). Also, unlike the other two models, people are now saying that the 3 may need to pay to use the charging stations.
With my speed racer inner child, I would opt for the sub 5 or even 4 seconds model. With all options price in, I don't believe I will be able to get one that I WANT for less than $50k. Since Tesla already has over $5 billion in pre-sale orders, being lazy and not got on line to reserve a car yesterday morning probably has cost me about $10k on government rebate. I am going to wait it out. No reason to rush anymore.

Not being a guy who buys new technology quickly I'm skeptical of Teslas long term reliability. All batteries fade overtime so the numbers will only go down in the long run. I'd be concerned about the range and acceleration after 5 years of daily use. Until they have a long term history they'll continue to be a second car status symbol only.
I have seen more Maserati on the road in the last year than ever. They have a similar look.

So yeah I have a car from the middleages that you can still scew apart and get together again and it started in safe-mode yesterday woho it only ran up to 2000 rpm and could get into 3d gear if there was a slope. So a friend had equipment to connect a PC and read the status and it was saying the ETM was faulty. I know I have the Bosch one and not the bad MagnetiMirelli but still this was what made it kick into safemode (limp home). I took it out and cleaned yesterday and it have been running ok since then but I have only started it a few times so its a little early to say but man does this image do good for the soul: Before and after: Had to take out the airbox, fan and disconnect the turbo pipe. But a new ETM costs $720 and I gave $8 for a new metal gasket and that was it.

Nice. If it wasn't for the terrible weather we get, I'd be getting an old car again. Just so simple to work on. What car do you have Griffin ?

Griffin volvo? quite a difference some throttle body cleaner and an old toothbrush can make (at least that's what i used to use on my vw). seems like i was cleaning the throttle body every 2 years or so...being careful not to damage the mass air flow sensor. fortunately that and trimming brittle vacuum lines was the only maintenance i ever really needed to do to that car.

Its not very old but Just before All this common rail and sensor on everything stuff. Its a 2004 Volvo v70 5cylinder 180 hp and petrol. Its still alot of electronics but much of maintenance is mechanical and a $15 pipeset can almost take the whole car apart and back again hehe.
I Just used throttle cleaner and an old tshirt and let the device be plugged in during the whole operation to not getting any computer errors and also i opened the Flow and held it open for the entire cleaning.
I havent gotten the error since i did this so hopefully it did the trick. This is 13 years of gunck so im hoping i never have to do this again as much fun as it was there are other areas that needs attention hehe.
