Hi,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Does anyone find it strange that there appears to be so little hype or attention for Ciano Farmer even though their quality appears to be competitive with Gustin and Lawless?
Even in terms of threads here, there just seems to be little in the way of publicity for Ciano, any thoughts regarding why this is so?

I think they're taking it slower and avoiding some of the mistakes we're seeing in these other crowd-funding-sourced brands. The quality is definitely up there, the fit advice seems to be a little bit confusing, as it has taken a number of people a couple times to get it right, but Ciano has been very forthright with this forum and generous with his time, which is definitely appreciated. I'm trying to give pre-pay stuff a bit of a break since I have a nasty kickstarter habit, but I'm likely to order some canvas pants from him soon.

I agree with exophobe, in that I think they are taking is slowly, and not having sales, and building backlog they can't manage, like some of our friends. I have a pair of chinos being sent out today, and am looking forward to check the fit, but should be fine, since I ordered off their 905 chart, without any mods. From the time I paid, until now has been 5 weeks, and that is with 2 Holidays, and them having to find a new source for buttons, as they were sent fake corozo buttons, and changed vendors. I have to say, it is refreshing to see someone hit their mark, as far as when they estimate delivery, and actually be able to accomplish it.

Yes I find it a little strange but it's nice. Hopefully they continue to grow slow and not dive to far into things.
Also I hope they continue to get cool fabrics.

Well, here's my take - I sent a request here on Dec 12, 2014 for a sample of 30oz and never got a reply. So for me, first contact was not impressive. Sure, I'm some guy asking for a free sample, but I have a drawer filled with leather samples from all over the globe and in turn I have spent ~$20k on jackets. So I guess I expected to get at least a reply. Maybe the gear doesn't interest as many folks here? Dunno, it's like asking why the brunette isn't getting as many likes as the ginger. All personal taste... (for the record, I married a brunette and like them all)

@wils he's talking about ciano farmer...you have a pair of their jeans. Oh, I thought "Hype Train" is a brand.... sorry. Hard to read on the phone sometime. Regarding CF, I was the first person to review its product here and I'm totally adore my 20oz from its KS. All the little details that Ciano put onto the jeans are pretty amazing in that price range and I personally think it is the best value out there if you love denim with heritage details. I think the CF brand doesn't get hype up as much as Gustin here because not a lot of people has experienced with its product just yet. It is also a smaller operation and the fabric selection is a bit limited. Thankfully, Ciano is finding the market gap on canvas pants lately and I cannot wait to see more reviews here. For members who love the hertiage of denim and "hand made" goods, I will buy Ciano Farmer over Gustin if the fabric and price are the same. When you hold a pair of CF on your hand, they maybe a bit rough on the edges but you can actually "feel" the work that the sewers have put into the jeans. It is almost like holding a pair of Iron Heart in more rugged quality. Only potential concern is for any potential customer to pay attention to its fit (ask for a more modern cut with lower waist) and the size. They can be quite different than LD and Gustin.

to some extent i think it amounts to timing. their kickstarter campaign was running at/around the same time as some other denim kickstarters and didn't generate quite as much buzz or funding as gustin or lawless. from what we've seen here the product quality has been great. that along with a willingness to participate here and be pretty accessible and eager to please the customers (not sure what happened with Old26's lack of contact)...and hopefully they'll see some nice growth. i know they're pretty swamped with orders now. ciano contacted me last night about my pending order (today was the 5 week mark) to let me know he plans to have them out by the weekend. a tiny bit late, but not terrible by any means. @wils...i figured that's what happend. i thought it was funny

Ciano has just finished a pair for me Hes sent loads of photos but I didn't want to put them up here until I've got them in my hands (I think he's going to hold onto them until my second pair is done)
I think there's less hype because he's not active on social media

I think that their timing had a lot to do with it. They popped up after Lawless, so anyone that backed lawless probably wasn't going to back another similar item. Plus, Ciano was more expensive...but had some better features that I thought would be worth the extra $$$$. I might also point out that there was a company that didn't get backed Dulac If I remember correctly, their video was just like Gustins and ended with "join us" They had 13 oz zimbabwe jeans for $90 and couldn't reach their $28K goal. They fell waaaaaaaaay short of it. I also think that part of their problem was that they had a lot of blue, but nothing else. All the denims looked identical. So these guys came out I think after Ciano and Lawless ended so the brahs had more on order than they knew what to do with. That was my case after backing both lawless and Ciano. I did a full review of the one pair of jeans that I received from Ciano with multiple issues. The biggest being how they changed size charts after the kickstarter closed and didn't notify anyone that there were changes. Kickstarter still showed the old chart last time I checked. I know at least one other person had this issue and still no update for backers. These guys like make jeans so much, they want to do it twice! Also, they requested I send them what I wanted with the corrected pair and my other on order and then dropped off e-mail since 06 January. I never got the ship label to return my jeans to them. So I am probably out of the earlier bird club forever and ever. I have been bad. So I am basically done with these guys after I get my kickstarter orders, but that is just me...and if my jeans did have all of the features, they would be worth it. Actually, worth more than what I paid if you compare to the likes of Gustins etc. Their measurements were pretty much dead on with their new fit charts. Everyone else also seems to have positive experiences with these guys. I think I just got unlucky and then rubbed them the wrong way by posting about it. I get that, they work hard on something and then some jerk goes to the internets and poops all over it. But this is business...and pimpin' ain't easy.

