About a month ago, I was considering a Seiko snk for a reentry into the wonderful world of watches. Because of their smaller size, I have been hesitant. Today, I saw this on Massdrop. Maratac gtp-1. I'm interested in any opinions of this. I really love the look. But, is it worth the price tag ? www.massdrop.com/buy/maratac-gpt-1

The header for this forum says watches, but there's no discussion. What are you guys wearing? This Maratac Big Pilot from county comm has pushed a few others nearly out of the rotation. It routinely goes on sale for $209, which is nuts for a miyota movement with C3 superluminova and a sapphire crystal. If you don't like big watches they also have a midsize in 38mm. The watch comes on a cheesy two piece black nylon, but I wear it on a variety of one piece NATOs. countycomm.com/maratacpilotlarge2013.htmlWell, if I had only bothered to read through this thread from the beginning, I would've gotten the answer to my question, above. smh I backed the GPT-1 on Massdrop. While cruising the web, I found another that piqued my interest..... Would it seem redundant to own 2 large black faced automatics ?

Would it seem redundant to own 2 large black faced automatics ? I'm going to say, "No." I'm sure there are people that have a pepsi and a batman Submariner, so you'd be fine.

If you want a military looking watch at a reasonable price you'd be crazy to not look at the Maratac. It's a great watch and gets more wrist time than I thought it would.

Here is my daily watch. Seiko 5 Sport Navy in the slightly larger size with a Horween Natural Shell Cordovan two piece strap that I made.

I had the 45.5 XL model with the orange bezel. Very good watch ended up selling it to fund a speedmaster.

Not upset letting it go at all. Made a $300 profit. Can't complain.

Pulling a profit flipping a watch is pretty unusual

I haven't heard of this company, AVI-8, but with an extra 20% coupon to take this guy down to $113.15 shipped is very tempting. I have a soft spot for off white colored watches. Might be slightly redundant because I do have the Orient Bambino.

Not too similar. Arabic vs Roman, chrono vs date, etc. If you like it, might as well try it.

There's always a Bremont chrono if you're mad at your savings:

Pulled the trigger on an Omega PO 42mm with black rubber strap. I got it used from a place called JaxTime jewlers in CA. Pretty pleased with it. To me, it looks brand new despite being from 2010.

I'm about 5 minutes away from selling off my rolex and omegas. I think I'm done with watches.

I'm about 5 minutes away from selling off my rolex and omegas. I think I'm done with watches. You clearly just have the wrong watches. I haven't missed my Rolex for a moment. They're the Lexus ES350 of watches. Well made, but everyone has one and they're pretty boring. I like watches that I can identify with. I worked around the corner from the Sinn retail shop, so that's an easy one for me.

I mean, it is pretty boring, and a lot of people have one..but they're well made! Hmm wait minute..

That is the great part with a gmt just change the bezel and boom you have a coke Pepsi or black bezel.
I don't wear my vintage datejusts enough to justify. I never wear my speedmaster pro for fear of damaging it. My submariner has sat for 8 months.

I never wear my speedmaster pro for fear of damaging it. The watch went to the freaking moon! Just wear it. And Omega still has parts to repair them.
