deal. post deleted. 14oz Kaihara with my box calf Trickers Stows. Nice. What do you think of the Tricker's? I have 3 Stows and really like them, especially the quality. Being able to wear them to the office or with jeans makes them ideal, and even cheap in the long run.

I have three pair myself--black stow with black dainite (tricker's x norse projects), espresso stow with leather soles, and espresso scotch grain superboots with brown dainite. I'm thinking about getting the acorn ones next, or perhaps the tan burnished.

stinky, I don't know where you're based, but I think they're maybe a bit pricey in the US, so Alden and the like probably pick up the sales instead. They're not cheap in the UK, £390 or about $600-odd, but having worked my way up through the ranks, including Grenson, the Tricker's are way better quality, and they have interesting leather/dainite sole colourways in the small outlet collaborations. My next pair will probably be burgundy, ideally with an orange or green sole. I have burgundy Tricker's shoes, but prefer the boot style. To prove I'm not UK biased, my favourite casual shoes are Red Wing and Wesco, and feel that they're both better quality than anything we have in the UK.

wdw, I'm in the US, but I've managed to get smoking deals on all three pairs. The black ones were $310 shipped, the brown ones were $450 shipped (Shoehealer sale), and the scotch grain ones were $250 (eBay from retricker--they had a very minor blemish). I've been lucky stumbling on sales. I have a huge credit with End for 2 pairs of faulty, India-made Grensons. The India Grensons are garbage. Garbage.

stinky, wow, those are seriously good prices. I can't imagine you can get anything remotely comparable for these prices.+ I'm with you on the Grensons. I have the Fred boots and Sid shoes, and the shoes are thin unlayered cardboard-like rubbish. Compared to the Tricker's they're not even close to the same league. End get some really good Tricker's styles, so you'll get a good pair there with your credit. The Acorns are something else. Very classy and distinctive.

I know it's not fair to discuss Lobbs, especially the bespoke ones, but you guys are known for the best shoes for a reason.

bentin, ha, I don't know Greens, but I'm guessing they're in the $000s. I can't see the fuss about Lobb, something crazy like $7,000 the last time I looked, as they're boring as hell and I can't come close to imagining how the quality can merit that price. I'm happy with Tricker's but am only comparing them to Church's and other similar mid-range British makers. BTW, I see that Church's are now doing a Stow copy, but more boring.

Diminishing returns has to kick in when your shoes are priced the same as a 5yo used compact import. I had the G black archies and tan sids. The stitching came undone in key places on both pairs after a few wears, and End reimbursed me in full for both pairs including return shipping. I loved the sole on the Archies, though.

Lobb's bespoke pricing is insane, but apprently it's the only way they can keep demand at a reasonable rate. They're timeless, not flashy. His ready made shoes are only slightly absurd.
Green's are close to a thousand quid, but generally not more. With no VAT, they're comparable to Alden for us over here.
Trickers does have some creative colorways and frequently show up on STP on the cheap. I may need to try a pair.

Seeing as we've hijacked this thread, I'll post up my Tricker's on that thread and others can join in if they like. The mods can move all this shoe talk over there if they think that's appropriate.

As discussed on another thread, here's my Tricker's collection. Left to right, Black Stow with red Dainite sole, Beige nubuck Stow with brown Dainite sole, green Stow with orange Dainite-copy sole. I can't remember the shoe name, but it's burgundy with a black commando sole. Finally, a comparison between my similar Tricker's and Grenson shoes. The Grenson is unlined, smaller, thinner and uses cheaper leather. The Tricker's shoe cost £375/$560 compared to £200/$300 for the Grensons, but I'd say the Tricker's are the better long-term buy, as they simply look so much better and will undoubtedly last longer.

I have those soles on my Meermin. Awesome.
If anyone knows a source for those soles, Let me know. I am not sure my local guy has those in stock, but he does amazing work and so so cheap.

My Tricker's Burford in espresso scotch grain with brown dainite soles. These are on the 2298 last vs the 4497 of the Stow, and therefore are a little narrower in the forefoot. I sanded and waxed the sole edge. The trickers scotch grain starts out quite plasticky, but softens over time. Background is a cheap green Ikea rug in my office.

I like some of Tricker's shoes but there's nothing i really need. The only UK brands i own are Alfred Sargent and Crockett & Jones. Im a fan of Edward Green and Euro brands like Vass, carmina, Enzo Bonafe and St. Crispins. If money were no object I'd buy them all

My END x Tricker's Richard Longwings arrived and I wore them for the first time today. I fully understand that not everyone is a fan of longwings, or the black scotch grain for that matter, but now that I have them, I realize these are exactly the shoe to pair with denim that I've been looking for the past few years. Love these things. The upper leather is very thick. The natural soles are extremely beefy and will darken over time. They look great with cuffed denim. They will definitely take a while to break in, as the soles are heavy and have very little flex at this point.

Hmm, I kinda dig them in that shot. I love black shoes with natural soles with denim, and the textured leather actually works better for casual wear than my normal preference for soft leather. Well done (aside from the longwing bit ).

Well done (aside from the longwing bit ). Wow, I'm speechless! I tried three black/natural brogues before these--AE McTavish (way too old-man looking, and the oxford lacing doesn't work well with casual wear IMO), Grenson Archie (crap leather and even crappier construction), and a pair of italian made Cole Haans which went straight back the day they arrived. I think the best way to describe these is "unapologetically clunky."

How on earth do you get them so cheap? END had them on sale for $335. They were on clearance and only had 2 pair left, one in my size and a 6. We don't have to pay VAT, so they are automatically 20% cheaper over here. The normal US price from END is $509 for shoes and $529 for boots + $11.95 for shipping.