I don't have experience with ciano personally but lawless also changed size charts multiple times. I went from XXL to a large. Jeans changed too.

I think deviating from a standard sizing chart(s) is a bad idea myself. The more complex any vendor makes getting goods, the less likely I am to get them. I now have an odd feeling that my Montana may come in looking like it was made for someone else. I basically have made myself forget about it as to be hopefully and pleasantly surprised if/when it arrives.

I think CF is going to through some of the learning exercises on needing to say "no" especially on deviation from the fit chart. Those changes add time and cost and I think he is struggling through the KS campaign because of that.

Internet dude 1: I didn't get a free sample I requested or a response. Internet dude 2: They messed up my order and I haven't heard from them in weeks. Ciano: Sorry internet dude 1, we will get back to you right away! You have my most sincere apologies.

Ciano: Sorry internet dude 1, we will get back to you right away! You have my most sincere apologies. Your order still hasn't been resolved yet, Internet dude 2? I am on radio silence or "time out" now. They said to send them instructions on what I wanted exactly (as if I wasn't clear using their order form they told me to use, the fit chart on kickstarter and a photo posted on their kickstarter site. I see they now use a different order form and back pocket rivets are an option, so I can see how they missed it but that doesn't make it ok) and that I would get an e-mail with a return shipping label. I responded on Jan 6 and heard nothing in response. E-mailed them a day or two ago (before they posted on here in response to the 26er) but I guess I didn't say that I spend 20K on leather jackets...well...I don't spend that much on jackets. I bought a River Road leather motorcycle jacket on sale once for like $140. It was really awesome. Man, I took that jacket all over. Had zipper vents and everything! It is in storage somewhere with the bikes. I miss them. I don't think they miss me, though. The great Furlough road trip. Souf Dakota (Wall Drug...for this picture) near the end of October 2013 with snow on the ground. No windshield on the bike, just cruising through the state (pittsburgh, PA to Wall, SD and back in 5 days). Good jacket...good times. My nuts got cold, but what are ya gonna do? Your legs form a V and it just directs the arctic wind right there and the chaps just don't cover it. There has to be a better way. Sometimes, I would put my clutch hand over them to block the wind and then I realized that all passing cars just see a brah riding along grabbing his junk. I think suffering is a big part of riding a bike (to an extent). If you want to be comfortable, get a car. Oh yeah...also the rest of the ensnemble, no-name chaps, ariat heritage roughstock boots, Gustin Orange ID Jawns, steel city cotton works shirt ("sunshine and pittsburgh football"...I love that shirt) So...I do buy leather jackets! One time I went cheap and bought from leatherup.com...christ! The sleeves were different sizes and way too flappy. I took it on a ride to Hell, Michigan and they had a lot of drag because I looked like a goddamn flying squirrel! I had to tie bandanas around my arms like the ultimate warrior to keep them from catching wind and slapping my chest and back. I kid you not. I probably looked like a real idiot...more than usual! Is ok. I think they have a smaller crew than other companies and do the work in-house. Gustin says they have few people, but imagine if they actually made the jeans instead of contracting it out. I expect some delay in response, but they really snapped to attention when old26 commented in regards to something he wanted for free. Paying customer who wears cheap leather and lion masks?...meh, we already got his money and he already hate us...so what is the rush? Put on your sunday's best when talking to them and they will treat you real proper like.

Dude, what in the fk are you talking about? Condensed version for people in a hurry Ciano Farmer no longer answers me. I am awaiting for two pairs of jeans from kickstarter and a label to return incorrect jeans. I wear leather jackets for riding motorcycles because if you mention leather jackets, they respond to you. (this has not been scientifically proven) picture is related (shows the aforementioned leather jacket) Story is related to picture Additional story to show that I buy multiple leather jackets. Here is a photo of me eating ice cream in Hell, MI armbands were removed for photo. Man, one time, I was riding in a car from Constanta, Romania to Cluj, Romania and I seen this guy riding a bicycle carrying a goose in one hand. He had it by its legs. THE GODDAMN GOOSE WAS ALIVE! Still flapping its wings all over the place. I don't know that brah maintained control of his bicycle. Now that guy is a real hero!
