That's a ridiculous response. Mine is super low and I'd send it back if it weren't for the contest. But saying an unsanforized pair will magically gain an inch of rise if you pull hard enough? Come on. That's just an admission that you're not willing to suck it up and take responsibility for a whole batch that sewed up under spec.

Every now and then there will be a legit markdown that shows up in the stock store, but pretty rare and usually only on things that have a single item remaining. From what I've seen.

Zloomies are marked down to $120. Quite a few sizes left.

Well, my 38 slim sewed up like a 36 slim, so you may be perfect. I'll definitely be a Plant contender, even if my plant is more like a seedling.

Definitely a typo. I got mine for $118. Happened with the Horween Tote earlier this year where they had it for $100 more expensive than they normally were. I paid $109 shipped for the raw umber in October 2013. I ordered a pair about a month ago that was marked down to $70-75, only to get the message from Ren that it was sold out. So 214 is just dumb.

I agree with most of the suggestions above (7 buttons, smaller gussets, flaps, etc.), but I also feel like I'd like to see slightly shorter collar points with a few degree wider spread. Maybe it looks better with the top button undone, but the collar looks a little severe to me.

Cross posted from New Arrivals: Just got my black high-tops. These are pretty lovely. The leather is supple and a nice matte black that is well-contrasted by the off-white Margom sole. The packaging was a simple white shoe box printed with the GUSTIN logo, and there is a white cotton bag for the shoes with the logo in black. The shoes are pre-laced, but I redid them, because the way they are laced, while aesthetically-pleasing, is not conducive to quick tightening.
A few minor critiques: 1: My left shoe has a ridge under the ball of the foot. I removed the insole and found that the felt that is glued to the sole was glued with a wrinkle in it. I lifted the felt and loosened some of the glue, and it is a little better. It will probably go away with some use, but still mildly uncomfortable. 2: The laces are a bit short for the size (13)--Not a huge issue, but I have to unlace the top holes to get my feet in. I'll start looking for new laces tonight. 3: The right tongue loop is a touch lower than the left, so there is a bit of a tug on it when it is laced. Minor. 4: The tongues lie against the bend of the ankle a little funny and bunch up, but I think as they break in they'll settle in. 5: One of the eyelets had a sharp burr of metal sticking out and I cut my thumb a little bit, but it came off easily.
With them all laced up, it is pretty clear that they are going to be comfortable almost immediately. The leather molds to the foot like a second skin. I'll post pics if people are interested, but the photos on the website are pretty solid, despite their iphoniness. All in all, I'm pretty happy with them for the price. I'm really hoping the ridge in the left sole smooths out, because if so, they are probably going to be my new favorite pair.

Just soaked mine while wearing. Started at 112°F, soaked about 20 mins until I couldn't take the sweating. Final temp 106°. Presoak meaurements: Tag size 38 slim Waist 37.6 Thigh 24.5 Knee 17.6 Cuff 16 Front Rise 9.75 Rear Rise 14.5 Not full-on smurf murder, but a little bloodletting. I'll post postsoak measurements tomorrow.
I'm fine with starting whenever everyone has theirs, but waiting till 1/1/16 is no biggie, either.

I think my first soak of that thing would be in tea or coffee to antique it. Might work out, but I wouldn't be tossing my $300 dollar flannel in a cup of joe. For $300, I'd expect it to have been done for me

Seriously. I've gotten the "this is a denser weave than those other jeans in the same size, so you won't get the same degree of stretch" email 3 or 4 times, too. You have the fabric there--maybe give a heads up that it's a "dense weave" and order up one. Or admit that sometimes your QC sucks and make it right--which they are generally good about. But it does get pretty damn old sending back pairs that don't fit that you were excited about. I'm really hoping the Guiron Hearts (Eh? Eh?) sew up right.

I actually did that for a j crew flannel a few years back that was was waaaaay too patriotic-looking. The white was blinding. Tossed it in some strongly-brewed coffee for a couple hrs and it looked much less offensive. Hasn't really washed out, either. Just a nice, dusty antiqued look.

Ren Sanchez (Gustin) Nov 16, 4:33 PM I would suggest going with your usual size for the Japan 21s. Best, Ren And with that, I for one, am definitely sticking with +1".

Thanks for the heads up. My size and bought them. I think they are the exact pair from Self Edge product page. The flannel lining match perfectly. My pleasure. I just wish I could have scored them

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and just sit in a hot bath with these for 20-30 min and wear them until dry. Maybe while wearing a cup?

I also got 38 slims (usually wear 36 for a close fit or 37 for a slightly more relaxed fit in G), and these feel smaller than they should (particularly the rise), but I'll post my measurements tonight. The waist was ~18.75, though, if I'm being generous and stretching them, I can get them to aaaaaalmost 19".
