I have two pair and my experience has been they're Gustins finest crafted goods. Sorry to hear others have a different experience.
Regarding size, in jeans I wear their 32 straight and 33 slim. The 34 slim chinos fit perfect

Ordered my Japan caramel chinos on July 7. Got the email today saying that I was one of the "unlucky" ones whose chinos didn't pass quality standards. Incredibly frustrating to wait over 4mos for nothing.

Incredibly frustrating to wait over 4mos for nothing. That sucks. I waited over 4 mos, but got mine on the 14th. Perfect pair. Seem odd that a whole week later, you get an e-mail saying they didn't make the cut. That is the kind of stuff they have to fix, as it is enough to sour someone from ever trying them again.

There should be a new run shipping around mid-December, so maybe keep your eye on BST. What size did you have on order?

I know I'd rather have the email than a faulty pair, it's just the wait has been so long for these and I was using this pair as a test for sizing before ordering more. That's what makes it frustrating.

That's what makes it frustrating. Yeah I hear you, the Chinos seem to be taking epic amounts of time for the shop to put together. They are nice, though I don't know if they're four months nice. Anyway, the ones I have coming are 34 straight, I'd probably sell them to you but you'd be swimming -- plus, until they're in hand they could QC mine, I couldn't put you through that kind of anguish.

My light khaki #1 arrived in about 4 weeks. Possibly a return but I don't think so because Cody had been searching for a 34 Slim return already for me when I backed the campaign. Fwiw my two pair are probably the first quality clothes I own with the exception of two Hickey Freeman suits.

how do Gustin's duck canvas chinos compare to NF's selvedge duck canvas chinos? The NF are lighter weight and aren't quite as textured but are selvage if that matters to you on a pair of canvas pants. Gustin have better details like lining but that can make them hotter to wear on a warm day. I like both Gustin and NF canvas but they are quite different pants.

Wore my Japan Olive chinos to thanksgiving dinner tonight. I guess my wife hadn't seen them before because she said "wow. Those look great. When did you get them?"

I washed and dried my Japan Caramel chinos and they shrank a little (which was fine on the inseam, but not so good in the seat and thighs). I got the same size as I normally get in jeans - 32 straight. I thought I might have to part with them. However, I wore them around the house and found that these do stretch just a little with wear.

Interesting. I had no noticeable shrink with Japan olive and light khaki.

I was going to wear mine also, but it was 20 degrees out, so I was in Beast mode. When your wife asked about them, it was time for the turnaround and say "these old things", they have been in the closet for a long time.

So, I'm looking at the heavy slate Chinos, outside chance I might back them. Anyone notice the change in the rear pocket design though? On my brown ducks, there is a loop that goes around the button to "secure" the rear pocket. On the heavy slate this loop appears to be sewn into place on the inside of the pocket making it non functional? Am I crazy or missing something here?No coffee yet so maybe I'm just missing something. Brown Ducks www.weargustin.com/store/1268Heavy Twill Slate www.weargustin.com/store/1299Sent a Q to Gustin...we'll see whats up.

Steve, it looks to me like it is the same design, but instead of them fastened over the button, they are not fastened, and just tucked inside. FYI, I'm drinking coffee as I write this.

I'll reiterate the Chinos I've received are the best Gustin I own and arguably some of the best clothes I own. Up there with Red Wing boots and Hickey Freeman suits. Both companies that control their manufacturing.
That said I have some Rag n Bone cords manufactured in L.A. probably in some union shop that contracts for many companies and they're also great and fit perfect.

I agree that the chinos I have from Gustin fit exactly the same, and very good quality, sans one pair had a missed stitch in the leg seam, which was easily rectified by my wife. I wish they would offer another fit with just a bit more foom in the thigh, so I am on hold for anymore. I consider them a little more refined, rather than knock around comfort fitting chinos.

I used the last of my store credit to order the Heavy Caramel Chino. We will see how they turn out. I just fear they won't arrive till around March.

Ending up not backing the duck canvas chinos. I am backing the herringbone chinos as of now. I want a casual chino that looks good with workwear tops, chambray, denim shirts, iron heart flannels and wabash shirts. I think it fits the bill. I am pretty happy hopefully they turn out well.

I'll be really curious to see how those herringbone chinos turn out. I am just leery about the pattern and texture because I don't like loud Chinos. But, I know the color is amazing because Japan Caramel looks great in person. They haven't funded yet, right?

I think it looks nice.
