And what do you all consider to much drinking? Not talking being drunk, just weight gain. If i drink one or two beers (mostly light beer) a day is that to much? And would have that much affect (or effect. I Never know which one to use)?

But you'll have to make it up somehow, either exercise more, or eat less, or eat the same and gain weight. I love beer. But I won't have more than a six pack a week, and that's if it's a rough week. I'd rather be fitting my macros with ice cream than beer though, I love ice cream. Graeters Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla and Graeters Chocolate Chocolate Chip being my go tos.

My suits not fitting well either. I can always tell about weight when my dress shirts get right in the neck. Whiskey vs beer? Hmm. 1. I drink a lot less than I did in my 20s, and when I do its usually whiskey unless I'm out with my GF and it's beer/wine with dinner. 2. Basically as guy, after your late 20's you have to decide if you want to just chill and let the pounds accumulate or fight aging by working out regularly. I'd recommend that latter, it will help in many areas of life. I'm not saying go full bro mode but cardiovascular and weights or at least asport you do regularly. Don't sell your jeans man, keep them and work out AND get some IH and Oni's to reward yourself later. (BTW been there with the sick kids and married life thing....you can still do it man) 1. Seriously. The last time I drank heavily was on my 30th birthday, and that was a year and a half ago. It just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's all about enjoying that one or two drinks, turned to Scotch Whisky and better beer (love the Milk Stout by Left Hand Brewing), than it is about bingeing and then regretting it the next day. 2. For sure, pick something that you love doing, and do it. I love lifting and playing basketball. Basketball I don't make as much time for anymore, scheduling time to get a game with friends is a chore, so I lift 4-5 days a week.

I lost 24# (and continuing) by using MyFatnessPal-- I mean MyFitnessPal; I've logged in for 320 days in a row. You will lose weight in the kitchen, it's as simple as that. My suggestion is to get MFP (or one of the other calorie loggers), stick to it, and still have a beer or two. You just have to be careful about what else you eat. Keeping the fat off will help you when you're an old fart like me. Exercise will also keep you young -- and give you extra calories that you can fill with beer. See? It all works out.

MFP really does work. My daughter has used it for a few years and hasn't gained. However, she is a little fanatical when it comes to counting calories.

And would have that much affect (or effect. I Never know which one to use)? No matter what answer is given, someone will argue with it on this one DigDug. Here in the US we seem to do a lot of binge drinking (30 beers over the weekend, no beers during the week). Years ago I used to work in the auto industry on a contract with BMW and those guys would come to the US and drank beer every day at lunch and every night...also about 30 beers a week. My doctor says more than 2 glasses of wine is excessive. Mormons say you'll go to hell if the stuff touches your lips. My old Irish boss wouldn't hire someone who didn't drink. Who knows (shrugging emoticon). I recently stopped drinking during the week at all and have maybe a whiskey or three on weekend nights. Sometimes nothing though.

I'd absolutely agree that what you eat and drink, is tied to one's weight, more than exercise. I know many that are active, and exercise, but eat a lot of "crap", and can't figure out why they don't lose weight. For me, its not a couple of beers that is problematic, but the munchies that ensue when partaking. I've learned that by cutting processed foods, and sugars from your diet, then you are pretty much good to go, but this can be very difficult in the beginning, and the exercise part is just icing on the cake. Really though, leave the cake alone!

Keep drinking but white carbs and sugar are killers. Heck look at one 20oz bottle of coca cola.
25-50grams of sugar a day is recommend by the WHO. Really was 25 but they kinda were forced to bump it to 50.
Of course America has not put % of sugar on products for daily value.....big sugar pushing companies cola and other candies own the lobby.

I have a few beers per night. Not Coors light either. I bought my Gs when I was in half Iron man shape. If I ditched them I'd probably size up and order same. Turning 44 tomorrow. My wife bought me $500 Gustin gift card bless her heart. She knows I want to size up.
Guess I'm just being a cheap vast are and don't want to sell Okayama Standards for cheap!
Just ordered my first Gustin shirt though.

Should prob cut back a bit with the booze. A few per night really adds up. Kinda like drinking a soda with every meal.

Clearly she doesn't know what I've already spent there. I'm not into their shoes. I do like my waxed canvas jacket. I'll probably wait for some flannels to come back and get some navy chinos too.
Loom states perhaps. And hold onto my current jeans.

Chinos are awesome. Wonky sizing my slims and straights are the same sizing minus rise.

Chinos are awesome. Wonky sizing my slims and straights are the same sizing minus rise. I really like the fabric on my Japanese twill, but sizing is totally wonky, for a chino. Mine fit great in the top block, but the thigh is just too small for a proper chino cut pants, and I shouldn't have to size up a couple and wear a belt, to have the needed room in the leg. I'm going to try a pair of Buzz Rickson Original Specs.

