unnamed any chance your up to knitting another one? (Some Time before Dec) I didn't get one because I haven't come up with the colors. But I'm thinking Red (Burgandy) and a Gray (charcoal) combo would look good for me. Kind of like the blue cotton one you made But in Alpaca. PM if your up to it.

I have a beautiful 4C hat coming. Alpaca thread ordered. From what I have read alpaca is supposed to be some of the warmest material around. Has many of the same properties as merino wool, retains heat even when wet, fire resistant, not itchy etc. Will see if it beats my leather/rabbit bomber hat for being my warmest hat this winter. Will look something like this. Get your hat ordered so you can keep warm and look cool too.  |

I've got my order in! You know it was a bad winter last year when guys are buying wool hats in August. I went with a muted red and gray color scheme. Having a string PomPom put on it also  Something like this-  Not sure if it'll look right, if not I'll just cut it off. |

unnamed if it looks better with the chunky look of the hat. Maybe a braided string would work.? (Not that I have any idea how you would braid/knit it)

Sorry unnamed, I would order a hat from you (because they look awesome), but if I did, my GF would kill me with her knitting needles. On the plus side, showing her this thread is getting me a new merino cap made, so there is that.  |

Thanks whiskeyriver. Yeah, I live in a desert so I know what you mean. The baby alpaca hats have a pretty wide comfort range, but are really only wearable at about ≤ 60 degrees. On the other hand I haven't had my head get cold even the few times when it was well bellow freezing.  Well, most winters it stays at 55 or so for the high here in North Florida, so maybe I might go for it. |

I've had a Tassel on my hat for over 30 years. So I wanted to keep with this tradition. unnamed was gracious to make one. There's something kind of fun, traditional, nostalgic about a Tassel. Should be getting the hat tomorrow (you know for the 90+ degree day). But will put it to work this winter. Thanks Unnamed! |

unnamed, do you think you could do something in a watch cap style? Navy/Indigo in color? Something that will sit closer to my skull and not get pulled very far down?

Received unnamed Wicked Awesome Baby Alpaca Wool Hat today! It was 90degree and humid and only wore it for a few minutes. So this is only my first impressions/thoughts. I'll do another review after I've got some Wicked Winter in it. 1St the Tassel, It's not for everyone. And Unnamed and I weren't sure of it. But he gave it a go. For me it's a little to big/long. Easy fix. Unnamed made it easy to remove. He also sent some extra yarn. This is what I came up with. What's your thoughts?  It's a little more subdued. Also, this Alpaca is Soft! Nice stuff. Now I dont know if it's the yarn or the way Unnamed Knit it. But it's very comfortable. Stretches for a nice fit but not tight at all. Even when it's folded up. In time I may a get another one the way whiskeyriver is asking for, a watchmans hat of sorts. Hope I won't need a hat to much this year "but if I do, it'll be the most interesting hat in Ma". |

Wow that looks amazing. Your pictures are great. This will be put to good use in our Minnesota winters. This will probably become my main winter hat. I just have to make sure I don't lose it.
