Ya don't know what to tell you guys..... If I wore a shirt with a 50" p2p I could stick pillow up the shirt Maybe it's different body styles.... Pretty muscular, 5'9" ~ 200 lbs 44" chest 20" shoulders 35" waist, I was a running back in college, and still have the same same body type I guess. Damn... you really need a custom shirt... Ya.. You're not lying.... For dress shirts, custom (tailor) is the only way I go.

So, I was pretty sure about my jeans size: I measured 34.5" based on the LD video. But then guys here are suggesting order 1"up from Gustin size. My favorite pair of Gustins (their 30" which is vanity sized) if I lay flat and measure straight across and double that comes out at 30.5". Uhh..? LD CS says use 'true measure' but how are guys here getting their jeans to fit by wearing just one size up from their G size?! HELP ME BE SURE!!

When you are having things made to measure it is almost never going to work by doing anything other than your true size.

Your G size is 30, and your waist measures at 34.5"? 34.5" would mean your G size is 34.

They stretch to my actual waist size. There is no way I could fit into jeans that measured 30.5" When I order jeans from Lawless, I'll be going with a 34

Make sure you're measuring your waist at the point you wear your jeans. If you're fitting in a Gustin 30 it would be shocking if your waist is actually 34.5, as getting into them would truly be a feat of strength. If you've ordered a belt from Gustin, what size did you order?

I went with what my gustins stretch to - I buy a 33 slim and they end up at 34 so I order a 34 in LD. If I bought a 30 I'd speak in a really high-pitched voice

Thanks Exophobe. I'm a S size in G belt. S size? G belts go by numbers. I'm a 36 in G belts.

I am an idiot. My G belt is a 32 and a good fit. How the heck am I measuring my waist at 34.5? I think I'm hitting it where the jeans lie.

Actually I was measuring too low -- I came up with a 32.5 this time. Sound right?

Actually I was measuring too low -- I came up with a 32.5 this time. Sound right? Might still be measuring too low, unless you stretched your denims and belt a couple inches. At 32.5", you shouldn't be able to put on your 32 belt past maybe the first hole.

i have the same problem. i measure at 40" but i wear a G 34/35. can't figure it out. You might be measuring a little low on yourself. I just changed mine up after re-measuring and talking with LD. I wear a 34 in G which stretch out perfectly. I measured a 36 around my waist, above belt. Therefore I am a 35-36 in LD. Does that help? It could be 1-4 inch or higher change Roman said.

i think i'm measuring where i should but not too concerned. i've been doing a 35 for LD. just find it amusing that a couple of us are having the same issue finding the sweet spot.

bugula jbcoulier my thinking would be that if you err on the side of too large that Lawless would be able to alter them to be smaller. If you err on the side of too small then the only option would be a refund or a different denim in the correct size. So if you really like the denim then go with your waist measurement.

yeah i think what the majority of us seem to be doing, myself included, is going up one from our G size. Im a 32 straight G and I'm going 33 straight LD.

I wear a Gustin 35 Slim.
Comparing the Gustin fit guide and the Lawless fit guide, I went with a Lawless 35 Slim Taper and asked them to increase the cuff opening to 15.5". I only realized today that a 35 Slim taper with a 15.5" cuff opening is an exact match with a Lawless 35 Slim Straight.
So, based on measurements in their respective guides a Gustin 35 Slim and a Lawless 35 Slim Straight are almost a match.

Actually I was measuring too low -- I came up with a 32.5 this time. Sound right? That's prolly getting close. Another option (though it will be outside) would be to put your best fitting pair on, runt the tape through the belt loops and see what you get as a sanity check. In my experience, the belt measurement tends to be about 1-1.5" greater than actual waist, but that's obviously not something to base your sizing decision on. As a sanity check, though, it can help you ensure you're close. If you order a 34 I think you'll be swimming, especially if your jeans are 30.5 across broken in.

As a disclaimer, though, I've gotten in trouble on other forums for going against the "just follow the directions" mantra, so take my advice as you will. I wear 33 slim Gustin, my waist measures 34.5 or so, most of what I've gotten from Gustin has hit that number pretty easily, 34 tends to be a bit big, since they stretch to 35 pretty easily as they naturally sit lower on my hips.

I wear a classic XL in G and went with an L at LD. Still not sure if that's 100% right but I guess I'll find out.

You sized down? I have a 42.5 inc chest, measured by tape, so the 43 1/2 on gustin fits great, better after a wash or two, so probably here a 44 shirt size, M regular, probably also will be the best, even with some shrinkage.

G's shirts are a label size bigger than other brands I wear. I'm a L in many other brands and the LD L measures at what I typically wear in a shirt.

So (sorry to go back to the jeans conversation here) just to report back after some extended research and agonising re-measuring, the consensus seems to be to make sure you are measuring ABOVE the hip. And a general guideline is to size up 1 to 2 sizes in your G size. For me, I wear a 30 slim in G, and this is pretty fitting, stretching out to 32 or even 32.25 inches once fully broken in (Tape measure run through the belt loops). Typically, this means that I'm getting about 1.5 inches of stretch on most of my G pairs (30 = 30.5 true measure unstretched in G slim). SO: this means that in LD I could hypothetically go for a 31, but since the 30 G is pretty tight on me, I am better off going for a 32: and as a matter of fact, when I measure the right place (naked) I'm getting 32 or 32.5 on my tape. I hope this helps someone and sorry for the long post: it seems like everyone else had this figure out, but then again I am the slow kid in class it seems
