Here's an example of a selvage front that I spoke of: This is the best way to handle the selvedge. It's understated and very classy!

Guess I'll be the odd man out here and say that I dont like the selvedge on the outside of the shirt like that, it's too much for me. I prefer it on the inside, same area but just on the inside part. It's more subtle but still noticeable when you have the top button or two undone or completely unbuttoned. Just like on this TS shirt that several of us here have. taylorstitch.com/products/sea-washed-tan-selvage-chambray-glacier-shirt-1

It could be more of a chambray shirt detail, rather than a workshirt detail, but I'm gonna see if Roman can hook me up with this detail with the workshirt I've got started with him. At most you'll all be super jealous and do it yourselves.. at worst I'll like it and you guys (and my wife) will make fun of me for ruining a perfectly good shirt.. at least then, maybe I'll be associated with ugly selvage details on workshirts instead of calibrating tape measures

Just had a look - tried to order something but I don't quite get:
a) what the 'denim tags' are, or what they look like (they look awful from the tiny pics)
b) what the 'cuff' and 'cuff roll' options are all about - do they pre-cuff them for you (which would be weird)
Like the look of some of the fabric, and the choice of pocket bag material is great, but it all seems a bit haphazard.

A) The denim tags are the back patch you can choose from but there is also an option for plain. If you hover over the tag or anything for that matter it will tell you what it is like American eagle patch B) Cuff is the size of the cuff you want at the bottom after chainstitching. Chinos naturally have a thicker cuff (4th pic below) This does not mean a cuff that shows the selvedge edge but is the fabric folded over B-1) Cuff roll goes along with the hem at the bottom but is simply asking how many times you want the bottom hemmed rolled before the chainstitch hem is done I know you already know all this but it is weird to have someone ask you how many rolls you want

Thanks for that. Just put together a pair... but then noticed that the shipping to the UK is $43. I guess they only want US business at the moment.
I really like the idea of their process, but it still seems a little 'hit it and hope' to me as I can't really see half the stuff I'm specifying. Also couldn't find a way to specify a plain leather patch.
Bit of a shame, as the 15 oz. Niphon Menpu Brown Weft Slub looks great.

And it doubles for two pairs When the shirts are up, and we get some flannel, I'm going to give them a call and see if it can be couriered over as I want to place a big order

I had the same questions about my order, but since I was ordering over eMail, I just wrote for cuff and cuff roll to "do whatever is usually done with denim." I didn't understand double-chainstitch, either, so I went with single. Anyone seen a double-chainstitch?

how about a postal forwarding service, they work out great value if you bundle you items up I'm sending off some items this week to Scotland via UPS. I'll let you know what the rates are like. I do this sort of thing all the time for forum pals in UK and AU. Even DE and Norway on occasion...happy to do it. In return, I have a nice Pike Bros watch cap coming that I otherwise would not be getting! Pay to forward fellas.

just curious, how much you normally pay for shipping from big G? Gustin ship jeans to the UK for $23. I can really fathom why it would cost Lawless almost twice that.

Julian, I'd contact Roman and see what he can do for you. I know they have had some shipping glitches, and he has been working on it. Worth a try.

julian--the 9x12 padded mailer that G uses is $25 to UK. I've offered before--i'm happy to receive and resend to you. Shipping would end up costing $33 all told, but you wouldn't have to pay VAT. Let me know.

It could just be a bug on the homepage. When I ordered a pair last week (to Germany) there was also an option "First Class Package Service International (USPS) $23.48". I noticed that this option disapeared. It's probably worth sending them an email.
