About every three years I start skating again, eventually slam and hurt myself and then try again in another three years. I used to skate in the '80s and loved the whole punk/skate thing i skated through my teens/early 20s...even had a small shop sponsor. like you i'll start to pick it back up again every so often...will land a kickflip early on and feel great...then get cocky and the board will inevitably hit me square in the shin and it immediately goes back into storage for a year.

I can relate to that so much...
My problem is that between Arizona and California (most of life lived in those two places) there are so many skateparks now and I cannot stay away. After a teenage life spent scoping out spots to skate, warehouses, ramps... looking for abandoned homes with pools, running from and sometimes getting caught by usually unhappy cops, the idea of a free, no hassle skatepark , filled with pools and ledges just blows my mind.
I had to get my knee drained three times in a month a couple years ago after a hangup and slam that left me with a cracked pad cap (yeah that's me, old a*hole in the pool with kneepads). Walked like a gimp for a good three months. I can feel the itch coming back though....
I've surfed very casually on and off as well as snowboarded. It's just not the same.

yes! everywhere i'd go would be on the lookout for wax blackened curbs, loading docks, banked areas, gapped curbs, benches...etc. now there's an amazing park built under an overpass a few miles from where i live. my knees and wrists are gravel.

I Love music, I'm into vinyl albums and vintage stereo equipment. I like vintage watches, antique clocks, anything old really. Old architecture, and watching old cult type, B movies. Going to estate sales, flea markets and stuff like that too. and since meeting all of you guys about a year ago...better clothing/style options.

Dudes...I'm jealous of you guys. How do you guys find enough time in the day to do all these things? My main hobbies right now are my children, denim (clothing in general I guess), working out, and.....(yes, go ahead and start talking smack here fellas).....video games: ) My favorite games right now are Grand Theft Auto V, FIFA 15, and Red Dead redemption. I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything, its just something I do to unwind when I have some down time here and there. But seriously, between my job, my kids, working out 6 days a week, and keeping up on these here forums....I don't have any time for much else. Speaking only for myself here, I'm pretty weekend warrior with most of my hobbies obsessions. On a typical day, I'm similar to you; don't have the time or energy for much besides work, family, and a bit of reading or goofing around online before my head hits the pillow. I was a reasonably hardcore gamer for a while when I was younger. That stopped when my daughter was born, though.

I'm going to be a total enabler here, as I feel I'm amidst a bunch of addictive personalities, like myself, but:
Flashlights: candlepowerforums.com Wet Shaving (It will change your life): badgerandblade.com Knives: bladeforums.com Tea (Particularly Pu-Erh and Oolong - Pu-Erh ages wonderfully): teachat.com
Do yourself a favor and avoid all three sites at all costs. If your SO already has issues with all the Gustin related packages coming in, these sites will totally ruin your relationship (and bank account). -\Visdom

I go back and forth on it all the time. Some days I love it, some days I think it tastes like hot garbage. I still have a few different pu-erh teas left over from a trip to China a couple years ago. Word got out among our various hosts that I was a tea drinker, and literally every single one of them gave me some as a gift to take home. I also bought a couple teas at a shop in the Dazhalan. One is a jasmine, which is my favorite. The other is a black tea (the Chinese call it red tea, though) of some description, also very good, but I have no idea what it is. While I nodded vigorously as a means of communicating my complete lack of comprehension, the proprietor scrawled something on the tin that sounded very involved, probably loosely translated as, "Take your insipid questions about provenance and kindly f!@k right off out of my store, round-eye."

My main interests, these days, are:
Coffee - absolutely fanatical about it. Love everything to do with the equipment, the roasting, the process of brewing it. Don't mind drinking it, either.
Indian food - as above, love everything about shopping for the right/best ingredients, the cooking process and eating it. I've been on a few high-end, serious master classes and the knowledge you can pick up from the experts is mind-blowing in terms of how it then impacts on your own cooking.
Hi-Fi & Home Cinema - got into it when NICAM stereo was THE thing to have. My early love of horror films kind of led me to try and be able to watch them as best I could and that evolved into a love of home cinema and hi-fi. I've been very fortunate to have clients, who became friends, in the industry that meant I've picked up most of my equipment at cost price, thankfully.
Gym - like to go down there four or five times a week.
Music - tend to listen to music all day, whether that's working, gym, in the car, evenings... all the time, really. Also like going to see live shows when the chance arises. I used to promote shows and be in bands, so it's something that's changed over time but I've never got bored of.
The States - have been going over once or twice a year since about 18 years ago. I have a friend who moved over to work in SF and usually visit him, although have friends just outside New York I also visit and was with a girl who lives in Portland for a while, so spent a fair amount of time there. As time goes by, I'm getting much, much worse at dealing with the 'Returning Home Blues'. I've been to most countries in Europe and, other than maybe Italy (on a good day), there's no place I'd rather be than in the States.
Beer - obviously.

