I realize this is a sub-forum representing many brands but we all have our favorites, whether it's because of fit, quality, price, etc. My current favorite has to be 3sixteen, mainly for the fit but also the quality. I love my crosscut flannel and their jeans fit the way I like. My first 3sixteen purchase was the sl-120x shadow selvedge. Sadly, I hardly wear them because I lost weight, so they're sitting in my closet awaiting a Railcar taper. I've just found them to be consistent, even though my st-100x were .5" under spec in the waist.
I also have to give a nod to PBJ because I love my type 2, The Strike Gold because my 1109's have the most interesting texture of all the denim I own, and Studio D'artisan because I love the quality of the flannel shirt, socks and scarf I have from them. I've also warmed up to RRL because I like the style of their shirts. I don't like that they're stuff is made overseas, so I'd never pay full price for some of it, but when on sale I'll easily consider them for casual shirting needs.
I'll eventually grab a pair of PBJ jeans, Ande Whall's, and maybe some Iron Hearts in the future. What about you?

I want to own RRL but refuse to pay $200 for a shirt.
I don't really have a favorite. I'm stuck, odd size, few choices.
SO I guess I spread the love around to anyone that makes things that fit a 46L.
The deeper I get into this, the more I realize that I need to go custom and I have grown to appreciate some of these one or 2 man shops that just do their own thing.
Because of my size limitations I have to take it where I can get it.

Get it made without that chest pocket and I've got a new thing I need in my life.

I don't know if they make customized jackets, ie removing the pocket... But, I love this ABSOLUTELY AS IS! And, it's only a couple hundred dollars more than the MF Campus Jacket

I want to own RRL but refuse to pay $200 for a shirt. RRL can be had on sale if you wait. I picked up 3 of their shirts for under $100 each. I'll easily pay more for a shirt but in most cases it either has to be made in the USA or Japan. I would say to check out Denimio or Okayama Denim, but Japanese brands dont typically sell xxl sizes. My Studio D'artisan flannel cost $130 shipped, but i wear a standard size for shirts.

There are several on the Bay that I'd love to have but I'm pretty sure they are put up there by flippers.

You're likely correct about the flippers on eBay. There were several RRL shirts I wanted that were on sale that sold out pretty fast. Those same shirts are now on eBay for twice what they were sold for. Capitalism at its finest

I was extremely disappointed when I got an RRL shirt and it was tagged Made in China. They do good work, but I find it hard to stomach even many of their clearance prices given their origin. Fit rules, and unfortunately not many do shirts as well as they do, but it's certainly not advertised that this stuff is coming out of China. Quality goods are quality goods, and like I said, they make great stuff, but many people are here out of a desire to avoid Chinese manufacturing.

This is definitely a great thread idea, as I think it will evolve as we continue to buy and wear different brands.
Primary wears: Gustin/Soso (current rotation) Chinos: TS Button-down Shirts: G/TS Flannel: G/Thomas Mason Outerwear: Bravestar Type III, LD (gasp) Candiani workshirt (layering) Boots: Chippewa, Wolverine Watch: Shinola

Yes, I have been weaning myself off of Chinese manufacturing, and yes, that is a feature of learning on this board. Thanks for pointing out the origin of the RRL stuff, I was not aware as I don't own any yet. Since I"m not going to buy it anyways, these are two I really really like the look of on the Bay but for full retail. I'd probably buy at $100. www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=70982876

Not a deal breaker for me as I have a couple things from there I really like but thats not the norm.

Saw something on maybe 60 minutes on how they are just stealing left and right and destroying US companies. Eff that noise. I know I've got some Chinese stuff, but I will not buy any of it if I can avoid it. I've had a bunch of really nice RRL shirts. I think I have maybe two left. I tried to give all the non-US stuff away over the last few years...

I saw an interview where a guy that runs a security firm here, and used to work for the CIA, stated that the Chinese Govt. is by far, the biggest offenders, and it never stops. He stated that when the Chinese president was here recently, comment was made that the Chinese would not do anymore espionage, but the amount of activity has not slowed down one bit since that visit.

That was it! Totally got me back to realizing that all the sappy posts on forums about "not all Chinese are crooks" were modern PC bullsh. Of course that's not the case, but the culture is definitely about taking other's ideas and copying them, with no regard for the people they ruin. Just read about the guy that invented this new "hover board". It will make you sick. I am banning any Chinese crap from our house at this point - as much as humanly possible.

I don't understand the surprise and outrage. The US company using Chinese labor has taken production away from the United States and outsourced it in the name of profit. It's a cost of doing business with 3rd world countries and taking advantage of their cheap labor, and having a complete disregard for the people they use to make their products, and profiting off of them. If they run into corporate espionage and idea theft, that's, again, the cost of doing business in a foreign land.

I agree with your points, but I do make rare exceptions now and again even though I dislike buying product that is non-US/Japanese made. When I looked at the tags on my shirts I believe they all say made in the Philippines. Same thing as MiC. But as you stated, fit rules but so does style, and there are very few companies who sell a broad range of shirts I like.

You really don't understand the difference between getting paid a lot of many by a US company to produce something and stealing IP from a company, producing it cheaply, and driving someone out of business? Really? I most sincerely doubt that.

My assumption is that nearly all watch companies buy their movements, and what is the price point of such a watch? Easy. There are no American automatic movements. Roland Murphy makes manual winders, but I'd imagine a bare movement would be $5k+. There are plenty of in house movements, for not that much, but they'd be Swiss or German and of course not in house for Shinola. Weiss uses ETA movements, which is a much better solution than Shinolas quartz junk.
