Thanks for sharing, I love how much cleaner the tonal looks even though they share the exact same design. The contrast will look great in a different way with wear, but it would be a hard sell to keep both. Sell the contrast to devastitis (if it's the right size). Should of mentioned they are both sized Large. Gustin shirts fit a little tight in the chest on me in Large but the jackets fit much better. How tall are you, and chest/shoulder measurements please.

I'll measure the jacket tomorrow, I'm 5'11 and normally want my shirts to be around 45-46 inch chests.

If it doesn't fit like you want it to, you won't wear it or just won't like wearing it. Having said that, I like the contrast. I totally didn't expect that, but really like how it looks. Something about the traditional denim jacket just feels right. Yeah I like it more then I thought but I think the tonal will work slightly better. Having two is a waste, want to wear one way down.

Gustin Trucker, Tonal vs Contrast. The tonal is sewn up smaller but I think when I break it in the fit will be fine. Really like both though I'm thinking about selling the contrast, don't think I need two of the same denim. Perhaps you could post a fit pic of something to show him how it's done? Oh wait, you've never posted a fit pic of anything, ever..lol...jk man jk I actually like the tonal one the best which surprises me.

I just overreacted about a shirt I have and like quite a bit looking terrible in the campaign photos. They obviously need to use him for product photos (since he's in most of the recent product shots), and i think they'd be great shots with a minor posture adjustment. i should have been nicer in my post, I'll admit it, and should have limited it to the level of iron heart model criticism.

I don't have any pics but I just took delivery of my #194 American Standards (Cone Mills) today. My first impressions are positive. They fit me well and seem to be in spec but the 12oz denim feels lighter than i'm used to. I think 12.5oz+ is the sweet spot for me. I'm surprised how soft they feel. There's no starchiness to the fabric and feel nice to the touch. Another thing of note, the back rise on these jeans are ridiculously high. Guess it doesn't matter since I don't tuck my shirts.
Gonna give these a warm soak tonight and then send them off to be hemmed

Despite not feeling stiff, the jeans did in fact have a buttload of starch. My tub turned a yellowish color

Out of curiosity I did a quick hem measurement of my newly soaked American Standards and found that there was a .25" variance between left/right. The right cuff came in at 7.75" and the left came in at 7.50". I think the pair I bought off Grailed is one of the fabled jeans sewn by a blind seamstress. Not that it matters. I tried the jeans on post soak and did a double cuff and it's not even noticeable. I hope my Blue 17's won't have this issue

So over in the to soak or not to soak (that is the question) thread, I may have mentioned treating my Pima Fires poorly, with lots of machine washing and drying. I'm also abusing my Italian Midnights in much the same fashion, because, well, share the love. So here's how they're starting to fade: Once these guys fade in more, I think they're going to be absolutely awesome. They're already super comfortable.

variable - Ooh.. Looking forward to getting more wear on those midnight. I'd really like to wear the fire more but every time I get to them and see how fiery they really are I just have to continue through the choices. One of these days I'll have the workspace and be able to give them a good overdye to tame them.

I'm not sure if that's just picture transference, but they look more black than mine. Mine are dark blue (eh...midnight blue?). Super soft. I've soaked them before and haven't worn them to abuse them (more of my "dressy" pairs), but they are surprisingly living up to the stubborn Italian fading. I was surprised by that, especially how much ink they shed when I soaked them.

Someone should do a black overdye on the Pima Fires... I think it would be cool Been meaning to for ages. I think I'd be better off sending them out for a taper first, though, since this was before I realized that the slim fit me so much better than the straight. At that point I end up spending a ton on jeans that I don't quite like, and I'm concerned I would end up with super-fancy jeans I still don't wear. That oh-so-soft pima cotton keeps drawing me back, though.

I think it's made a difference. Doesn't look quite as bad now.

Throw in a blue towel or two in the washer and dryer. It'll help.

Promised I'd show pictures from the Fire Fade Attempt. Thanks for sharing. I think I'll work them into the "getting dirty" rotation and see if I can't beat them up a bit. maybe covering them in sawdust can do something for 'em.

These mothers are stubborn to give up the indigo, but it is softening up quite nicely.
