My hemps came with the wrong selvedge ID. I contacted.....going to wait and see what response I get. Love the fabric, but I'll manage to call these my skinny jeans :/. Same story here, tagged #124 with a narrow white ticker instead of bold and yellow. I wonder what denim they actually are? Feel in the 14oz ballpark, but not sold on them being hemp with a different ID...

You should be able to tell if they're hemp by doing that.

Sadly, no, on the slim option. But after hot wash and dry of the Black and navy (was wearing the grey), there was decent shrinkage circumferentially, as well as a small amount in length and arms. Cuffs are still big. I didn't measure before, so this is all subjective. They're pretty freaking comfortable. I want to shrink mine in width but thr length is perfect. Would you say the shrink was equal both ways?

Got the mystery chambray today from the Black Friday special offer. Nice darker blue with white weft showing through in vertical streaks/grains. Very unique chambray. Mid-weight. (I'd describe the blue shade as similar to a postal blue.) Not selvedge but very pleased - especially at the special price. Gustin mentioned they had several different fabrics they were sending for the Black Friday mystery chambray. I'm curious. What did others get?

Huh, I'm waiting for mine, but if that's true, I'm really hoping for non-blue.

It's really a light denim, with a twill weave, rather than a plain weave chambray. But I like it quite a bit, very soft and nice blue color.

That couldn't look any less like a twill weave. For what it's worth, the one pictured above looks to be this one, but I don't remember if there have been multiple crosshatches: www.weargustin.com/store/978

Two pics of mine here: First, a pic from a couple feet away, showing the nice streakyness and cross hatches that give it a chambray look. Second, a contrast pic from my rolled sleeve. It's definitely a light denim shirt, but I'm not complaining.

Absolutely as twill as twill gets. Cool fabric.

I don't think it's the same as the other one pictured, though, as the same "square" pattern of the warp appears on the weft of that other shirt, unlike yours. For what it's worth, a typical chambray does exhibit the same warp/weft difference of denim.

I got the same and im disapointed. Is there really sometyhing called twill/chambray? I thought it was either twill OR chambray.
I really looked forward to something that looks like what I have expected chambray too look like from G, and preferably in another color.
I would not have bought it if I knew I was getting twill.

There's such thing as a chambray backed twill (which is two fabrics fused together), but I would call that a crosshatch twill. It really does look like a chambray at a distance (from the shared pictures) unless you can see the weft.

Excuse my ignorance, but what defines a chambray vs light denim vs twill? I'm ultimately fine with a shirt I think looks good. It's actually better (and cheaper) than anything I've scored in a shirt grab bag. But for those where a true chambray matters, I'm just curious what that definition is.

Chambray is done in a plain weave where the warp and weft threads alternate over one another, unlike a twill weave. A twill weave has surface diagonal ridges or lines (look at most of your jeans). If you look to the backside of your jeans, it will be a different shade because the warp threads cross over more weft threads before being woven under the weft thread. A chambray in a plain weave will be more uniform in color because of the alternating threads, even though most chambrays also use different colored warp and weft threads.

Trying to decide if I care I did not receive what was advertised. My daughter got it for me for Xmas. May not have had her back a twill Black Friday special. Any explanation from them on why they shipped different than advertised?

I had asked them to not send me the red chambray as I had it already. This sort of looks like a slubby chambray. Anyone know what it is? I think I like it but the color may be hard to not look like canadian tuxedo with jeans. I'm keeping it and happy with it.

Any explanation from them on why they shipped different than advertised? Since I live abroad I pay alot more for both shipping and customs and I think that plays a huge role in me never having to return anything. I do need to take photos and explain myself, but thats only fair. They said it was a mistake from their part due to new staff.....which sounds a little like an excue but at the same time - it was holiday and also they were fast to fix it so it might just be the case and they have had some more errors so they were prepared? Its all guesswork but yeah great service!
