Has anyone checked with Mik to see if they can get the navy, olive or charcoal Cramerton that Epaulet has?

I have the Ironside in this jacket. Love it. Looks a lot like the G Antique Americans, but the weft on the G's is a little more brown. Similar fading patterns as the indigo is showing the same pop of blue on the warp. I debated jeans in this fabric as well, but figured it was too close the the Antiques.

I think I'm gonna pop my Bstar denim cherry on these.

Spectre - It looks like a very open weave black, with a lot of white weft showing through. Since its Japanese, no doubt it will fade beautifully. I am intrigued by the navy tonal stitching. I did something similar with my charcoal dark grey Nihon Menpu 14.5 oz from the company that shall not be named. I had initially thought the fabric was more of a slate when I opted for navy thread - but as it's shown some slow fade progressions (I don't wear them much), I like the choice of navy. It's very subtle and hard to notice.

I do like them. Different than the usual. Even if its a deep indigo/almost black - that weft will definitely pop the white through with wear. That would make a cool Ironside jacket too.

I have been wearing nothing but Bravestar denim for the past three years. Prior to this wonderful find, I tried other brands, such as Unbranded and Williamsburg, which were also great brands. I am currently working in a pair of 13.5 oz indigo dual color id gems, which I love. bravestarselvage.com/products/the-slim-straight-13-5oz-indigo-dual-color-id-pre-orderIve been wearing them everyday (accept on Sundays) since teh beginning of the year and am getting fantastic fades, already. Pics to follow. Unlike many, who swear by very very limited washing, I wash my jeans whenever they need it. I run a logistics team in a warehouse in SoCal, so I sweat and bust my ass in these bad boys every day all day. I end up soaking them every two weeks and they look fantastic. They literally feel like a second skin and I am constantly getting compliments on how well they fit and how good they look. I just pre-ordered a pair of the bravestarselvage.com/products/the-slim-straight-13-5oz-brown-x-indigo-selvage-pre-order and cannot wait to get thim in November, for my b-day present to myself. One more thing and I will get off my soap box. I am a red-blooded military veteran, with a love for anything American Made. Everything associated with this company is American made and that goes a long way, in my book. They employ Americans as well. And in the economy where its so hard to find a job, I thank Mik for that.

Let's see some posts. I have pair of 16.0z for two years and while I can't wear them daily I still have yet,to see any real fade

My Cone Ironside jacket has some nice fades coming in (granted, haven't needed to wear this since last fall/winter in AZ). I have a pair of 14.5 oz that are new but need to be worn more. No fades yet. The only one that gets a lot of wear are my Crameron twills...no fades on those.

I want to try his flannels but not sure if I should go with a l or xl...usually wear a ts 44 for thicker fabrics and a 42 in lightweight. Just wondering about the gut area lol. Sent an email but no response in a week

I might need to give those a shot. My inexpensive black x black shredded, so I need to replace them. I'd really like to know if they're the sort of black that goes grey, though.

can't decide between these and the "specter selvedge" I posted about last month...the website says the specter is dar k indigo but looks more grey in the pics......also can't seem to find anything else about this fabric, so i assume "specter" is something of "adcopy" Here's some stock pics of the specter:

I've found that sometimes it helps to see the denim in other lighting. I've done this with Soso in particular. It's a lot easier to help sway you one way or another.

Those shots remind me that I need to start a campaign against black patches. There is never a time that a veg tan or deerskin patch doesn't work better. I like black patches even less than tonal thread.

I like black patches even less than tonal thread. It's unfortunate because Brave Star does a really nice job with their patches. Nice thick natural patch on most denim.

I like black patches even less than tonal thread. i've gotten to the point where i prefer a thin deerskin patch to a thick veg tan. obviously the veg tan can be more interesting in terms of evo, but in terms of pliability and belting...i've liked my deerskin a bit more

Maybe we need to convince Brave Star (or another small denim company) to take the lead and offer the thickest patch available to the market. Forget this 4mm thick nonsense, let's go all in with 1/2 - 3/4" thick patches on the denim. Beastly fabric deserves beast patches.

It's definitely overkill. As @david said, the deerskin on my Oni is a lot easier to deal with though.

^ Completely agree. I don't mind the veg tan patch but I'd prefer the deerskin.

The patch on my first pair of ciano duck chinos is ridiculous in terms of how stiff and thick it is. It also hasn't darkened up at all after many wears, couple of washes, and application of conditioner. It's really only stained up a bit where my belt hits it. I was happy to see a small fabric patch on my 2nd pair.