Beer - obviously. good stuff here. i have to temper my obsessive/tinkerer nature with coffee...i've been very close to cobbling together a home roaster. home cinema is fun (and expensive) to get sucked into. had a decent front projector home theater set up in dallas, not nearly enough space here in chicago. hit me up if you're in the chicago area. i'll take you out for some decent indian (certainly not as good as what's available in london). i'm pretty sure i'm on track to only eat indian, mediterranean, mexican cuisine at each meal.

I have a 13 year old who is in a band and a 10 year old girl who plays sports and dances. Me, I play tennis 4 times per week and work FT. I also dabble in guitar, but my 13-year old is catching up to me quickly.
Glad to hear all of your hobbies above.

That sounds amazing. We have a trip planned for Capri, but I don't imagine I'll be doing too much hiking and biking. Maybe, worth looking into there! Semi-related, I've got a buddy who relocated to New Zealand - he's been loving life there. The mountain biking is a totally new experience. I need to book a trip out there and rent a bike. yes...absolutely get to nz and do some biking/hiking if you get a chance. don't know if you noticed my old avatar, it was of a goat and cow...which was a photo taken while volunteering on a farm earlier in the year in nz. i went to christchurch...figured the best place to volunteer would be a place that had been devastated by quakes. it was a great experience and hiking the halswell quarry was really nice...saw a lot of mtn bikers on those trails. If you like Hiking you should really come over here we have some of the best walks in the world but then I'm biased. It coming into summer now and so I should really get out and do some more. I suffer greatly from having all this stuff right on my door step and never finding the time to go do it. I really want to go and do Tongariro great walk again. Would heritage nature site, have done it 2-3 times in my teens. Need to spend more time at the beach as well, no excuse since its 2 mins away and looks like this Hobbies wise; Jujitsu, not Brazilian but more traditional. Travel definitely, will be in San Fran for new years. Seemingly denim. Food; need to find more time to cook. oh yeah and beer, but mostly drinking would love to get into brewing. Craft brewing has really taken off here recently, like most places.

rpm, nice pic! Is that Lake Taupo or are you on the coast somewhere? One of my best friends grew up around there, someplace near Hatepe I think. NZ is on my bucket list for a big fishing trip, ideally with said Kiwi mate as host/guide if we can get the time off simultaneously. Hopefully sometime in the next three to five years or so.

Lots of 90 degree days and humid depending on the summer. We actually have the most shoreline of any state. Lots of lakes. Not many with sand like that picture though. I would have to move somewhere else to be an actual beach bum.

It is cool to have some reading musicians here. I can't but can appreciate it. Those ramen pics looks delicious. What kind of restaurant serves it? I can't think the packaged ramen noodles we associate with the word "ramen" have any nutritional value at all.

In America, there's a burger joint ion every corner, but in Japan it's ramen shops. I have driven as far as 2.5hrs away just to try a new shop. And, best thing is, it's amazingly cheap... Usually only $6-10 and sometimes that includes unlimited noodles.

is it wrong that I love Top Ramen? Spent days in Tokyo eating at different places, then found a little Ramen joint in the back street behind my Hotel and spent a week eating there. So cheap. So quick. So tasty.

Must confess up front not my pic, but same beach. Nah this is 10 mins out of central auckland. A short walk from my house. Auckland is basically the pinch point a third of the way down the north Island. So spoilt for beaches and coast lines. West coast is 40 min drive, east coast 5 min walk. Fishing galore, bay of islands up north has some great big game fishing. Otherwise pretty much everywhere else has fishing to some degree. I think theres is one or two degrees of separation to someone who owns a boat in Auckland.
