Yeah, I thought about picking it up for a beater watch. Right now my Citizen Titanium Eco Drive is my beater.

I'm not a "watch guy", but.... I've been looking for a nice looking bronze watch. I came across this brand while browsing through Instagram pics a few months back: www.maranez.com/They have about 7 models to choose from, ranging in price from $199-$399. Right now, they are away on an extended holiday until the 18th of Feb., and any watches ordered before then get free shipping, + a 20% discount..... Needless to say, I jumped on and got me a bronzo finally. I chose the Bronze Talay model with the black sandwich dial. Specs are as follows: Model: Maranez Talay brass Movement: Seiko NH35 automatic Case diameter: 45mm excluding the crown - lug to lug 57.50mm - height 13.70mm - weight on rubber strap 173g Case material: Brushed brass with 316L stainless steel caseback Bezel: Brushed brass Crown: Screw down brass crown 11mm Crystal: Sapphire , inner AR coating Dial: Black, blue, or green. Super Luminova light orange Water-resistance: 300m/1000ft Strap: 24mm brown leather and 24mm rubber strap. Buckle: Brushed brass Honestly, I don't know what any of that means in scope of the watch world as a whole, but I don't care. It looks nice, and I pulled the trigger.

You're just referring to bronze as a general coloring, right? Generally you wouldn't want a watch made of bronze, and the one you described is brass (and looks it).

Lol, yeah it's brass. I even KNEW that, and even copy and pasted IH in the details, but I still for some reason typed bronze....
Why wouldn't one want a bronze watch? Especially when there ARE a few watch companies who make them...

I was thinking bronze is more fragile than it actually is, and thinking it suffered from more corrosion than untreated steel, which is also incorrect. So by all means, get your Ancient Greece on.

They're like the raw denim of watches. Crock on stuff and don't look like new for long. I kinda like them.

Do you have large wrists or at least bigger than 7.5" cause that lug to lug is huge and its a hefty watch. Maranez is a cool microbrand and CNY is best time to get it. Movement is a decent workhorse and mine is relatively quiet and I don't notice the second hand since my watch doesnt have it. You can always hop onto WUS forums regarding watch purchases and info

I almost joined along for the great deal, but 45mm is too big for me and I have a few already Ventus watches (heads up the lume sucks) Helson Shark diver 42 brass Zelos Eagle--bronzo This butch is thick at over 16mm in height--domed crystal doesn't help. Really like the case and strap. This girl is brand new and will darken up with a nice patina--im going to let it go natural, but may shine it up and do a forced patina--we'll see.

It came down to the Helson or the Maranez, and free shipping +20% off pushed me right to the Maranez! How's your Helson? I can see myself buying another watch this year, especially a smaller one, since the general opinion is that the Talay is quite large.
Hope it's not gaudy like a Diesel watch..... Lmao!

I really dig the Helson, it is a great "tool watch", that still has some flair. The dial indices aren't my favorite but those fockers GLOW. I've beat it up for the past 8 months on the job--fast paced and active (banging on it all the time on) I like it so much I want to get a steel bezeled one with a diff. dial. (the 42 is very big but wearable, so I might go with the 40 for the steel)
