It's not an Omaga or a Rolex but its what works best for me. Hamilton Khaki, Hand wind. Simple and interactive. I'm not a watch guy, really never wear one but I find myself looking at them regularly. The Hamilton and Weiss mechanicals are my favorites. Nice watch digdug!

I bought an Omega Ranchero a couple years back. Loved the design, but at 35mm I always felt it was a little small. I sold it and got a modern Omega Railmaster mid-size. It comes in at 37mm wich is perfect for my wrist. I love that the styling is close to the older models (simple), and that it has a sapphire crystal- the plexi ones always get beat up no matter how careful I am.

DigDug I've been really happy with the Horween NATOs from Crown and Buckle and they are fairly reasonable in terms of price.

Parents got me the Gustin strap for my birthday. I like my Orient Blue Mako on it. The leather is really soft and supple and overall construction seems pretty nice. I've got nothing to compare it to other than the cheap piece of crap that is the standard Orient bracelet.

I picked up this Tsovet watch about a month ago. Really loving it so far. Great quality for the price, Swiss made, cool design.

Anyone else notice Filson is coming out with a range of watches? They're still in pre-order. Assembled by Shinola, some of them with Horween straps. It looks like they mostly fall in the $600-$1000 range.
I like the look of them, they actually remind me of Hamilton, like Diggy's up above here.

Shinola's look nice but the quartz movement just doesn't fit their pricing for me. Hammy uses mechanical movements in most of their nicer watches.

I sorta set $500 as my max on those, and there are a lot of watches that are worth that price range, but when you start looking at the likes of B&R, I roflcopter on that...

I'd really like to pick up an Omega 42 mm PO one day. It's just hard to justify that when you have 2 kids who will hopefully go to college though. I did pick up a replica of that watch from one of "trusted dealer" replica sites. The thing is pretty nice I must say. I'm not typically into fake or replica goods, but the replica watches are interesting to me. Don't judge me... LOL

It's not because you care about heritage, craftsmanship, and quality (generally things you look for in a timepiece) it's for the name brand as a status symbol. Kinda erks me. Had some fake Jordan's back in my teens thought I was the coolest until they fell apart and real sneaker guys poked fun.

What I expected, a lot of people dogging, some liking and a lot of speculation. Filson and Shinola, being owned by the same parent company made this an obvious collaboration. Shinola (no I don't own one) appeals to the a certain crowd. Ones that want an American product with a lifetime warranty. I think it's great and one reason I buy Filson. I doubt their consumers buy based on the value compared to foreign imports. My choice for an American watch would be Weiss. I just prefer the look. I hope they sell a shite load. The company vision is being echoed by Lawless and more everyday but unlike them Shinola is being run by a company with a successful track record in the industry. I bought this watch without really thinking of that side of things a few years back. The good thing is that wearing it has shown me that the Omega fits the bill of what I am looking for from a style standpoint. I do also have many other watches, including a few Seiko automatics that I like. I have actually worn the replica watch hard hoping to "kill it", but it just won't die! :-) It's funny how things work like that sometimes.

To me it's completely pointless to burn any good amount of money on a watch with a quartz movement. The movement is the heart and soul of a watch. A lot of time and effort is spent in making it and it's a symbol of craftsmanship. It's mesmerizing to watch weighted wheel oscillate back and forth, the ticking caused by escapement's release of the wheels and how the mechanical energy of the spring gets converted to the final motion of the hands. I'll pass on the quartz soullessness.

I agree with Marauder, but I'm still buying an Apple watch, but mainly just for the biometric stuff, vibrating alarm and casual wear (plus it's slightly less hideous than my Garmin). My mechanical watches will always be my go to for work and travel.

Unfortunately it'll probably be Apple in 2017 with the New Apple Watch (even though it should be called Apple Watch 3 -- better than Magic Watch). I say unfortunately cause that means we don't see it for another 2.5 years.
