If I went by R&H sizing, I may have been able to go XL. Moot point, as they were sold out. I trust 3sixteen's fit guide more, though. Both my shadow type III and shaggy flannel came dead on to it. R&H's sleeve and overall length measurements are what give me cause for pause. According to them, these shirts were designed for orangutans. Ultimately, I need 47"-48" in chest and 20"+ shoulder. XXL was my best option. Looks like I will be hoping for a 1/2+ size of shrinkage. Otherwise, I'll be layering heavy underneath. Let us know how it works out. I really want some 3 sixteen flannels and am in the same boat as you, on the bubble between the two. I'd prefer the XL sleeve length on the XXL shoulders.

Damn I just got the delivery confirmation email from 316 that my salt and pepper chambray was delivered already. That was fast. Mine has been through a cold wash, and low tumble, already. Came in a tad big, as predicted. Fit is great. A little long, though. Another wash, or 2 might take it up a bit more. I'm not going to sweat it too much. Lighter weight than I thought it would be. But, it's a damn nice looking fabric, to say the least.

So this black salt and pepper chambray is a nice shirt. Good buy for 100 bucks IMO. Mine came in big like scooter mentioned and I have it on a cold wash/med heat cycle right now. The fit is great other than being a little long in the body and sleeves as scooter mentioned also, but hopefully the wash will shrink that up a bit. I'm happy with the weight as I don't need another super heavy chambray but with that being said it's still a pretty thick shirt in the grand scheme of things. The measurements on mine came in between a Large and an XL per the 3Sixteen fit guide. 18.5" shoulders 44.5" chest (measured pit to pit, not sure if 3Sixteen measures pit to pit) 27" sleeve 31" length (just a hair under)

just pulled it out after the cold wash cycle and checked the measurements before I threw it in the dryer. Length shrunk a good inch, should be perfect. I'll skip the dryer and hang dry.

I do not mean to give the impression this fabric is somehow light weight. I think having the shaggy flannel gave me the impression it would be as hefty, albeit a false impression. I had to remind myself, flannel to chambray is apples to oranges.

ickes , any initial thoughts between it and the 21 ? I'm going to wait till after the 3sixteen shirt dries and I get to try it on again before I make my final conclusion, but my initial thoughts are that I think I prefer the 3sixteen shirt at this point. Mainly it's because the fit is better (although I'm still waiting for it to dry before I make the final call on that). Also, the 3sixteen I think can be dressed up a tad more and maybe look a little sharper or smarter because of the stealth look it has with tonal stitching and tonal buttons. So for that reason I think maybe it's a little more versatile. The IH 21 blk on the other hand is a lighter fabric in color overall with more white popping through....more towards grey than black....., contrast white stitching that pops and black buttons that pop as well. It has an undeniable work shirt look, obviously, where as the 3sixteen has a work shirt look but can almost be pulled off in more formal situations.... The 21 is a great shirt and fabric though, don't get me wrong.

Mine is set to arrive Friday. "A little long" and "orangutan arms" sort of describe me so I'm pretty stoked.

I bought the SS16 salmon check / blue check crosscut flannels not too long ago and the cuffs on both shirts are f*cked up, as in I can't get my damned hands through when they're buttoned. i'm almost afraid to wash them

Very tight. Honestly doesn't bother me though, just unbutton them when I take off the shirt.

After looking at the sizing again I think it's too on the bubble for me anyways. I just do really like some of their fabrics.

Finally back home to check out my 3sixteen score (part of the Black S & P club). Wrists are very TS snug. Fit overall is nice post-soak. I did a warm soak with cool tumble dry. It's a really good fit before and even better (more slim) post. Thanks scooter for pointing out the sale! Light enough that it's going to get some office wear as early as next week.

I find the fit on mine to be very similar to a TS shirt overall actually. Glad you like it matt. Now there's two guys in Phoenix with that shirt.

So it's just all kumbaya around here with regards to the S&P work shirt! I'll just pile on, shirt felt a little big when I got it so into the washer and dryer it went and voilà, a perfect fit. Seems a little longer in the sleeves and shirt tail than most brands cut their clothes given the chest measurement. That's just fine by me though, probably going to become a bit of a 3Sixteen fanboy if this is a normal fit for their shirts. Couple complaints, they didn't completely sew the bottom button on! Took just a minute with needle and thread, but the lighter thread I used gives away this little secret for anybody who knows to look for it. Also, the inside label fell off when I washed it. Not one to fuss about such things myself, but I know there are plenty who would have a problem with this.
