Two more Kickstarter campaigns on boots. They both look pretty promising.

The thing I am most unsure is the source of the leather being used for those two companies.

Has anyone backed either of the campaigns?

Those kendall and hydes look really nice but they're pretty expensive - in the wolverine 1000 mile or redwing price range. They better be good!

Yeah, and they seem to be quite more transparent about all the construction materials used in different shoe parts. But somehow, the way they've written up their kickstarter campaign looks like they are trying to sell a bit too hard or maybe, it's just me.

Yeah, plenty of risk there when good options already exist in that price range. I don't think the boot market has as much fluff as the high end denim market where the kickstarter brands could offer what amounts to 50% off.

Too expensive for not knowing how good they really are going to turn out. You have red wing and wolverine for a bit more sometimes I can't take the plunge with Ks.

Hmm at $299, they're more expensive than Red Wings and Wolverines because you can always get those two on sale. But they do like really nice.

If a prior Kickstarter campaign is anything to gauge from, the Kendall & Hyde bags are absolutely amazing. I picked up the three pocket brief, built like a tank, top quality, I expect will outlive me.

Stretch goal for the cap toe boot from Kendall Hyde has been reduced to 100k, need about 4k over the next 40 hours or so to make them happen. I went ahead and pledged even though it's counter-intuitive to my goals, but will have to cancel if they're not going to hit the cap toe, since I'm not interested in the brogue or plain toe anywhere near as much. So if any of you kids are thinking of getting in on them, maybe that will help influence your decision, too, and then we can get some of these boots. They did a comments contest, and the cap-toe won over the quarter brogue. I think the consensus here, though, is that for the price you can pick up Iron Rangers, or for a bit more take a step up from those, but I think these are going to be some good boots based on the other Kendall Hyde products, and the cross-section on these looks like Red Wings, with the added benefit of calf-skin lining.

I backed them too a couple of days ago. I'm getting the full brogue one though.

It looks OSB'ish except with even slimmer toe box. I would consider the cap toe if it offers natural leather.

Btw, based on the descriptions, if it is able to "deliver", it will be a higher quality and more fashionable boots than the IR or 1K boots.

That's what it looks like, I mean, I think it might have an extra layer of leather on the insole than the Iron Ranger, but it's fully lined (which the ranger is not) and has rubber on the sole. It's trending to 99200 now, so I'm hoping it can hit 100k, otherwise I'm likely to cancel. :/

i think i'd jump on a pair of the kendal & hyde if i didn't already have a pair of IRs...especially if they make the goal and offer a cap toe.

Good luck and it is such a shame that it doesn't have the color that I want or I will jump all over them. I really don't understand why they want to make some artificial burnish to mess with the look and good quality leather. Maybe it is gear toward being more dresser. Don't know.

My AE Dalton has the burnished toe and they look ok to wear with dress pants or business causal. Too dressy for my normal outfit.

Campaign broke 100k last night, so looks like the cap-toe will be a real thing.
