Getting my blue x black tonal trucker in the mail tomorrow, Gustin was pretty legit and let me keep the contrast one. I'll post pics once this weather breaks. Post pics comparing the two. TEAM TONAL ALL THE WAY!

Cone-Luc Jacquard snuck in for a Friday delivery like Locutus of Borg. This is a sweet fabric guys, and usual Gustin complaints aside, this one is going to be in heavy rotation. At a medium distance this reads a lighter blue (not a heavy indigo as the close-up sort of implies), but I only had time to grab one pic so I wanted to try to illustrate the texture. This is a cool fabric, I hope Cone is going to keep making these sorts of fabrics. Now I'm even more excited to get mine! Monday can't come soon enough

Longest stock order delivery ever. Shipping notification August 12. Currently in MO on its way.
Edit: got the heavyweight indigo t. Bad ass shirt! It feels a tiny tiny bit smaller than my regular t but could just be the weight in feeling. Probably buying another

Bright plaid was supposed to get an update a few days ago but hasn't. Anyone get a true khaki shipping notification?

Just got notice that the #218 Cords that I backed on 07/19 shipped this afternoon. A one month turnaround…impressive.

My grab bag from last weekend arrived Thursday. With apprehension, I opened it to find... Okayama Standards! Very relieved and very happy. As an Astros fan, it doesn't hurt to sport an Orange ID down the home stretch! I almost picked up the same pair out of stock for $125 before they sold out and I got the grab bag.

I have to say, the Cone Jacquard chambray is one of my all time favorites. Jump on these Jacquard chambrays, they are worth it!

If it's anything like the Taylor Stitch Cone Jacquard Chambray, yes...yes it is. It's sweet fabric. As for me, and then there were two! Just pigment dye #2 t-shirts and Loomies. That's it!

Funny...I didn't even take my Cone Jacquard Chambray outta the bag. If anyone wants it, it's a classic XL - yours shipped for G's listed price.

well ok then... https://www.reddit.com/r/rawdenim/comments/3icus1/why_i_dont_support_gustin_and_you_shouldnt_either/ Queue up "avenger" jokes. I think it's largely stuff we've been through here in the past, but I think the biggest thing working against his argument is that, short of two examples in customer service (the leg twist and cone pima), much of the argument is based on data over a year old. How fashion works, you can't sit on a design for years and then get upset when someone copies it, especially when it's something like a duffel bag (which, there are significant differences to the filson design, many of which make a superior product, to target Gustin for a duffel bag is ludicrous since every company in the world that makes bags makes a variant of this design) or jeans. If Levi's were allowed a perpetual patent on their five-pocket design, there would be just about nothing to discuss on this forum as it currently exists. The validity of the crowd-sourcing argument continues to confound me. Yes, the consumer does take on the risk, however every time you go to an online store and see everything sold out except the 28 and 40, which eventually go on clearance and then get donated, that's a product that could have been made in a more common size but wasn't, due to the archaic way in which a lot of that production works. People here have seen that in the last six to eight months Gustin has become a lot more lenient in when they'll allow refunds (and most of the time, it seems to come down to whether or not you ask nicely), which I think reduces the trepidation in supporting them. Or you see the latest limited edition Nike sell out in the sizes people wear, and then sit on stock for the giant and tiny product, while the average sizes hit the secondary market at a 300% markup. So given the impact garment manufacture has, I'd prefer that each pair be spoken for before the resources are expended doing it, and as a company, you can price lower if you don't have to account for unsold product. Regarding price increases, well, this seems to go both ways. There simply isn't enough information available to the consumer to know what accounts for a $6-15 price increase, but I still figure it's a simple method of a pricing matrix that simply doubles the total cost of the production side, so a $1 increase in their gross cost becomes a $2 increase in the cost to consumer, but again, no way to prove this. Supposedly it costs Wolverine $130 to make a pair of boots, which could indicate different margins for different items, or that Gustin managed a better deal, though they certainly don't have the volume for leverage at a Wolverine level. However, people should recognize that a switch in the business model to "ready-to-ship" would likely result in a 20-50% price increase, which negates their niche market. Should they "grow up" as a business model? I don't know, as I see the argument for and against as equally weighted. People that recommend they go back to that model should recognize that they ran for something like 3-5 years on a traditional model before they found their niche, audience, and success in the crowd-funded model. As more and more USA startups gravitate towards this model with some success, though, it's hard to see it as failure. I think a compromise of keeping some top-sellers in-stock, like most of the bigger "crowd-funded" players, might be in order, but over the last three months or so, we've seen a lot more of this out of Gustin with t-shirts and leather goods. I don't see them doing this with the higher-cost sized items, though.

True khaki shipping notification just landed in my email. I love G denim but their chinos are perfect for me. I have more chinos than denim. Can't wait for these.

So, I damaged my original pair of Grey Silks from the initial run (Don't use too hot of an iron, the silk will basically burn away) and I lost weight and prefer Gustin Slim Cut now. A Pair of Grey Silk #72 appeared on eBay in my size/cut. I got them for brand new, unworn for ~$68 + shipping.
They came in the mail today and they felt slightly different. Compared them to the old Grey Silks and the selvedge iD was different. Turns out I purchased they Grey Silk 2 and the auction was incorrectly labeled. They don't feel as nice for sure. According to the Gustin description page they have the same weight and are Italian and the same description.
I'm hoping these soften up to feel buttery soft like the Grey Silk 1s, I didn't even know there was a Grey Silk 2. Anyone have any experience with both?
I do like this Selvedge Id better though...

August has ended and Europe goes back to work. Gustin reports the blue gum sole low-tops are getting cut soon. Status update for today: "9/1 status: Cutting is scheduled to start this week."

For those of you who are patiently waiting on #223 Khaki Selvedge Twill, check your email. It looks like an end of September arrival and G reached out with an email update and offer to refund or provide some credit for patience. Naturally, the Gustin model encourages some level of patience, so credit works for me.

My #228 Japan Summer Sky arrived this morning as I was walking out to work. Looks like a pre-soak is suddenly on the agenda for tonight.

It is. I'm not looking at these jeans as a pair to fade. It might be blasphemy around these parts, but I just like the less saturated blue color as it is, and I'd like to try to "fix" the dye.
