How are the buttons Griffin?

Buttons feel strong and does not pop unintentionally. But the fabric is soft. They came loose alot easier on the oiled shirt since it was stiff. These do feel stronger but i think they are the same and its all about the fabric. For instance the breast button is not easy to close while wearing and only pressing into with one hand. Maybe time will tell.

i'm expecting a shirt in both of these fabrics as well from order 222...even down to the navy thread on the wool shirt. (light grey thread on the chambray). they both look pretty well made. i only wish my excitement level was higher...it's waned substantially.

I hear you brother, like BB King said "the thrill is gone" I mailed them a few days ago about where my 5 month old order is, and Kahla responded quickly to inform me that the denim had been damaged, and they tried to contact me, which was total BS. She said if I could change it to something they have in store, she will get it out to me in 2 weeks. Boy, how quick they learn what to say, LOL I responded by changing the denim, and requested them to acknowledge this by messaging me back, or I'll take it as it didn't happen. Well, I haven't heard back. Honestly, I think I might have an outside chance of getting the thing, before I would see a credit on my charge card at this point, otherwise, I'd just as soon have my money back. I can have Ciano make me one out of denim with much less hassle.

Other than trying them on, I have never even worn the 18.5 oz. Kuroki Mills I got back in december. I have been too busy working on some Gustin 26oz beasts. But this evening I decided to toss them on. Damn, they fit really, really nicely. Maybe I should wear them to work tomorrow.

As I mentioned, I thought mine came in a little off in terms of size, but I do wear them once in a while. The feel is nice. The problem is that I just have too many pairs of jeans now and I can't give them any significant wear time.

The 18.5oz is a great fabric. Thick but wears lighter due to low startch.

These guys are a disgrace. After being quoted 8 weeks and waiting more than 12 weeks without any updates etc, I cancelled my order. They said no problems, will refund. That was 18/03. I sent an email a few days later asking for confirmation. Nothing, sent another email, got a reply saying that because the transaction is more than 120 days old they had to post paperwork to the merchant, bank whatever. It hasn't been 120 days anyway. So, first they say it will be Friday. Then the next wed they tell me the 120 day story. So, it's pretty obvious that they are outright lying now. I've been nothing but courteous and polite with Lawless, and very patient. If Langlitz, bakers and Amazon to name a few can process refunds on the spot regardless of the amount of time passed why am I being lied to? I don't get it at all. They are stalling and buying time instead of doing the right thing. If they had of sent production updates or been honest and upfront throughout the process I could accept it. They haven't been honest, they haven't delivered on any of the deal with actually getting product out, or at least giving me a realistic time frame, and now they are playing games with the refund. Very disappointing, very frustrating, and I'm becoming quite bitter. I will never again deal with this company, nor would I recommend them to anyone. Disgraceful.

I've always wondered, for tapered cuts do they adjust the pattern for shorter inseams or do they just snip it short then hem? I have short legs and get my pants tailored so I usually lose out on a little bit of taper

Ciano does it even Lawless does. Other smaller brands offer it as well. Railcar, Roy, red cotton IIRC. I have tried on some pants that didn't fit right because they were made for someone with different legs. If you have short legs, let's say your thigh will take up a smaller amount of space length wise. So the knee placement might end up on your calve. Same with long legs. Your thight might end up in the knee portion of the taper. My Ciano ducks were set up so my thight was heading into the knee taper which was a little tight around the bottom of my thigh. I would say two reason why Gustin and say Taylor Stitch do not offer custom inseams. Money/time and logistics.

I was under the impression that Roy only sells his jeans through SelfEdge but I could be mistaken.

I'm not aware that Roy does this. I was under the impression that Roy only sells his jeans through SelfEdge but I could be mistaken. I'm getting to the point where I think the best recommendation, if you want a tailored fit, is to buy a couple sizes too big, and then get them altered by someone that specializes in denim. There are charts and calculations that cover proportions for making garments that will generally fit the population, and most designers work off of these when designing for "off the rack" -- with selvedge manufacturers typically only offering 1-2 inseam lengths, this is obviously going to skew the fit if you're in need of a shorter or longer inseam than whichever manufacturer you're looking at. Custom clothing is really the only way you'll ever get a perfect fit, everything else is going to require compromise in some way. This is the struggle that wils always had, he was searching for a perfect fit off the rack. I think the only way you're going to find that is if you happen to be exactly the same size and shape of the person that designed the garment, and I don't need to make up statistics to illustrate how unlikely that is. A guy that's 6' tall can range easily from 160 to 250 pounds, and two guys weighing 200 pounds can have two very different physiques.

Custom clothing is really the only way you'll ever get a perfect fit, everything else is going to require compromise in some way. This is true... although more the case for certain garments than others. Suits and shirts, yes, absolutely, but with jeans and most jackets it should be possible for most relatively non-abnormal shaped people to be able to find a fit that works for them. Maybe the best way of going about it would be to initially buy a pair of very basic, standard straight leg jeans in a size above what feels 'right' and then work with a tailor to size and pin them to your exact requirements. Take a note of those measurements and then wade through all the sizing charts online until you find a brand/cut that matches your personal spec. I try and avoid having to have any adjustments made to my jeans if I possibly can. Hemming is generally OK (as long as you're only talking an inch or two) but everything else you have tailored will tend to then have a knock-on effect and put something else out of whack that wasn't before.

If it were so simple, wouldn't every company do it? honestly it would be simple. the guys at bow do it. $10 and get a custom hem. left field does it as well. just have a hemmer on staff and charge for the extra service. i know i'd be inclined to buy more as their inseam runs way long for me and i'm not going to spend $30-40 to send them out for chainstitching.
