I'm a bit surprised to see that the work shirt thread is FIFTY FIVE pages long while this one is only two (though most Gustin product pages haven't broken 10 pages). Considering I rarely, if ever, see G chambrays up for sale second hand via various outlets; I'd think the chambrays would be a more popular topic. Maybe we just like our chambrays so much that we don't want to talk about it, thus protecting our own chances to buy/back more of them with less competition? Mostly kidding, obviously. Since starting the thread, I've sold all my non-chambray G shirts, which were just a couple flannels and oxfords. I keep seeing more and more posts on forums and on IG that are bashing the QC and fit of Gustin's shirts, yet again, I still never really see many of them up on the secondary market. Assuming a majority of the rejects (mismatched matterns, bad sew job, wrong fit / out of spec) get returned or exchanged, I'm guessing that people of a certain body type are indeed fond of the shirts & fit, and are just keeping their mouths shut? I'd love to have some of Gustins Chambray's. But not in a button down. And those Scoops gotta go!!! A complete overhaul on the design.

So what you're saying is you wouldn't love a G chambray at all.

I like the Gustin shirts crabrangoon. I like the fit and they have some great fabrics. I feel I've been fairly vocal about it.

Not too much into one pocket, button collered, lightweight chambrays. I have one Gustin shirt, the Postal Herringbone, and it is awesome. I might consider a Gustin version of a heavier weight chambray, in their workshirt model. Something more like the LD chambray I picked up off the old site.

Oh, I almost forgot entirely: did anyone here end up with one of those fancy (costly) natural plant indigo chambrays? I was so close to backing one, then on the fence again when I spotted it in the stock store, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I'd love to hear that they are either wonderful & beautiful so I could feel sad about missing it, or that they're nothing special and I'm fine having saved my money - whichever happens to be true.

the super heavy chambray looks quite awesome. Is it worth the price tag, though?

the super heavy chambray looks quite awesome. Is it worth the price tag, though? If the cut works for you and you like the design, then without a doubt. You'd be hard-pressed to find another "made in the first world" in the same/similar fabric for a lower price. If, on the other hand, you don't care that it likely came out of a sweatshop and would rather pay a lower price, you'll probably be able to find something comparable for less money.

I'm very tempted to back it. The fabric looks beautiful and would be nice in winters.

I cant Quite imagine the texture and overall feel of the fabric. I have the super heavy twill, and it feels like flannel. So I guess the super heavy Cham will be like grainy twill?

I got the #119 Cone Mills Chambray thru the stock store in a Classic M in the mail today. I'm really pleased with it. This is my first G shirt and my first chambray shirt. I want to measure up the shirt to see if it is on for specs so I understand my fit going forward, but it does fit me reasonably well. I am counting on it shrinking up a little bit in the wash as well. I'm 5'9", 155 with a short torso and I can tuck the Classic M in, which is what I want. The color and feel of the fabric are excellent. I have a feeling I'm going to be getting hooked on chambray shirts based on this. I've already started eyeing the other ones in the stock store. I think I need to see what happens to this one in the wash before I get anything else though.

I got it. It arrived two weeks ago and I'm a little torn about it. On the one hand it really is a beautiful fabric, the thick red selvedge is neat, etc. but it's also just not my favorite shade of blue - it's pretty bright and not particularly interesting. I'm much more fond of my grey slub chambray. I think I'll return it and get something more muted like the organic indigo chambray, another slub, or see how the jacquard turns out.

Wore my #119 Cone mills chambray to work today and I'm totally hooked now. That is the most comfortable shirt I own without a doubt. It felt great all day and even being heavy (for what I'm used to) it never felt like too much (inside a climate controlled area). I love the color on it right now too. It's a nice deep shade with the indigo right now and there's a lot of cross hatch texture. I will certainly be paying attention to the new chambray releases from here on out as I'd love to fill my closet with shirting like this.

I really crave the slub chambrays, but I'm not that rich right now

I want many chambrays!! But fifty percent of my G shirts are too long to wear untucked. The other fifty looks fine. So its a gamble and it sucks, there isnt many others out there with the versatility of the fabrics!
So do they shrink alot?

When I owned G shirts (sold or returned all of them) Pre-wash they were great. Post soak they shrunk a size and stunk! Way too short to tuck. I just ordered a vintage breeze plaid in a size larger than I should. Hopefully it fits great post wash.

Anyone have a Gustin Charcoal Selvedge Chambray shirt? Found one for sale. I am curious as to how dark it is in color? More of a grey or actual charcoal closer to black? Of course Gustin doesn't have any actual shirt pics just 2 swatches and who knows how accurate they are. They look light in the pics. I am looking to expand my button up shirting from my blacks and indigos. Not drifting too far though. www.weargustin.com/store/574

Not sure they ever ran it beyond the initial launch, so wouldn't expect them to have updated assembled pics of it. I think the swatch photos appear more navy, or at least more blue than I feel the shirt actually is in average lighting. Beware, it's really lightweight, super silky soft - and compared to all my other G chambrays it even has a sort of silky sheen to it? If you want a substantial beefy type chambray, just forget this one. If you want something lighter for hot/humid climate, this is fine. If you've ever checked out what J.Crew calls their "lightweight chambray" material, this feels or wears similar, but feels dramatically better.

I don't have the selvedge chambray to compare but if you want a great grey chambray I would go for the #29 grey slub. It is heavy and looks awesome.
