I kind of want to ask Gustin for a refund for all this waiting. I could have bought an SDA D5335 for almost the same price back in October when the Cone WS funded, but noooo, I wanted to support Gustin. Lightweight kicking myself for that now

Yep. It's starting to look like they didn't know the sew shop had the last two weeks of December off, and have been left to stall. Not trying to start rumors, but nothing that was supposed to ship in December really seems to have shipped in December, and has now been delayed to mid-January, and the stuff due in January is waiting without update -- at least it seems like they're slowing down on new campaigns, so maybe it'll be caught up in March?

The ZimLites shipped out in early-mid December, which was within the initial estimated delivery window. I have a Dec/Jan shirt that went into production a while ago and Feb jeans that had sizing locked, IIRC, late last week. Small sample size alert and all that, but it seems like they might already be in the process of digging out of that hole...for some stuff, at least. We shall see.

My Feb one got locked recently as well and the Jan ones have been locked for at least a month. But, locking it might not be directly correlated with the delivery times. Anyways, it's just speculation at this point - we'll find out in the coming weeks or months if that has a cascading effect or not.

Well, the ZimLites being delivered on time isn't speculation; that actually happened. Point taken on the other stuff, though. I just wanted to throw a few more data points out there for us to chew on. I think it's safe to take the sizing lock as a proxy for an item going to cutting, and from there most things typically seem to ship out within 4-6 weeks at most. So yeah, the "we'll see" approach is always a good one in my book, but for those who like to try to read the tea leaves at least there are a few positive signals emerging from the holiday sturm und drang. Better than the alternative...

Just received a pair of American 16ers (34 Slim).
I was really unsure about getting these as I used to wear 36 Slim before I lost 30 lbs.
These things are bang on spec. And I mean on the nose. Best of all, the fit is perfect. That makes the last three pairs I have received all within the fit guidelines.
Only downside for me is I now have two pairs of 35 Slim that are bigger on me than I would like (and around four pairs of 36 Slim that are huge on me). Oh well.
Time to bring back the Okayama Gustin! Book me in for a 34 Slim, love that denim.

Looks like my interminably late nov/dec navy chinos are set to ship the week of 1/12. They're my first pair of chinos and I'm eager to check them out.

I've worn my American 16ers pretty much since I got them (wore the Japan Olive today) and have really been enjoying them -- moreso than any other indigo denim I've bought. I sort of only got them for the contest, but since Gustin has gone dark on it, I'm glad I at least like the things. They sound kind of crunchy, though, it'll be nice once they soften up a bit more. Regarding sizing, I haven't seen any issues since last summer, which is great news since it was getting pretty frustrating not knowing if they were going to show up in the size you ordered.

I think Gustin kind of threw the contest out there without thinking it through very well. With one of the two eligible jean denims on offer a couple times a month and no lot to lot differentiation from one campaign to the next, coupled with a legit sized cash prize...well, trouble is brewing before the horses even leave the gate.
With their business model they would do much better to launch an American 16er and a Heavy American campaign on the same day, closing the same day 14 days later, guarantee funding regardless of how many people get in and then set a start date based on the actual ship date, once the jeans are finished and cued for shipping. The final detail is the contest pairs need to have a feature that is unique, one brass rivet, a contest specific patch etc. It makes the whole thing a lot more fun and then there are no questions about origin because while most people are cool, there's always that one guy who will cheat and blow it for everyone else.
Back on topic, my Italian brownXblack work shirt slipped from December to last week in December to week of January 12th. Nothing on the Army Duck chinos. Not stressing it at all. I'm on a no buying clothes for 90 days break/purge crap I don't wear much plan so the longer this stuff slips, the more novel it will seem when it shows up.

I thought anyone with an American 16er or Heavy American was "in the contest" and after a year (or whatever the timeframe was) everyone involved could send in their pics and some kind of vote took place?

These are assumptions. All Gustin has said on the matter is that all American 16er and Heavy Americans would qualify, which sort of defeated the purpose of having contest pairs. All they've said since is that they will announce details at some point in the future, and now it's January and there are still no contest details. I think the production of them being delayed to where all of them shipped late is obviously a contributing factor, but the silence on the matter is frustrating. Whatever, they're great jeans, I'm glad I have them, and I'm enjoying wearing them.

Second offering of Japan Union Blues just funded very late December, and the sizing is already locked.

Cancelled my Cone BluexBlacks. Delays made me regret backing them. They would further "complete my collection" but that just means less wears for what I already have, and so basically didn't need. I will consider them again later if I end up selling a couple pairs, which I'm considering with my Okayamas/Zimbs and Black2s.

People who've owned their HAs and A16s longer than others will obviously have the upper hand. But after months of selling these denims after the announcement without a followup, I'm doubting they will be having the contest at all. They've already botched their opportunity to make it a real contest.

Just got my sky jacquard chambray. It was 2" short in the chest. The only other oxford I backed, the rustic green twill, was also 2" short in the chest. I am losing faith here, guys!

First time backer, backed the Italy Sea Blues... and got an email that they just shipped.
On the page though, the shipping date is given as March. I was thinking that maybe they had a pair in my size left over from the last round but was going to check if anyone else had a similar experience.

Hoping your first pair turns out good for you. Likely were right on the pair being from a previous campaign.

I've had the same experience on an Oxford. The shirt was clearly on hand when the backing closed. Post up a review when they come in, lots of discussion/debate on the medium blue denims lately.

Still waiting on the caramel herringbone chinos. Pretty excited. Should be a great casual pant that goes well with denim tops. Hopefully the fit is on and the construction is top notch.
