Yeah I'm waiting on that shirt also. I gave up long ago tho. No use in getting frustrated with this company. They will shamelessly give you excuses as to why it's taken so long. I used to work on the ford assembly line building f150s. It takes 18-20 hours to fully assemble one and we on average put out 600 trucks in a 10 hour period. The last thing gustin told me was the reason its taken this long was the intricate care and quality craftsmanship they put into these shirts. 4 months tho? C'mon, I don't think anyone is naive enough to fall for this marketing chicanery. At least I hope not.

C'mon, I don't think anyone is naive enough to fall for this marketing chicanery. At least I hope not. I don't think it's marketing, they're just trying to give you the best answer for why goods are taking twice as long as anticipated. By best answer, I mean the answer that is least likely to result in an escalation of the situation from annoyed customer to angry customer. However, to tell me that the intricate construction is taking longer than expected 7 weeks after you told me they're completed, and then you ship a product that funded the day you told me those chinos were ready, well, that indicates to me that you A) don't know what the hell is going on with the chinos, and B) that you're telling me what you think I want to hear to cover up for some other issue you're not communicating. I know they're different shops, but this latest shipment (due Friday or Saturday) was literally paid for, manufactured, and shipped in the amount of time that Gustin has been telling me that my chinos are out the door any day. Now I just hope the legs match.

I think you're wrong about that. Throwing power words like intricate details, and quality craftsmanship scream marketing. At least to me. Maybe I'm just sensitive to it tho.
Look, I don't blame them either for it. They're trying to save as much face as they can. I just want alittle honesty from their part. They don't seem to understand the importance of communication.

just getting tired of "yeah. dunno, wait longer" as an answer. their ignorance of it in all public spaces makes it frustrating, and announcement of random credits for some people, and ignorance of the issues for others takes it to the next level. I'd say more about it, but everyone is right, this is depressing. gonna see if I can't find some more car videos.

Taylor Stitch released a new denim workshop item today. It will ship the first week of April. It is funding until 2/15 I find it interesting that TS can go from inception to delivery in under 8 weeks, (6 weeks from funding), but Gustin struggles with 10-12 weeks. TS quality is as good if not better.

I will take a pair of Heavy Americans over those any day. The fit on the TS jeans does not look good to me.

Not that specific fabric etc, but they've put out triple needle denim utility shirts in the past. The design is identical except fabric.

I don't know, I'm just trying to decide on a date when I say OK time to demand a refund

IxI, Japan 17 and SHS were supposed to "start" shipping on 2nd but I haven't heard anything yet. Maybe they are shipping a couple of them each day.

Wine Oxford locked sizing yesterday, Monster Twill locked sizing today. Happy the Grey Shadow came back today, excited for it unless my JUB's show up tomorrow and have major issues (some rumblings on style forum about weirdness, we'll see). Curious about the JUBWS, depending on how much I like the fabric. I have to say, the wabi sabi is one of my favorite things I've gotten from Gustin, it's cool watching the blue come up as I put more wear on it.
Still nothing new on the chinos, expecting cryptic update on Sunday.

Yes, Gustin is absolutely right. It takes a lot of intricate care and quality workmanship to misalign plackets, pockets and yokes. don't forget the mismatched cuffs

received my Japan Union Blues today. Exactly what I expected. off to the gym, pics later the outside feels like 150 grit! Color from the Gustin pics seems dead-on, no surprise whatsoever when I pulled them out of the bag.

Ditto on the JUBs. Great texture, crispy and on the cornflower blue end of the spectrum. Pics on G site seemed to be spot-on.
My plan is to wear these 1-2x/month and let them go unwashed indefinitely in order to maintain the hue.
They seem to be the right size, if not a bit longer than normal. I'm going to avoid comparing the left to right legs in order to prevent myself from going mental.

And unlike ickes, I did my gym time at noon in order to dedicate my evening to chicken wings, Manhattans, red wine, and indigo worship.

I don't remember who asked for this but here's a few pics of my Japan Union Blues next to my Okayamas for color reference. JUBs on the right, Okayamas on the left;

Overall I really like the JUBs and they are exactly what I expected them to be. Great pair for summer.

I've decided that the Japan Union Blue color reminds me a lot of circa 1977 Dallas Cowboys blue . . . the silvery-blue hue of Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, and Ed Jones.
I think it would make a pretty cool retro-looking workshirt, especially with the contrast stitching.

In case all my sandpaper analogies gave the wrong impression, I love the fabric, and am debating the workshirt.

yes, I think the Japan Union Blue will make for a very nice WS. It looks great with the contrast stitching as mentioned.
As for the sandpaper comparisons, I'm not sure I agree. I mean, the fabric is super starchy and stiff for a lightweight denim but there are a lot of other fabrics that feel much more like sandpaper imo. The Oaks, Charcoals, Black 2s, Loomstates, and Heavy Americans all feel more coarse, rough, and textured than the JUBs imo. I think the JUBs are quite ccomfortable.
