Let's not forget that they went all Tyrion Lannister on the sleeves of the flannel. My faith is low in their shirt making skills. Not G low, but low.

Actually I find the left pocket with the flap to be the odd looking one (but not that much). Why is it so shallow and so wide?

Why is it so shallow and so wide? i'm perfectly fine with the funky pocket, but hate the look of the flappy pocket. i think the shallow/wide is more of an optical thing...that 2" floppy flap makes it look more shallow than it is (maybe?)

The funky pocket makes sense tho... Form vs function.
Typical workshirts have one button closure pocket, and one open pocket that has a stitched divider for a pen/pencil. I've NEVER been able to use mine, because pens and pencils are too long to hit nicely in the pocket. This "funky" design feature has a purpose

it's like a combination of a modern open pocket/pencil pocket and an old cigarette pocket (sans button closure)

Not to mention, it's no more strange than any number of Mister Freedom shirts, lol.

Of course there are uglier shirts. But most importantly, this one illicits enough negative polarity on my Buy Finger that it's still ugly enough.

Still lookikg. buzz rickson just released a deck parka which is essentially the deck with a hood but it is a 3/4 length which may be a deal breaker for you but check for it on rakuten if not. mine came in last week and it's a nice piece.

Question for you guys that have a pair of Railcars; Are the back pockets really as huge as they look in the pictures? I'm considering a pair but man those back pockets have stopped be from buying them at this point. Everything else looks great though, measurements, construction, etc...
What's the word on those back pockets?

What's the word on those back pockets? It's weird, but now you mention it, the back pockets on my pair really do look much bigger than the Oni and Flat Head pockets in those initial photos. I think it must be some kind of optical illusion of my pair being on the top of the pile and the angle of the photo, because I've just gone and compared my Spikes (w32) to Gustin's (w33 Slim) back pockets (for relatively universal reference) and they measure as follows: Gustin: 17cm widest point, 17.5cm height at max distance Railcar: 16.3cm widest point, 18cm height at max distance If anything, the Gustin pockets look slightly larger due to them being wider, but there's hardly anything in it.

ickesI don't see any size oddity of the pocket compared to the other brands I have. Which pair are you thinking?

thanks julian, thanks DigDug. DigDug I'm thinking of picking up the xo26 Japan Black/Black. I don't own a black/black denim as I always preferred a black/white black denim but my tastes have changed a bit and I'm really digging the look of a black/black denim now. They will fit nicely in my wardrobe. Anybody have a pair of these?

But if the fit works for me then I will be buying more in the future. I like what Railcar is doing and I've never really explored them much yet.

Anyone know what Railcars return policy is? It's not listed on their website.

The Big John 106 are cut pretty similarly and available unwashed, if you care. Not trying to talk you out or Railcar at all, I've just been on an unsanforized kick so usually know an alternative to most sanforized options.

I pulled the trigger on the x026 from Railcar even though they did have my size on sale at premier. I'm not sure of the fit yet so I wanted to option to return them if they don't work out. Sale price at premier was final sale. Thanks for the heads up though

Can anyone comment on the rise of the spikes? Interested but seems a bit low for us older folks....

Can anyone comment on the rise of the spikes? Interested but seems a bit low for us older folks.... I found the rise to be quite low, and the whole top block too tight. Their James fit worked much better for me, and is still what I'd consider a slim fit. I believe they're willing to sew up any of their denim in the James fit... at least they did for me.