I'm with ickes on this one.. diet and exercise. I enjoy a drink or two and horrible food when the urge strikes, but I kill it in the gym every weekday, so feel I can indulge in a few luxuries every once in awhile. By sizing up, I feel you're settling a bit with your self image. If you're totally cool with yourself as you are now and enjoy your life without thinking you should probably hit the gym a bit more frequently, carry on.. if you find yourself thinking maybe you should go for a run or two, don't make it easy to stay where you are by accommodating you as you are and not you as you want to be.

I'm in this fix right now. One day I say eff it and I'm going to order some new ones a size up, then I wakeup and go REALLY? I'll lose the weight, but with my work and life at the moment, I'm not having luck getting a routine back. that's the biggest challenge and it's the problem nearly everyone faces. It is tough and you sometimes just have to make the time to do it. As a single father I completely understand being busy and having trouble squeezing in the routines but it just takes a little sacrifice and schedule adjustment to do it. Last Friday I woke up at 3:30 a.m. to squeeze in my workout because that was simply the only way I was going to be able to get my workout in. It's just all a matter of how bad a person really wants it. If you're (not you personally, just saying in general) happy and content with being a few pounds overweight and would just rather buy clothes a bit bigger then more power to you and that's completely fine, I ain't judging. Me though, I'm my own worst critic and I'm damn near addicted to working out so I'm much better off mentally when I'm on a solid routine. It's just how I'm wired, it drives me nuts if I feel like I'm "loosing it" or am a little bit out of shape but I'm not in complete bro mode by any means pumping my veins full of juice or anything, and I in no way judge other people who aren't in shape. It's just all a personal thing with me and what I do to make me happy, content, and to relieve stress.

I've recently lost weight myself due to the stresses of my separation and diet. I went from a 35"+ waist to a 34" waist. My jeans are a little looser on me now but it's nothing a belt won't fix. I've also changed my diet so that i'm eating better. I've been cutting out processed sugar and have been eating healthier (ie. lots of protein, fruits/vegetables, etc). Of course, I could use more exercise as that would give me more muscle mass. I still eat unhealthy food now and again like Pizza or what have you but it feels good knowing that i'm doing something to live a healthier life.

This guy right here named ickes ^ just hit it. I'm not into lifting to get huge at all, although a bit of size in the right place makes your clothes fit better. I've lived life mostly as an endurance weenie, mountain biking cycling, running, did triathlon for a while but got tired of the relentless piles of gear, surfing when I can get out.... Always have hit the weights though, the strength and stability from a strong upper body can't be beat, it makes you carry yourself differently as well. I don't mean in a meathead way, it's just a confidence that comes along with it and a sense of mind/body awareness. Your balance is better, you just move through life better and you can do most things with a lot more grace. I'm currently at an all time low fitness wise. I'm slowly coming back though and it feels awesome. I didn't put on too much weight during my down time, added about 15 lbs, 185 to 200lbs but the exchange of muscle tone for random blobby bits has royally pissed me off. I'm 6-2 so I can hide a slight weight fluctuation pretty well, but I'm not happy with myself right now at all. So, I'm back on it. beeranddenim you posted your age and I'm 45, so I'll say this. Start back slow. I know everyone says that but really do it. After about 35, if I slacked off on training, I learned the hard way, several times, to go back slow. If not you will start collecting chronic injuries. My last run with this culminated with steroid shots at age 40 into both forearms because I couldn't get it through my thick skull that I was bumping my pull up reps up too fast. Real genius move there, Stevo. I still get pain there when doing really strenuous forearm related (somebody going to take the obvious joke here).... I'm posting this because I'm going through it right now. It's hard as hell to go into the gym and pick up those light weights and do low reps of your core workout etc etc when you've been to the other side of the mountain and been in great shape. I'd recommend you go forth and start slow though. I think you'll feel amazing in 3 months if you start now and you won't need to size up. BTW a pair of American Sixteeners got me back to the gym. I wore those suckers all through the late winter to summer of 2013. I pulled them out of rotation as the fades were good and I got into some other jeans. A few weeks back, I tried putting on the sixteeners, no way. Tight everywhere. Reality hit. I had to stop drinking so much, letting life set my priorities for me and get back in shape. Dude, go do it. You can always size up later if you really want to.

Yeah it's the change from muscle tone to flab. I probably look the same and actually feel fine. It's more just being pis pissed my expensive clothes don't fit.
As for the chinos I sized up 2 and went with slims and they fit perfect. Really should have been 1 up. I fit Gustin 32 but in hindsight 33 would have been just a little better.

Oof, I wish every day. But a 5 year old and a busy as f!@k career have said otherwise. I try running and swimming as often as time allows, and have the diet clamped down to a bare minimum of caloric intake, but if I exercised every day (let alone went to the gym every day), I think I'd have a revolt on my hands. Good on ya for finding the time.
