Snagged an example off the above link to help illustrate. I def like the look of waxed leathers and esp how they evolve. Was close to snagging these Trickers loggers in waxy cuba : new, then 8 months of age...

Ughh.
The first pair looked like someone just undid a hydraulic coupling and got oil all over them.
I'm def on the outsider in this forum as I'm not an evolution guy. Especially with shoes, I like them looking newish.

They are on the extreme end of the evo spectrum and ultimately I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger. Think my Acorn Stow Tricker's just look so new and polished that they come across as too aristocratic/stuck up. I've been mucking em up and they're slowly gaining character and loosing the noob poser look, haha.

As to the Trickers, wear will solve that, but you really just have to go through the "look, dude has a new pair of shoes" thing for awhile. It's why all my new clothes I now rinse/soak at least once before wearing to get that sheen off it.

northcoast The Tricker's have def softened up their brand spanking appearance and is much appreciated--still clean the mud off and brush them after fouling em up--just can't help myself, haha! Those 'oil slick' looking Cuba waxed boots are after 8 months of wear, with the same boots pictures brand new underneath, but some leather comes looking 'battered' just from the tanning process like jdubs Truman's.

maybe it's the lighting in those pictures they appear to be more dried out than waxy.

So... I bought a house. I guess that counts as a 2018 purchase. It probably also means i'll be scaling back on this hobby at least until we get settled in.

No idea what the situation is but spend the $300 for an energy audit. The sooner you identify and fix weatherization issues, the more money you will save over the period you own the house, and you can add it to the listing as a feature when you sell.

Saw these beauts in person and was very impressed with the 16oz Collect mills fabric, the heavy duty brass hardware, the fit and the details--hidden 6th pocket, 7 different threads used, and that Seattle inspired patch, man! These felt way heavier than their stated weight and super comfy in the top block with nice taper to the hem. I resisted, but am smitten. Shoot em down, Bentin! Let's see what you got Pics via: divisionriadinc.com

Saw those on your IG. I've seen a few Benzak's that look good. That patch is greatness too. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the tonal pocket top, but that's just my hatred of all things tonal.
Lots of good fades from Benzak and Collect out there. If I had to complain, I'd say the weft might be a little dark, leading to less stark contrast, but that's not always a bad thing.

I loved that fabric on the DR Benzak's when I saw it in the newsletter, I am just not yet ready to spend $300 on jeans.
I have been all sorts of happy with Bravestar lately. I just rinsed and wore the chino in slim taper two days in a row. They came in slightly longer than the last two pairs I have and a slightly different case to the combat chino color, but really nice.
As far as fabric goes on the Bravestars, the coal is the inferior fabric IMO.
Other Bravestar happiness is the straight taper cut. So into that pattern.

$300 for a pair of jeans is a bit much...on the other hand, I really like patches with character. To me, it is like a man's watch...we have so little we can wear for accessories and a watch is one of those few options to make a small statment. The patch on the jeans is that one place where you can shake things up. I wish more manufacturer's would do this limited run type of patch. It is why I really wanted a pair of Naked and Famous jeans...because their patches are ridiculous and I like that. Even better is how they keep the same theme but alter it for limited run jeans. But their fits don't fit me at all. The weird guy was so strange. Too loose in the waist, too tight on my thighs and not enough room for my butt. So strange. If I was going to drop $300 and needed Japan made, I would save some monies and get some wild Onis. (their patch has a devil on it...I approve!). I did poke around the benzak website and like what they do, but can't justify the cost.

There are lots to like on those jeans - I always struggle with division roads measurements, I always read about the relaxed upper block, then I look at measurements and ask for who.

Feel y'all on the price tag being tough to swallow. Guess the relative unkown aspect of the brand (in N. America anyway) coupled with emaculate attention to detail is what attracts me to the brand. Here is dry_luke of IG in his dope ass 3d Benzak fades: Two different denims there, with different start times. What's your IG handle, bentin? I didn't know you hung with the cool kids!!! Oh, wait I guess that'd be snap chat, now!??! Haha

I've picked up a couple of things in 2018, but not much. The wine oxford from Ratio is awesome, as always. The IH grey henley thermal is great too. I wear a XXL in IH shirts and went with a XL for the henley and it's plenty big. I was most worried about length with sizing down, but its not an issue. I bought a tan belt from a local leather shop, Leatherworks Minnesota and it has, unfortunately, gotten me into belts. I just ordered a belt from Red Wing yesterday in their rough out Muleskinner leather. It's 1.5" wide rather than my other belts that are 1.25", which I think will go better with denim. Finally, in my attempt to find a new source for MiUSA underwear after Ibex (RIP) went under, I got some underwear from Pistol Lake. They're OK. Good price. My fave of the three brands I've tried (Pistol Lake, Flint and Tinder, Duckworth) so far is Duckworth. Unfortunately, Duckworth is also the most expensive, probably because they use wool.

I ordered a 3sixteen black heavyweight henley this morning. Depending on how this fits i'll be ordering more. I need more henleys in my life

Nice pair! Been watching these but haven't had the chance to try them on. How are the sizing? Compared to maybe red wings or common sneakers?
