I have a cheap Seiko watch and a G-shock that I use as my daily knock around watch. I've purposely avoided getting into watches because if there's one thing I don't need it's more things to spend money on. When I win the lottery I'll splurge, until then I'll bask in the glory of my cheap plastic watch ?

Looks great stinky. Those seiko 5's are good watches. I've thought about picking one up and using a similar strap.

I ebayed a bunch of cheapo NATO straps and ripped them apart for the hardware (which is hard to find on its own). I plan to make them for my other watches too. I think these Seiko 5s are an amazing value for what you get. Even at the normal amazon price, you can get a Seiko 5 military watch for cheaper than a G Horween NATO strap.

Did you pick up the eBay straps to cannibalize for hardware? Yes. They were $5.99 each including shipping. I found this guy to be the best source, because they are cheap AND he ships from the US: www.ebay.com/usr/brennyn . The hardware seems solid, but the straps are glued/heat pressed. I got a couple with matte black powder coating, but he's out of stock right now on those.

Seiko 5's are a great bargain. We use them in numbers for A retro look, but with reliability and good looks. The Horween NATO at Gustin aren't a bargain - when you add in the wait, I went elsewhere. Not that they're bad, but not a deal and not when you gotta wait.

Yeah, I was surprised at the price they came out at considering C&B had the same natty cxl strap for a few $ less a couple of weeks prior to the drop.

Even if it were $50 for 2 feet, that piece would likely make at least 12 straps.

BTW, i think my initial comment was vague . . . what I meant to say is that you can get A WHOLE SEIKO 5 AUTOMATIC EXHIBITION-BACK WATCH for less than the price of a Gustin NATO strap.

10-4. I paid the same price for my Horween NATO, just saying Gustin is not the way to go in this case.

Yeah, I have a Seiko 5 that looks very similar to a Rolex Explorer I (the previous smaller version). It is a great watch.

I think I'm slowly evolving into Captain Kickstarter. I backed the Leonard & Church watch via KS - I opted for #19 - the silver chronograph. It comes standard with a black leather strap (pictured), I'm probably going to pick up a few other options to accompany it. Great watch thus far. Leonard & Church silver chronograph

I'm on the fence. I looked at some other brands today and saw estimated shipping dates into summer of 2015. Dunno, I can wait a minute, but half a year? I've done 14 months on a jacket and 10 months on a jacket (and a few shorter waits) but I'm in need of a good mix of instant vs long-term gear.
I ordered a new pair of Chippewa USA Made Engineers for my son yesterday - got them today! Amazon is effin' amazing. My wife is working on a film - Amazon has shipped her stuff same freakin' day! It has changed her work life.
I can wait on jeans now with a full closet. And same for jackets, but it's the shirts I'm jonesing for - as well as more footwear, which is stupid as I looked and saw new pairs I haven't worn yet.

Ho much you want brah? Im ready to order!

I'm considering buying the Seiko 5 SNK809 - it can be had on Amazon for $56. But I want to swap out the nylon strap for a nicer black leather strap with white contrast stitching

Just took delivery of my Seiko 5 SNK809. Swapped the nylon strap out with a Di Modell Jumbo. The Di Modell strap kinda sucks but it's a slight improvement looks-wise over the nylon strap.

What do y'all think of the good ol' fashion Timex Camper? For $30 I might splurge. Timex Camper Link

interesting. it appears Amazon has raised the price of the SNK8XX series Seiko 5's. I paid $55.99 for my SNK809 2 weeks ago and now it's at $59.99.

I haven't worn a watch in 25 years. But, I would like to start , again. From what I've read here, if I'm looking for an entry level, every day wear type, the Seiko SNK80X would be good start ? I'm liking the 803 (beige).
