I am also between sizes and asked Mik what he would suggest. He advised me to size down. The fit is perfect for me, but I haven't washed them yet and probably won't for awhile. I usually wash stuff in cold and low dry, which is what I'll probably do with these. I've never really had too much of a problem with shrink on other twill chinos, hopefully this one will continue the trend.

Just ordered a single velva sheen white pocket t at Steven Alan for $23 plus $9(!) shipping. Most of the stuff on the site is 30% off thru Labor Day. I'm kinda between an L and and XL, but got the XL figuring I could get a little shrink. Seems like a good price for MiUSA, tubular knit and immediate shipping.

I'm thinking these G's are comparable to Velva Sheens that sell for $65+ for a 2 pack. Any experience with the Velva-Sheen T's? I have a local retailer so I might go check them out.

It's not that I wasn't going to do it, I just haven't worn it yet (85-90 here all week). Anyhow, the only thing I'll add is that it feels almost like a very refined canvas. Can't recommend enough. Damn those shirts look good. If I didn't already have the California jacquard I think I'd have to get one. Those buttons are cool.

I want a white pocket T. TS looks pretty good. Also thinking about the 3sixteen heavyweight T which has gotten good reviews here. The one thing holding me back from the 3sixteen is the weight. 9 oz seems heavy for summer. What's the weight on the TS T? I don't see it on the site.

No, I was just confused by your post: "Unsanforized generally twists more, and unsanfo'd generally doesn't twist at all. " Maybe I misread it, but it seems like you're saying unsanforized does and doesn't twist. Getting back to topic. The denim for these CF jeans is is sanforized, right? But folks are seeing twist? I'm confused.

Is there a relationship between denim weight and the amount of twist, or is it just a random thing? I only have two pairs of selvedge denim (heresy, I know), that are 13 and 15 oz and haven't noticed any twist. Also, I wonder if taped seams influences twist at all. The taping may shrink differently than the attached denim, contributing to twist? Just a theory... Loose weaves twist more. Unsanforized generally twists more, and unsanfo'd generally doesn't twist at all. Right hand twists clockwise looking down, LHT counter and broken twill shouldn't twist. Weight seems to have less effect than how loose the weave is. Wha...

One more pitch for ratio. A friend of mine has, per his description, disproportionately long arms. He ordered a ratio shirt that fit great out of the box, but after a wash, the sleeves were too short. Ratio took the shirt back and lengthened the arms at no charge. They also changed his fit profile so all the shirts he orders from now on will have the adjusted fit.
I know nothing about shirt construction, but they must have had to make new arms for that shirt, right? That seems like a company committed to getting the fit right.

Yes, yes, yes and yes to all of it. I want jeans made out of Gustin-sourced denim that fit me like BR, Gap and JCrew jeans. For the love of all things holy, I have had to modify the freaking calves on many pairs of G jeans just to allow blood flow to my feet, yet if I order the regular cut, there's all this extra fabric pooling and drooping and flapping about my feet. I want any shirt that I order from anywhere to fit me like a JCrew L/Slim or M/Regular. There's something to be said about buying something off the shelf or ordering online knowing that it's going to fit perfectly and not worrying about whether it sewed up small or big or has large scoops or tight forearms or stupid high arm holes that allow no movement without coming untucked (although with all earned respect to the gentleman around these parts, of course). CF is my last hope for jeans without nagging fit compromises. DigDug, thanks for the honest post. Might want to look at ratio for shirts. I've been happy with their fit just using their standard fit system, but if you really want to fine tune it, you can do a ridiculous amount of fit tweaking. MiUSA, not terribly expensive. Their fabric options are a little uninspired, but worth a look.

Its a cool shirt, pretty subtle effect, and roll up the sleeves for a little more blue. I'd say go for it and use their good return process in case it underwhelms you for the price. I'd second that. Just got the shirt today and it's pretty cool. I preordered and got 20% off so it was quite a bit less than $138, so that probably influences my opinion. It is 7 oz fabric. I knew that when I ordered it but for some reason it didn't register that it's pretty heavy. Don't know that I'll wear this a ton in the summer.

And I got a quite bit of leg twist. Did you get the leg twist after the soak? Also, flat felled or taped seams?

They've had a number of pieces over the last few months that I'd pick up but they're getting to be as expensive as ratio which is faster and MTM. It's as if they've raised prices to make up for the 20% discount for workshop. Once they hit rakuten IH prices (which are beyond a lot of other Japanese brands), it's much easier to pass on them. Even when it's in the name of science. Agreed on the ratio thing. Such good shirts. I just wish they stepped up their fabric game. I don't think a jacquard has been within 50 miles of denver. Incidentally, according to the TS website, this was supposed to ship between 5/11 and 5/15. Still no shipping notice for me. Anybody got one yet? If I don't hear anything in the next day or two, I'll shoot them an email.

