So, my style has been devolving and simplifying lately, like since I moved to England. Before I got here, I did LOTS of shopping in preparation for the cold weather, and it turns out to not be so cold. Not to mention, that I spent the first almost 3 months living out off a suitcase with limited clothing.... And now, the wife is finally here with me, so I usually dress to match her. All of that combined with the "Euro vibe" killing my mojo, and my HONEST efforts to kill my shopping addiction (I haven't bought any IH since last October, and have literally only bought a pair of gloves, and a vest during Filson's Christmas sale, totaling right around $100 if I remember correctly).
I'm REALLY looking at my closet, and LETTING GO of as much of what I don't wear/need as I possibly can, while not replacing any of it. It's my 2017 goal, and I'm kicking ass so far! This natural way of my style evolving is turning in to a look that I think reflects more of my personality, and less of fashion collection/competition.

untucked, did you feel like you were sticking out in England with the way you dressed? Or are the types of clothes that you like just not as available?

Definitely I was sticking out! But, no more than I was in Japan though. I have yet to come across a person in real life (not on a forum, or Instagram) that dresses even similar to myself, lol! But, it's just not as fun here... Everything seems to be "grey", so to speak. Even my wife has changed how she dresses day to day; she pretty much wears black yoga pants, and black heat tech shirts 4-5 days a week. She just feels like dressing flashy here is a waste, except for nights we go party

Yes. That shirting material is fantastic and one of the best values Gustin offers. It is much better than my JC**W fabrics, some of which are OK (and I'm speaking of OCBD cloth) and others of which will get this like "bacon" effect on the plackett.

Gustin oxfords are ok. Ratio is better. You can custom size your Ratio, but we are talking the difference between what $86 shipped vs. $98 shipped with some custom options. Hmm. But for OCBD's I'd get essentially the exact same makeup.

If you like dick curtains. I would say go with a Taylor Stitch one and I know a really cool guy who has a few for sale that he will cut you a good deal on Whatcha got? A charcoal Oxford which I would bet is the same fabric Gustin uses for their charcoal oxford and a really cool Indigo dyed one. I can post up pics and measurements later

TS shirts are much better made than Gustin. Ratio adds the ability to tweak the fit. I use my TS sizing with an inch added to the front (TS is a little short) and half an inch to the right cuff and a full inch to the left for my watch. That's about it.

^i'll have to keep that in mind if I ever order from Ratio. The singular gripe i have about TS oxfords is the small cuff which hangs up on my wrist watch.

For the price, they're good, as long as you're wearing a Slim or a Tall, since they're about $30 less than the other two brands being mentioned, and made of the same fabric. Otherwise ickes is right -- with that scoop you can't keep them tucked on the sides, and they're annoying untucked.

Good only if you are tall with lower upper body mass and a belly. I found many of the Jcrew and Gap shirts have better material and fit.

I have a feeling that you will purge most of your IH gears in 2017 for a more European style.

It's not more Euro... I will NOT wear stretch or skinny jeans, EVER lol! I'm just far less flashy than before. The vibe isn't right here... Seriously, we hate this place more than a 16yr old hates their parent's house

The G blue oxford has better cloth, and better fit for me than all my JC**Ws. Now I wear XLT in JC**W and XXLT in G. The cloth has a better hand, wrinkles less, and lays better without creasing or bunching. I wouldn't hit a dead dog in the rear with a GAP shirt. My JC**W OCBD's Red, Green, Purple, Black

Architecture, people, food, weather..... Everything is "grey", lol

I highly recommend Taylor Stitch's "Jack" cut as well as their mechanics cut. The collar shape is wonderfully done and looks very flattering.

@untucked Thanks for sharing your style's evolution, both as you 'mature' in your approach and execution, as well as you morph to your current setting/domestic life (matching your wife's outfit!!??!!) And even on line, no one quite has your 'look'--one of a kind!

Everything is "grey", lol You've got a few more months, but it will pick up. I've worked in London and Frankfurt and like aspects of both, but would pick London over anywhere in Germany except maybe Munich.

We are coming around a bit, as the weather warms up, and we get more sunlight (It's dark at 6pm, instead of 4pm!!!! Brilliant!!!!!)

Seriously, we hate this place more than a 16yr old hates their parent's house London is a bit of a difficult city. I've found that, in most big cities, the uniform is grey and black since everything else ends up dingy and gross looking. Just look at it as a test to your fortitude and continue wearing whatever the f!@k you want.
