usctrollI'm 6'1" / 180 and in decent shape up top. I'm not what you would call musclebound, but no one is kicking sand in my face at the beach, either. I think if this thing would have come in at the 45" on the fit guide, there wouldn't be an issue--i remeasured again this am, and it's actually slightly over 21.75" across, or about 43.75" across the chest. The extra 1"+ would have made a huge difference in the shoulders. Would you mind measuring your G CC at the chest and post the results?

I just measured and with a very slight pull tight it's 44". Slack you might say 43.75".

Just got my IndigoXIndigo basket weave in. Fits surprisingly well. "Confusingly well" is probably the better way of phrasing it. My Medium shirts are fitted. My Medium Workshirts are loose, but good for overshirts. Pretty sure they are supposed to measure the same (at least in the chest...). Medium Trucker is a bit boxy - I can fit a bulky sherpa-lined shirt jack under it if I don't button the sleeves. Well, I can barely button the sleeves anyway. This chore coat... Fits like the shirts. Just big enough to maybe have a light sweater under it. Armholes are better placed than the shirts. It felt comfortable. It felt a lot like the waffle dobby in weight and texture. Really, it was like the dobby was given bigger buttons/holes and extra pockets. I agree, its not a coat - it's a jacket. Definitely a light jacket. And I don't see it being a chore coat (chore jacket?) either. Designed like one, but the fabric weave definitely is not going to last as long which is a pretty obvious statement I suppose. End rant.
I've happy with it. The color is an awesome dark navy and it's quite comfortable. I didn't expect it to be warm. Might be a good Early-Fall, Mid/Late-Spring dry weather jacket. I can see it being great in SF for a larger portion of the year, but just less ideal in the North East.

Any fit picture? I am not planning to buy one but would love to really see how that looks like. I can visualized it fits like a "proper" work shirt but in Chore coat style.

wore my brownxblack into work today (a bit of reprieve from the freezing temps) and had it layered over a TS 3-button hoodie, a lightweight flannel w/ undershirt. fit surprisingly well.
i'm really confused by the folks saying the chores fit like a longer shirt as there's more room under them for me than the same-sized G shirts.

Definitely more room under the size L chore than a size L slim work shirt. Not sure how it would stack up against a classic L shirt.

No, you're right. It fits perfectly over a regular shirt so obviously it has more room. What I should have said was that it "feels" more like a shirt than a jacket given how fitted it is and the material itself.

I'm hoping to purchase one of these, but I'm trying to collect these opinions and make a decision.
I usually wear a small. And to add to that, I actually prefer to jackets to fit slim. Should I order a size small- or size up?
And the length on these, if the sizing guide is correct, is freaking long. Am I wrong? I'm 5'7'', so I'm wondering if this jacket is going to make me look, well, midgety. Any advice here?

I wear a small, too, and have a 30 G waist, but they end up a tiny bit loose after a few months wear. Only the ones that sew up small (Beasts and NIxP's) stay comfortably snug, which is why I stuck to 30 LD (haven't received anything, yet, so no notes on fit). I have the high density coal chore coat and feel it wears pretty snug and close to the body, but can be worn over any G small shirts without too much of a fight. It's tight enough, though, to be a bit restrictive when it comes to things like bending over or raising arms and buttoning has become a slight problem, ever since hitting ickes, workout. For this reason, I wouldn't go XS.. S, for me, wears as well as the S shirts. As for length, I'm 5'10", and it comes down just a bit higher than the bottom of the fly. For you, it may extend below. It would be difficult for a tailor to shorten, because of the lower pockets. You may be better off with a trucker.. those come down just enough to cover the waistband for me.

Dude thanks, that was super helpful! Unfortunately, I think you are right about going with the trucker. Although I like the chore coat aesthetic better, the height will definitely be better for me with the trucker. Thanks!

The trucker is cut a bit differently, so starts out a bit boxier.. waxed canvas also needs some breaking in for it to drape nicely, too. Don't want to confuse you, but I think you'd like the chore coat over the trucker, despite the possibility it comes in a tad long. Anyway.. to answer your initial question.. go for Small

Yeah, I don't own any waxed canvas. Yet. So this would be my initial foray into the waxed canvas world!

The trucker will look like the trucker and the chore will look longer. I like my chore waaaay more than I thought I would and have been wearing it nearly daily. For one thing a longer jacket evokes a bit more blazer and fits in better with TX business casual (jeans/boots/button up) than a trucker. It could be because it's new and I'm still in the honeymoon with it, but I'm really liking it.

Really sorry to hear about your experience with your chore coat stinky Even though I've been very disappointed with Gustin to the point I think "I'm done" with the brand and "it's time to move on", when I look back at my G products the charcoal chore coat is one of my favorite. I went with the same size as my Gustin shirts and I love the fit. Imgur album here : imgur.com/a/WoSqD

The lady at Brooks Brothers was all about my army canvas chore when I went to buy Iron Rangers today. And after looking at $300-$600 jackets made in China it made me love my chore even more.

We have a prosumer clothes steamer at home, so I ended up doing a couple of rounds of steaming in the tight areas, then putting the jacket on and doing some stretching. It gave a little bit. It fits better, but not perfectly.
Like I said, I really like the look of the jacket, both the style and the fabric (and even the large collar). It's the high armholes that make it somewhat uncomfortable for me. If I sized up to fit the shoulders/chest, it would be way too fabricky from the chest down. Thicker fabric or a lining would make it less shirtlike, but I'm sure the fabric weight is limited to just this one and the IxI one.
Gustin does not have a track record of taking feedback from their consumers, but if they decided to start doing that, my suggestion would be to lower the armholes a bit to allow for layering clothing and less restricted movement.

Got another couple of compliments on my chore. One from a somewhat fashionable landscape architect and one from the videographer doing a shoot for our amateur boxing competition. It easily gets more compliments than the rest of my G shirts/jeans combined.

It is undoubtedly good looking (speaking for the Italy BxB), I just wish they'd tweak it a bit in the shoulders/armholes to make it more comfortable/functional as a coat.

Is the sizing of the chore coat similar to the sizing of the trucker- besides the length? Sure, I see the fit guide on Gustin, but...
Do the sizes run smaller because of the high arm holes in the trucker jacket too?

I fine the chore coat armholes to be a bit higher. You can actually layer it beneath the trucker, but it would look silly since it's so much longer.
The core coat used to fit comfortably for me, but the Arnold blueprint had made it uncomfortably tight, but still wearable.
