I resisted the green shell boots, whiskey shell boots, and now burgundy shell boots. If navy shell comes around, not sure I'll do so well. Are you feeling ok? I'm getting worried.

And, what do you wear blue boots with? According to my wife, she would need an entirely new wardrobe to wear blue shoes/boots, and thus owns none.

Stone/natural wouldn't be bad either, and a different shade of blue pants or denim.

Was looking over at Epaulet after sending off an email to Bakers so boots were on my mind this morning. Anyways, drawn to this one. I like the commando soles, the no speedhooks, and of course....shiny.

What do you find better about them? Maybe it's the pics, but they look almost chukka low.
i do admit to being heavily predisposed to not liking them. After a specific Brit, I have no love for the Viberg guy, whiny little man.

After a specific Brit, I have no love for the Viberg guy, whiny little man. It's not the pics. There is quite a difference. Although, it's not entirely on Viberg. When compared to my Wolverine 1K, the Viberg is relatively close. My Chippewa Homesteads are taller than the 1K. The Truman's are taller yet. They both just happen to be on opposite ends of that spectrum. I actually prefer the height of the Viberg. When lacing the Truman's, if I use the speed hooks, the extra height creates some discomfort on my ankle bones. I'm hoping that dissipates, as they break in. I will say, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of room in the 2030 last. It is considered an E width. But, it's a generous E. I have wide feet to begin with. The first test, I put them on with the heaviest socks I own. They went on fairly easy. Snug, of course, but nothing I couldn't live with. I'll be wearing a thinner socks in them, anyway. The Truman's were ordered a few months before the introduction of their new EE last. So, they were made with their standard last, stretched to an E. They did not pass the heavy sock test. But, they have broken in nicely, and are quite comfy with a lesser sock. With the Viberg, I like the sleeker, lower profile, and the shape of the toe. But, there is a trade-off. To achieve the look, they have to use a slightly lower heel, and flatter sole. It keeps the toe down, but it leaves very little arch support for my higher arches. The Truman forefoot has more curve to it, which swings the toe up a bit, but creates more lift in the arch, as well. For support, Truman has the edge. I will be looking for an arch insole for the Viberg. The construction of both is top-notch. I have no issue with either, in that regard. Big picture, each of them will have their place. It'll simply depend on the situation.

I pretty much have written of Viberg for various reasons, price and difficulty understanding the fit as two primary reasons. $7-- or so and I'm losing interest in calf. I have been following Truman since he came out with his line and I remain somewhat interested in getting a pair someday, but that longer I go, the more I think that may be a used pair.

Thanks. Hard to knock Truman's pricing, especially for horse.

I'll agree with your thoughts on Viberg. If you can manage a deal like I did, I believe it's justifiable. But, the $700+ range is a bit over the top. Having to scour through review after review, about the right fit, makes it far less appealing, as well.

I paid $745 for my Viberg Natural Waxed Flesh boots and I'd do it again. I agree I wouldn't pay full price with certain colorways that are pretty widely available, but the natty WFs on 1035 last is only made by Viberg, and so can only be had for full price. And they're worth it imo. Feel indestructible and go well with all my outfits.

I think that's what your saying because I'm pretty sure Natural Waxed flesh can be sourced?

Those chukkas are actually pretty cool. I may have to track a pair of those down in a better color.

Those chukkas are actually pretty cool. I may have to track a pair of those down in a better color. Well this answers that for me. I am not into the unstructured toe dimple especially when shelling out over half a g. x post from SF with caption "after a couple weeks of wear"
