My best fades so far are on the inside seams. I suppose from walking. Can't wait for the white to pop on the whiskers.

I'm jealous, those look sick. Digging the boots too. Did you all size up one on the beasts? I'm hoping they bring back another run someday soon.

I wish I went 36 straight. 36 slim is a bit tight since they sewed up to 35slim.

Honestly I am looking forward to washing mine. I am planning an ocean wash on a trip to Florida in March. What are the purported benefits of an ocean wash? I would have thought they'd smell unspeakably disgusting afterwards if you did that.

Agreed. "Look at me fake-fade my jeans!". Jesus, just buy the pre-faded crap they sell at all those other stores. What's the point?? Those 'sweet fadez' aren't personal, they aren't earned in any way. They're about as poseur-ish as it gets.
Earn your grey hairs, earn your scars, earn your wrinkles, and earn your !@$#% fades.

Easy, guys, easy.. they're his beasts and I'd be interested to see how they turn out. I bet it'll be accompanied by a nice story about the people who witnessed it or went with him.
If you're trying to simulate normal wear with a beach wash, that's one thing, but if something unique comes of it, it might be worth checking out.

Yeah I think that the ocean wash thing is more about the experience of doing it, it's a story of some crazy experience of bonding with your things. Hell, we're a bunch of guys with more pairs of jeans than most guys have pairs of pants, might as well do something different with some of them, eh?

If univibe88 is willing to divulge where in Florida he intends to perform this zany ritual, I would be genuinely delighted to meet there with my camera and document him frolicking in the sand and sea in ungodly heavy wet denim that will smell like a pelican's asshole in a matter of days. To each his own. However, there are a couple things I cannot guarantee: 1. That any of the photos will be in focus because it's difficult to hold a camera steady while laughing oneself inside out, and 2. That any of a number of well-meaning passers by will not Baker Act the poor guy.

Wow...tough crowd tonight. It must be all the snow. Oh wait, it's not snowing in Florida. LOL. So here's the deal, first of all I agree that it's probably one of the dumbest ideas in the world. I really do. So why am I going to do it? Well, for starters honestly 26 oz denim is pretty silly in its own right. So why not do something silly with it? The whole notion amuses me. I don't expect anyone to agree that it's a good idea. If you continue to have the opinion that it's a silly idea that you wouldn't do, then have it. Personally, there is something a "bad idea" that always becomes a good idea in my mind. Hold that thought. Canucklehead yeah... well... ummmm.. who are you? exophobe wisdom you guys hit it my friends. While I first heard of such nonsense from that rawrdenim article, I'm not doing it purely in the pursuit of sick fadez. As mentioned, the ridiculousness of the notion amuses me. On March 12 I am leaving Boston at 5am on my motorycle. I will get to Jacksonville FL at about 11pm that night. Yes you read that right, I am riding 1200 straight miles in one day on a motorcycle. I have done similar rides many times; it's really no big deal for me. But already you can see my penchant for the ridiculous. Granted I am not riding to Jax just to go swimming in jeans. I have other reasons to be in Jax. On the morning of March 13 I plan to head to the beach at dawn, take a swim and lounge in the rising sun. I doubt anyone will be around. I grew up on the water. The ocean is very special to me. One of my cherished memories is of my mother and I driving from New Orleans to New Smyrna Beach Florida through the night to visit family. We arrived at 6am and before we went to my Aunt's house she wanted to drive to the ocean and we watched the sun rise. My father was a career Coast Guard man and he was buried at sea. I just think it will be serene morning. Mattbert so I just told you, Jacksonville. You're welcome to head up and join me. I'd love to meet you and have a coffee. Maybe your Zimbs could use an ocean wash! That being said, I'll take a dip in the hotel pool to wash the ocean off. And if they still smell, I'll wash the damn things. tl;dr I'm from south louisiana. I'm not too bright and make bad decisions.

Man after a 12hr ride your gonna smell anyways might as well jump in the water.
Soaking in the ocean is don't see anything bad with at all. Rubbing sand to increase fades is another beast all together.

Hi! Wow, I was not expecting to wake up to such an existential question on a denim forum... This will require some thought... Is a man defined by the sum of his actions? Do the clothes make the man? I think therefore I am. This I know for sure... I'll have to go through my notes from that university philosophy course I took a while back. I'll get back to you!

I think in this context the clothes do make the man. Or maybe the wash/wear ratio of your clothes :-)

Clothes make the man because you can't be naked in public.

Working on the fadez! lol I probably should have put on some snow pants to go shovel. But the beasts worked almost as well. I hope it's warmer where ever you brahs are.

The best way to fade jeans is skiing. OF course by skiing I mean a lot of falling and sliding too so snow-boarding would qualify as well.

How about just sliding and rolling down the hill without skiis or snowboard?

In Colorado. and then 50 on Wednesday when it's also supposed to snow. This weather is freaking me out.

How about just sliding and rolling down the hill without skiis or snowboard? That will earn you the same funny looks as swimming in your jeans at the beach haha
