Pulled tight I get a 17.5" across for waist, 12" across for thighs, and 8" for opening. It's within spec, but it's going to absolutely kick my butt. Substantial AF..reminds me of the Beasts. The Beasts?? Seriously?? So they aren't soft at all then

Well what the heck? Did Gustin actually feel this fabric before they wrote the campaign description?

I'm breaking in my CF 23s and they are not as bad as I expected. I prepped myself for the worst and they aren't bad but I agree that "stiffness" is relative. But my G super heavies are by far the easiest pair right off the bat and I love them.

Well what the heck? Did Gustin actually feel this fabric before they wrote the campaign description? it says in the description that it is painful to wear at the start. Supple enough to wear doesn't necessarily equate to soft, just that it is wearable. Maybe they'll break in quickly. Who knows until they get a few weeks or so of wears in.

ickes compared to say, the CF Secret's which are actually rough like sandpaper, these ARE buttery smooth, but I don't think they are soft as I imagine IH's are. That said, after a day of wear I think they feel pretty great and that I nailed my size. For as much shit as I have heaped on them lately, thank you Gustin for doing whatever you had to do to get these right.

Supple enough to wear doesn't necessarily equate to soft, just that it is wearable. Maybe they'll break in quickly. Who knows until they get a few weeks or so of wears in. From the product description; "Gustin jeans made from sanforized raw selvedge denim from one of the finest mills in Japan. This is one of those rare denim opportunities that we can safely say will not come again. This is next level fabric at a ridiculous value. It starts with huge weight. This beast tips the scale at 21 ounces. You can see the burly yarns used to construct this fabric and you know this is no ordinary denim. Monster weight denim is, to put it mildly, painful to wear at the start. It's kind of a project that not many people have the time or willpower to take on. That's why we love this fabric - it's way more supple than you'd ever expect from a denim in this weight class. It's closer to our incredibly soft Super Heavy, so you can actually put these on and get started breaking them in right away."

They are saying that monster weight denim in general is painful to wear at the start. Not this fabric.
Oh well, whatever. The product description seems misleading but I'll drop it.

Tried mine on. These really are the best value Gustin has offered. And they actually got the sizing right!! Glad I went with slim and sized up. These are not soft though, at all.

It's like taking frozen stiff butter out of the freezer, and placing onto the hot griddle to create buttery soft butter. I would have backed two pairs if this was actually in the product description. I haven't received the jeans, but I'm hoping they work out. After 17 oz, I get nervous about the G-denim.

They look gorgeous. Mildly wish I backed them. Don't care they're not the same as IH 21 oz. (I'm no IH cheerleader, but NOTHING is IH 21 oz. IMHO, the best denim there is.) But these are a different animal, and who cares! They look rad, and thank goodness for G and everyone here that purchased them that they sewed up right. The starchy stiffness will probably lead to quicker, more contrasty fades anyways.

I'm sure that yours are in the G office with the rest of the unshipped ones, going through meticulous QC processes to make sure they are on spec and flaw free . . .

I'm hoping mine are shipped today. Odd that I'm hoping they come in small because I sized up

The 16oz BlackxCoals look tempting at $74. I have 3 BlackxBlacks aleady, but am swithering on this one.

I am seriously considering asking Manny to make me a work shirt. His stuff looks amazing. I know this is the wrong place to ask but...those with experience, Manny or wait for Ciano?

I have experiences with both on jeans and they are both excellent. Manny is definitely more expensive than Ciano but very little wait time. If you want to get something quick, it may make sense to pay more and use Manny. If not, I would go with Ciano. You will not go wrong either way.

No shipping for me yet on the 21s (I think they do the small sizes first, based on every other thing I've ordered) in 37 Straight.
Also, re: the black/coal, my pair from the most recent batch had less sulfur smell than any other pair of raw blacks I've had, so who knows?

Also, re: the black/coal, my pair from the most recent batch had less sulfur smell than any other pair of raw blacks I've had, so who knows? Well, I'm a 34straight and haven't got a shipping notice yet. The vast majority of black denim use sulfur in their dyeing process so they all have that smell. Some smell like they are on the verge of combustion while others are almost flagrant free.
