Definitely not brutal on the stiffness scale.. It's been a year since my last new raw pair, so I probably just forgot how they start so stiff. They seem like they would soften up pretty quick. I'm having a hard time letting them go to sell since the fabric is so great.
Now that I see them in the daytime, they are a nice dark blue. Last night I almost thought they were black. The weft is very distinct (in a good, not flashy way) with the beige tint. The veg tan patch is nice and thick.

These don't sound like IH flagship 21 oz. to me. FWIW.
EDIT: I do believe Gustin was hoping people would draw that conclusion, however.

Glad to hear they 21s are sewing up well and people seem to like them. I still don't have a shipping notification on mine yet, hopefully I don't have any issues (32 slim).

33slim. I think they are close to spec, I just overestimated my thighs, I guess. I've spent a lot of money on some amazing jeans, only to realize my cheap 501s that my wife customized are my best fitting jeans. I laughed that she made jeggings when I first put them on, but they stretched out to the perfect size. The fact that these aren't tight anywhere makes me wonder if they will just ballon and look worse. Or, since they are so heavy, would tight be hell? I don't know, just tired of waiting months for jeans only to be disappointed (not in the quality/construction which is great). So these sit in my closet while I wear my Levis (sad, I know) zims15, zim21, oky standards, blackxcoal, n&f suvin els. I guess I need to start buying denim in actual stores... do squats and grow dem thighs into those sweet denims. |

These don't sound like IH flagship 21 oz. to me. FWIW. EDIT: I do believe Gustin was hoping people would draw that conclusion, however. IH or not, 21 oz Zimbs at that price point is too hard to resist, IMO. |

so then the campaign description is not accurate. I believe in the description it says they are soft and comfortable from day one, doesn't it?

I don't think anyone would consider it stiff by any means. It is comparable to the super heavy 18's you are referring to IMO. |

Compaired to other Heavyweights, they might be like butter. They don't feel worse than any of my other denim, and at 21 oz., they should. |

Of course it also depends on the cut and if they're tight/loose, etc. I'll let ya'll know if they're even close to the 18's when they come - but even my 18's have been beat to hell so I'll have to try and remember how they were new. |

These comparisons are mostly for color. As compared to Black and as compared to a brighter, more traditional blue. The photos give the weft a slightly reddish shed, which it is not; it's an antiqued look in person. Pulled tight I get a 17.5" across for waist, 12" across for thighs, and 8" for opening. It's within spec, but it's going to absolutely kick my butt. Substantial AF..reminds me of the Beasts.