Agreed, but that material is pretty unique. I passed on it to wait for the workshirt, but it was a trainwreck, so I guess I'll pay full price for this one. But all TS shirts are $25 too high. Do we have enough pull on this forum to get a TS discount? 10% would make me buy more. 20% would get me to buy some stupid things. i backed this in the workshop and used my wife's email as a "new customer" to get another 20% off. That brought my order to $92.40 including shipping, which is a great deal for a MiUSA shirt with that fabric, in my opinion. $140? Perhaps not as much.

These are super comfortable. Been fighting a pair of G's all day that have just been too tight and too short on the rise. These Cramerton Chino's fit like a glove right out of the box. I'm gonna wash and wear for a little bit and see how the shrink goes before hemming. I have like a 2 fold hem on these where Id prefer a 1 fold, but I see these as informal chinos so I may not even bother. If your on the fence, order. WOuld be nice to get some other colors. This. just got these today. I agree they're super comfortable. The top block is very reasonable down to just below the knee and then there is a good taper to the cuff. Weight is good for spring/summer/fall. These are great chinos, especially for the price.

What do you wear in G? I ordered a label size 33 (actual waist 36) in the slim fit. I wear a 35 slim in G. Hope I'll be ok.

A Twin Cities music station (89.3 The Current) just did a list of the 893 most essential albums as voted on by the listeners. Given that it's a Minnesota station, Prince, Bob Dylan and The Replacements rate higher than they would have elsewhere. www.thecurrent.org/feature/2016/05/05/893-essential-albumsNevermind is #1. I don't really get too bent out of shape about what is ranked where in these kind of things; I mostly just appreciate scrolling through it. Brings back a lot of good memories. People can argue about the order forever but it is a great list. If anyone is seeking good music to check out this list is a great reference point. Two things about this are interesting to me: 1) 8000 voters. Who tallied all the votes? I'm sure its something that had to be tallied manually. This must have taken forever. 2) From my understanding, you could vote for 10 albums. Keep that in mind as you look at albums 800-893. Are there people out there that consider Throwing Copper by Live (#844) in the top ten of all the albums in history of the world? I mean Lightning Crashes is a good song and all, but jeez.

Stress or worry wouldn't be words I'd choose. Mild curiosity, is more like it. It's just a shirt. At this point, I wouldn't mind too much they do get cancelled and my money is refunded. I've had a similar experience with some G chinos. As the estimated shipping date got closer and closer it was apparent I wasn't going to get them on time. I ended up getting them ~6 weeks late. Oh well. I really like the pants. In the year or so that I've been getting a reasonable percentage of my clothing purchases through preorders (G, TS, Ciano), I've gotten used to waiting. On the bright side, it makes buying stuff that's in stock and arrives in a week seem like a real treat.

I am no fan of NAFTA either, but do you think those manufacturing jobs would have moved to Mexico/Central America/Asia even without NAFTA and other trade deals? It seems to me if you can pay a worker 10% of what you pay an 'merican, you can pay a hefty tariff and still make more money. I'm sure an economist has looked at this, but I should actually do some work this morning rather than trying to figure out an answer. Work! Well yeah maybe I should too. NAFTA opened a floodgate. I trust economists as much as politicians. Depends on the economist. The nice thing about data is you can make it say what you want almost all the time.

I think the case industry was hit as hard as shoe companies in the USA. Just not many options anymore. Thanks NAFTA! Okay. On one hand I could definitely learn from you all about how to pack lighter / better... but on the other hand, I refuse to believe all of you have no use for actual luggage. I'm currently in China, for about a year-long business venture, during which I need things for very hot weather, cold weather, businessy times, leisure / beach, and any souvenirs (although probably no drums) I wanna bring home with me. Of course this is no ordinary trip. But y'all make it sound as if you'd never have need for anything more than a large Gustin duffle at MOST. Not envious of you. Packing light just isn't always an option. Sure you could just take your wallet and phone and buy what ever you need and dispose of it when your done. I don't see what the problem is with checking a suitcase. I have had one not make it with me but they had it delivered to me quickly. When flying I'll normally bring a Med case and check it along with a carry on bag for the things I want at hand or won't risk loosing. For carry on I use a filson sportsman. I use this for all kinds of things. I just don't use a suitcase enough to justify paying much. I got the one I do use at GW. My biggest challenge is travelling with kids. Slogging car seats is a huge pain. Even worse, a packable crib. My kids are old enough now that we have inflatable boosters that can be easily packed, so its getting better. I have a Timbuk2 rolling suitcase carry on size that I like a lot. I would have preferred a MiUSA option, but Timbuk2 is reasonably transparent with their sourcing so I feel pretty good that it wasn't made by a preadolescent Malaysian. There aren't a ton of MiUSA equivalents to the suitcase I have that aren't >$700.
