You should try and take a close-up pic in daylight then you will see the diagonal lines. Its the same as mine and its a twill. The crosshatch is close but its not the same shirt.

Wow. Excellent service as always. Do you need to incur return shipping charges? Trying to decide if I care I did not receive what was advertised. My daughter got it for me for Xmas. May not have had her back a twill Black Friday special. Any explanation from them on why they shipped different than advertised? Since I live abroad I pay alot more for both shipping and customs and I think that plays a huge role in me never having to return anything. I do need to take photos and explain myself, but thats only fair. They said it was a mistake from their part due to new staff.....which sounds a little like an excue but at the same time - it was holiday and also they were fast to fix it so it might just be the case and they have had some more errors so they were prepared? Its all guesswork but yeah great service! I've decided I ultimately like the "cross hatch twill" (my term) and will keep it. I find it odd that they choose to explain it as a new staff issue. Seems a little non-transparent to claim a new staff member is to blame for either a mis-labeled campaign or mis-order of fabric or mis-shipment of an entire lot of shirts. They would have to know this happened. Wouldn't a better way for stephenpowell and Gustin to handle it is to proactively reach out and acknowledge the error rather than waiting to see who notices? Gustin provides phenomenal customer service response. Stuff like this results in some tarnish. If they provided the same level of proactive service it would be even better. As I said, I'm ultimately good with what I got. Just odd for them to not reach out and acknowledge the flub to see if customers cared and wanted it corrected. Heck, I would have just run it as a Black Friday shirt grab bag. Fixed all around that way!

It's definitely the cross hatch chambray. Not sure what you guys are complaining about and surprised they are giving anyone refunds.

Yes but i have the shirt also and i understand the resemblance but know the difference. The mystery shirt is also a daker more full blue. I would bet alot of money that the other pictured one up close will also show a twill like mine.

I would bet alot of money that the other pictured one up close will also show a twill like mine. Here are some close up pics of the full Black Friday Mystery Chambray shirt I posted earlier. There is definitely a diagonal rather than square pattern to the weave. If I'm understanding the definition correctly, this makes it a twill rather than chambray. Regardless, I really like the shirt's color and look. For the Black Friday price, it was definitely a good buy. I will keep and wear it and dub it my "Crosshatch Twill." What I don't understand, though, is how Gustin let this happen and is not reaching out if/when they discovered it did. It would seem to me a good number of their core customer group knows and cares about the difference between a chambray and twill. Similarly, I would think Gustin would know the difference. Isn't it a little bit like advertising denim but shipping canvas? It might be a damn good canvas but it's still not what was advertised and should, minimally, be disclosed rather than waiting for customers to inquire. Any comment from stephenpowell and the Gustin crew on this? NOTE: I am not dogging on Gustin at all. I really like them as a company - especially the customer service. I'm just trying to understand.

I've been wishing they would do a denim Oxford for a while. Looks like the Black Friday was it. Bummed I missed out. They should have released this as a normal drop.

My pair of the #206 Brushed Back Superlights arrived today. Totally in love with the fabric. It's buttah. Not in love with them being an inch under spec in the thighs. I look like I'm wearing bell-bottom yoga pants.

Haha, got mine today and it's definitely a twill. I love you Gustin, never change. If there's a creative new way to screw the pooch on QA/QC they will definitely find it. Possibly this fabric? www.weargustin.com/store/2809

I wonder if Roman's trying to sue Gustin for gimmick infringement on his original idea of the "call a twill fabric a chambray" (with that 9 oz "chambray/twill hybrid" that many of us got when they used to actually deliver clothing).

I wore my Black Friday twillbray yesterday and actually really like the shirt. It looked great with my gray silks and fills a niche for a slightly dressier darker chambray/twill shirt. My only thought is that it would look slightly better with tonal stitching.

I got the same "chambray" many others got. I also wonder if it's the Japan indigo twill. I mean it's definitely twill, but seems more charcoal than indigo. Maybe I don't know how dark indigo is. It's also possible it's not a previously released shirt. It could be the new Japan Charcoal Twillbray. So Gustin gets an unqualified F for communication/advertising/transparency. This was going to be my first G chambray, and second chambray period. I'm a sonewhat price sensitive shopper, so I went for this. And it's definitely not chambray. However, the shirt gets an A. I love the dark color, fit is what I expected, and boy is it soft. I really like it. But the communication...yeah...awful. Other companies don't need to communicate proactively because they send what I bought. You can see it's twill. And I pictured it next to a blue G OCBD. Seems dark for indigo, no?
