Backed the cone blacks, they look like a great deal for mid weight black with contrast stitching.

That city coat is horrible. Especially in wool. Peak lapels look horrible especially with four front pockets. The fourth pocket really kills me. I like the canvas one and it's close but again. Close but no cigar. Just like the CPO.

I was really hoping to like the city coat, but I think it's just too short, so like many have said, it looks like it doesn't fit. It seems like the way they're designing lately, they're adding more and more stuff to differentiate it, but losing track of what makes them special - beautiful fabrics in basic designs. Whoever told me that three button is a bad idea, he was clearly correct. The extra busy design of the lapels is made more distracting by the intrusion of all the patch pockets. Drop at least one chest pocket, simplify the lapel, and make those chore coat pockets into traditional slash or flap type products, and I think this forum is filled with people excited for the new Gustin City Coat.
But again, plenty of people are buying, so who am I to judge.
The high density coal chore is going to fund soon, I need to decide if I want to cancel my backing of it.

To me it seems to short and to slim, even slimmer or more fitted than the chore coat, for this mode i would have to size up to an L...

I love the short lenght!! But im a short torso guy. Unf, it is too expensive. We have 50% off many times a year on suitstores so can pick up a tiger of sweden for not much more then that. W. Custom sleeves hemming included.
The wool will be about $300 in total with the 60 shipping and the vat comming.

I was actually looking at it again, while pondering whether or not I should continue to help fund the high density coal, and I think it's actually the right length, the model just needs to tuck his damn shirt in. It actually appears to hit right in the lower 2/3rds of the fly, which is the right place, it just doesn't look right with the shirt covering the distance to the waist. Still hate the collar, but I think the coat is actually the right length after further examination.

Man those peak lapels kill me. I've never liked peaked lapels at all. For anything. My tux is a shawl and all my suits are notch.

It makes me sad to think what a nice CPO they could have made with that 24oz Pendleton wool, provided they did a more tradional design that suited me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that absolutely loathes the city coat. So many things gone wrong with it. Peak lapels with 4 patch pockets, 3 buttons, and like 3 inches too short? I think the fabrics are the only thing they got right honestly. I hate to say it, but seriously, yuck. I'd rather just hit up ebay and buy a used pendleton blazer or something. Imagine how many blazers they would have sold through if they had just designed a normal blazer rather than that crap.

The slate is back. I would have preferred the contrast stitching instead of tonal.

I'd love to see the fabric for those heavy chinos in a workshirt, but I'm thinking about the heavy caramel even though I have the Japan Caramel on the way.

Anybody miss the good old days when you could go the G website and get jeans made from interesting denim? I'm not trying to be negative at all, but I used to look forward to what denim would drop on Tue/Thurs . . . now it's a few pairs of relatively standard jeans and a bunch of other stuff. Scarves, bags, hats, notebook covers . . . when are the pillow shams, bed skirts and duvet covers coming?

Japan 1-7, cheese-dyed, cone Pima, selvedge chino, grey x black, Japan silk have all been over the past few weeks, maybe you're just less interested in them? Those are all things you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

stinky and @david - I just want the man purse! Jeesh. What's a guy to do without a man purse! I would say interesting at a lower price. All the different offerings are over $150 now including the silks.

Those are all things you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. There are currently 48 products in the store--2 of which are indigo denim, 1 of which I have (Pima Fire). I guess my point is, there's really not many blue jeans available lately. Not saying the other stuff is bad, I just used to be able to go to the store page and drool over all the available indigo denim of different weights and textures, and they've morphed into a crowd funded Banana Republic lately.

yeah, Stinky.
Everything has been either not worth the money, or very normal looking. Nothing cool, with value.

From the Cone Mills Chambray blurb: "First, it's the heaviest chambray we've ever used in our shirts at 6.25 ounces."Meanwhile... "The shade is a deep steel grey and the weight is a solid 7.5oz."
Thus spake Gustin about the Grey Slub Chambray that is also presently in the store.

All the different offerings are over $150 now including the silks. It is all a matter of perspective. For example, some of us prefer Milt Sparks and Del Fatti while others settle for Galco and Desantis. Can you imagine cancelling a Del Fatti or Milt Sparks order because it is one month late? ?

You just made me google a bunch of shit I don't care about, and moreover, the argument had nothing to do with timing, but rather offerings. Thanks for letting us know you like guns, though, without actually coming out and telling us you like guns. This will be my first and only interaction with you.

Gee, I am waiting for the Zimbabwe WS, Zimbabwe 18, Loomstate blue (2nd pair) Loomstate black, Japan One Seven, plus 2 others. Those seemed interesting to me. I guess it is just a matter of perspective and appreciation. I will confess I have not bought any of the "other stuff," but I am looking forward to an interesting duvet cover with matching pillow shams!!!!
