Anyone have experience with them in regards to there denim/jeans. I'm looking for a new denim supplier with less drama, established, small business, american made, etc. They do repairs on other brands so they know there way around a pair of jeans. My only problem is there lack of heavy denim. They have one denim at 16.5 oz. that should do for what I want.

I have a pair of their Spike X009 jeans that I picked up at Rivet & Hide. A couple of friends and I had gone up to London with the express intention of each buying a serious pair of jeans. Given the kind of brands R&H and Son of a Stag sell, it speaks volumes that I ended up going with the Railcars. rivetandhide.com/brands/railcar-fine-goods/railcar-fine-goods-spikes-x009-jean.htmlThe construction is literally flawless and quite beautiful with it. Lovely denim and the fit is literally perfect for me. I absolutely love them. Couple of photos of them: My Railcars along with two pairs my friends bought. That's some quality denim on that pub table!

I think I may be focusing on the wrong aspect of the pictures, but I love the design of their patches. Simple and professional. That's a company I can invest my monies into.

I'm trying to figure out more about the denim itself.

DigDug - the Spikes are a 32 but fit similar to my Gustin Slim (which are all 33) but slightly tighter in the thigh and noticeably larger in the waist (although all my Gustins, bar one, came in well under spec in the waist).
With the greatest respect to Gustin, the Spikes cut, fit and construction is miles ahead. The Kurabo mill, 16oz denim is gorgeous, really dense but nicely textured and quite hairy. The colour's great as well, with a distinct grey cast to them. Not really fair to compare them as they cost me £205/$320.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Railcar's jeans, they know what they're doing.

I'll probably wait a few months.

I just found a great deal in the spikes x012 straight slim which is 15 oz cone mills.
Can't wait. I've seen their product at a local store and they have a solid, international reputation.
I just hope they fit as they only had size 34. I've worn Gustin 32 straight which is tight in the top block and G 33 Slim which actually fits a little better, but I put on weight.
So fingers crossed on these. Nabbed for 129 shipped

Yeah not sure. They did a shrink test on them and it was minimal. My Gustin and other sanforized have given up sure a bit.
That said Rivet (forget the rest) did their own measurement and it came in at 35. For what i paid i can easily sell them off.

Id really like to hear from someone who has the James X014 Straight. The constuction and denim look great, and the rise looks very good. But the pockets look huge and cant get any idea of the fit from the pics on the site....

My x012 arrived. Hard to compare to Gustin as I ordered 34 which according to the RC size chart is 36. I didn't measure but I feel like they're 35.5. Just enough room to tuck in a shirt.
The rise works great. My 32 Gustin straight with similar rise have a really tight top box and squeeze my junk a little. I actually bought more supportive underwear lol.
I'm finding mid rise actually suits me better as my 33 Slim Gustin are better in the top box.
The thighs are a little tight. Not bad, just in the context of the looser top box and waist. So if you have a bigger waist and smaller thighs and want a little room these would be good. For me they're slightly skin tight. I can pull them away but otherwise there's no bagginess.
From the knee down they're slim. Not really tapered. Pretty of room and they stack nicely even if you want just a little stack.
It's a interesting Cone. Not sure if its standard stuff. A little bit of slub and enough to get a nice cross grain. I wouldn't compare them the the Gustin Okayama Standard except in terms of vertical and horizontal grain.
They seem to be impeccably made. They do cone in at around a 36" inseam. I might get them hemmed but I usually lose 1" by doing warm "handwash" cycle inside out then hang to dry. I've never had weird creases from this process.
Also they're not very starchy.
I think they'll fit perfect but that means another pair of denim to wear. I have my Oaks on but they're a little tight from the 10 lbs I gained.
For $129 shipped these are great. I still think G makes a good product that's normally a lot le$$.
Oh yeah this Cone Mills is very inky blue black as mentioned in other reviews. Very cool color.

God Help Me if my wife finds out I bought another pair of jeans and another pair of indigo at that. Hoping this is it though, "The One" . Went with a pair of Cone 16oz Spikes. Why, you ask? No Drama Mom and Pop Co. , Classic Denim, American Through and Through! I'm going to beat the Snot out of these, No washes (one soak maybe)! My big Hope is "Fit". Hoping these will be a better fit then the Gustin Slims. Pics and review to come.

I guess I know what I'm getting next. Those should be great.
Has anyone used Railcar for hemming a heavier pair of denim? My 22oz Oni would likely blow shit up at my normal tailor, so I'm planning on sending them to Railcar soon. Just curious if folks have used them for heavier stuff.

I was all set on the 11oz Rogue Territory but Railcar really impresses me, I may see if they'll send me a pair of those 23's with my hemmed Onis.

Thinking about getting my RCs hemmed. I've used them before but I might just use my local tailor chainstitch be damned this time
